Does the app work…I have no idea, maybe. But here’s my experience: I get a phone call out of the blue, who knows where they got my number from. They ask me multitudes of intrusive questions regarding my personal information like what car I drive, if it has a tracker, do I have a house alarm, is it a freestanding house, do I have children, what do I earn, am I home during the day etc It felt like they were collecting information on how to plan an intricate personalised house *******. The phone call did not inform me what the purpose of the call was. For the life of me I do not know why I answered the questions. A week or so later I get another call that actually tells me about the app and contextualises why I received the first phone call. I download the app thinking “where’s the harm”. I forgot about the app for about 4 months until I recently received another unsolicited phone call. They called everyday for four days in a row when I was working and couldn’t answer. When I did answer, they start asking me the same questions again! I told them that I’ve already answered these questions. Somehow the caller manages to get my email address from me before the call ends (I was weak apparently). I start reflecting on this experience and feeling really regretful about sharing my information. I go into the app and realise that although they dont ask for my exact address, the location is “always on” and they can see where I live and where I drive to. Considering they know what type of car I drive and if I have a tracker and house alarm etc, I feel increasingly more concerned. Where did these people get my number from in the first place? Why are they cold-calling? Why would they provide this free app and free service? Im convinced they are collecting and selling data. Frankly the level of information they have feels unsafe and *********. I have tried to delete my account a number of times and it states that an agent will call within 24-hours to discuss “my contract”. I have received no call as of yet and it has been days. All I can do now is hope that deleting the app will help erase some of what they can collect from me. It is my lesson to never give out my personal information again, how flippin silly of me!
