I am absolutely fuming. I've been patiently waiting to collect my furbaby's ashes, which I've been waiting over a week for. I phoned the vet on Saturday to ask about them as I have becoming concerned as the vet said it should be about a week to receive them back. They later phoned and said the crematorium cannot give the information out as the office was closed on the weekend. I had previously signed a form that clearly states 'INDIVIDUAL CREMATION ' and I have evidence of this and which I paid extra for!! I get a phone call from the vet today to say that sorry he has been cremated in a communal cremation when I CLEARLY stated I wanted an individual one. The vet is blaming the crematorium and vice versa. I am absolutely disgusted how something like this can happen and all I get is a "sorry" Sorry isn't going to give me my furbaby's ashes. How can I can take this further???

I read some of the reviews and think some people believe their pet is the one and only patient the practice has. When phone calls go unanswered it usually means staff are dealing with emergencies. They have been helping us for around 5 months with our older dog and the communication and treatment were great.

I would like to share this as I would like to name and shame this vet for the information that I've asked for . I asked the vet for a letter that I brought in a jack russel with internal bleeding because she ate stones and she was letting out blood in her poo as I need it for court. I asked them for the information as I'm taking my manager to court as she proclaimed that I broke the dogs leg on the day of house sitting at her premises on 15/12/2022 . I only need a letter stating that myself and an elderly lady brought in a dog with internal bleeding in the stomach and that it , they go and phone my manager that wasn't even there as she was in the UK at that time and Hillcrest hospital vet says to the owner of the dog that they will not entertain me as I need that for evidence in court. Some of their staff are very kind and willing to help but there are some that just don't give a **** about helping a client and just walk away. I hope that Hillcrest hospital vet will lose points for not being the best vet in the country and people must be known that they love to over charge when they tell you the amount verbally and they very quick to change the amount , because they see clients coming with Dollar sign's of your head.

On a recent long weekend saturday our BoerbullX became very sick. We called for telephonic consultation, person who answered was very sympathetic and gave some advice. The following day we rushed our dog through. She was assessed by Dr Imke who recommended putting her on a drip. Test results were inconclusive but our pet was very very ill. She was kept comfortable and twice daily we received updates. A big shout out to Dr Imke, Dr Nicky, Sifiso, Libby, Charleen and the rest of this amazing team. It was not a cheap week but professionals who cared did what they are passionate about. Medical care for humans & medical care for animals work on the same principal.

I appreciate the emergency availability. I believe the vets are competent. However - and I am not speaking for the first time - I only went back because our need was after hours. THE PRICING IS OUTRAGEOUS AND NOT WELL COMMUNICATED. We signed for 4000 rand and received an sms 14 hours later to say the bill 'so far' was R7000. Cannot help but think that they rely on your love for animals to make money. I wish this industry still existed because they cared about animals more than they cared about their pockets. I believe a fair price is possible - where people can be encouraged to pay for pet care.

We had the most amazing experience with all of the staff and doctors at this hospital. Our puppy was recently hospitalised with them and they constantly kept us updated and informed for the duration of her 5 day long stay. We hope the vets and staff at this hospital are all eternally blessed for the amazing work that they do!
