I just ordered a buy one get one free item through UberEats from Kobe Sushi Plumstead. They refused to honour the free part of the deal, because according to them, the item needs to say "get one free" in the item name. So somewhere there has been a mix up between them and UberEats and I end up missing out...despite selecting the item from the correct area on the menu. This review however is to point out that my wife who collected the order was so grossed out by the appearance of the restaurant, that she couldn't eat the food. (should have taken a delivery rather, so as not to see the state of the place!) The manager was also impossible to reason with...so if the food looks affordably priced, you know why. I'll never order from these guys again...and will warn others too. That should hurt more than the 8 pieces of sushi that they cheated me out of.

I ordered a salmon platter from Kobe Sushi Plumstead. A day later I got really sick. Severe diarrhea to the point I had to call a Netcare ambulance at which time I vomited and it was black in color. I was told to keep hydrated but the following day it got worse. I called the paramedics again and was transported to the hospitals ER and underwent hours of tests etc. I was informed it probably an entero hemorrhagic virus. Or a really severe strain that caused so much inflammation that the RBCs actually made it into the bowel. I was admitted and thankfully with the proper meds the internal bleeding healed and was discharged a day and a half later. I called Kobe and spoke to Mauleen and asked for the proprietor Leon. She got back to me with a response that was shocking. She said “He is too busy to talk but try calling him later” Please beware of eating here. If I hadn’t sought out immediate care I stood the chance of becoming seriously ill or even might have died. The owners lack of empathy is disgusting.

These guys know what they're doing! I would say we are extremely lucky to have them here in Newlands. Their sushi is always fresh, extremely affordable and crafted beautifully. If you feel like sushi from the comfort of your couch then these guys will sort you out! I recommend the MVP platter for a delicious lunch. #SupportLocal

These guys know what they're doing! I would say we are extremely lucky to have them here in Newlands. Their sushi is always fresh, extremely affordable and crafted beautifully. I Purchased a groupon voucher for a Sushi platter at KOBE SUSHI in Newlands on the main road. As i entered the owner said that i must call before i come.I was the only customer in his little restuarant.I placed my order and in 5 minutes my platter was ready. It was the most disgusting sushi i ever had in my life.I was famished at the time but managed to get the deep fried rolls down that is it.The rice was 3 days old hard as rock.I opened the salmon and tuna rolls and found brown meat in the roll.It was not tuna as i eat sashimi and sushi all the time at well established Japaneses and Korean restaurants I approached the chef owner and he said after trying to deny the fact that it was tuna , he said that the Tuna was blocked at the Port in Cape Town but he still did not own up as to what was inside the tuna rolls.I was denied taking pictures of the food as he said quote \This is my restaurant.no photos"I said that i was going to expose him and his unhygienic practice as well as the crap he is substituting in the food that he is serving to his customers.I hold GROUON liable for my money that he refused to refund. As i walked out he said f....k out of my restaurant. close him down"""
