I am extremely disappointed with Mike Hobkins dealership. I’m a single parent to 11-year-old twins, and my safety has clearly been disregarded. I purchased my Kawasaki Z900 (2021 model) in March this year, and just one week later the KTRC check-engine light came on. Every time I took the bike in, they simply reset the error code and told me it was fine to keep riding. I rode the bike like this for nearly six months, even though I reported rattling noises and sluggish performance. I eventually had to escalate the matter to MIOSA before the part was finally replaced — and the R60,000 cost was paid by Auto Sure, the warranty I purchased through Mike Hobkins. Now, one month later, the check-engine light has come back on again, this time for the O2 sensor. I strongly believe this could have been caused by riding the bike for six months with the unresolved KTRC fault. I received a quote from Mike Hobkins for R8,300 to replace and install the O2 sensor, but Auto Sure is only willing to pay R4,000. Mark at Mike Hobkins insists I must pay the shortfall of R4,300 out of pocket. This is completely unacceptable, especially considering I financed the bike for R149,000 and purchased all my riding gear from them. After informing Mark that the bike is rattling and sluggish, I was told there would be no further correspondence. I am extremely worried that riding the bike in this condition will cause further damage and put me at serious risk. I request urgent, fair, and safe resolution to this matter.

When I bought my scooter from Mike Hopkins Motorcycles, I was not allowed to test ride it beforehand. However, I was assured that I could return it anytime and they would buy it back with almost no loss – that promise played a big role in my decision to go through with the purchase. The scooter was brand new, and I paid over 80,000 Rand. Mark Livings, who handled the sale, came across as overly friendly, even uncomfortably so at times. He pushed hard to get me into the system as a registered client and also made several personal advances, accompanied by exaggerated compliments, false promises, and flirty behavior that crossed the line. The scooter was delivered with multiple scratches on the floorboard area. I didn’t say anything at the time, thinking it wouldn’t matter if they were going to buy it back later anyway. After only 300 km, I came back for the first service – and noticed more scratches on the front floorboard, which I definitely didn’t cause. Again, I remained silent. I was also promised the official COC (Certificate of Conformity) papers – which were never provided. After that, any discussion about the promised buy-back or the missing documents was quietly dropped, and no one followed up. In the end, I felt misled and taken advantage of – both emotionally and financially. I am now stuck with a vehicle I cannot use as intended, and there is no support from the dealership to resolve this. I would not recommend buying from this business – at least not while Mark Livings is still working there.

Went to the Mike Hopkins shop over a weekend and requested a quote on my bike to trade in to purchase a New Z900 from them never got any feedback on a trade in amount since I went. So I went ahead and purchased a New Z900 from another dealer and then decided okay let me give it another go due to there location only to be told they are closing and they are fully booked.

Kudo's to Andrew Thompson (owner) for sorting out the damage to my rims caused during a service. http://mikehopkinsmotorcycles.co.za/ I had my Daytona 675 serviced at MHM July'17. When I received the bike I noticed stain marks on both rims that were not there before. After having reported this to the Service Manager I received a call from Andrew, assuring me that his customer comes first and that the issue will be resolved. A week later I collected my bike with both rims having been resprayed and looking better than before. Thanks Andrew and well done MHM!
