I placed a custom order with Oh My Cake on 25 March 2026 for a Fortnite-themed birthday cake, clearly communicating that it was needed for 27 March. I only received a response on 26 March and was told that if I wanted it in time, I needed to pay additional delivery and express fees. I agreed and paid based on their assurance that the cake would be delivered on Friday. That delivery never happened. On the morning of the birthday (Saturday), I had to go to the store in person to follow up on the order. Staff initially could not locate my order at all and seemed disorganized. Eventually, they acknowledged seeing a Fortnite cake but confirmed it had not been delivered as promised. Despite failing to deliver the service I paid extra for, the delivery and express fees were not proactively refunded. I had to follow up myself, submit banking details and proof of payment, and then received no further communication—complete radio silence. The cake itself looked great and worked well for photos, and the kids enjoyed it. However, the taste was average at best, especially considering the total cost of around R1600. This is the issue: You cannot charge premium fees for time-sensitive delivery and then fail to deliver on that promise without accountability or communication. If you are considering Oh My Cake: • Good for aesthetics and themed visuals • Unreliable on timelines • Weak post-service customer support At this price point, reliability and service matter just as much as appearance. I am still waiting for a resolution on the undelivered services.

What a horrible experience! Ordered a cake for R1400 for a 45th birthday. The icing had some terrible food colouring, melted within minutes of being outside. The icing colour (black ) dyed everyone’s lips and hands. Quite embarrassing for a grown ups party. Also ended up eating half the cake as we had to cut Out all the pieces that had the terrible icing. And all We got is “we are sorry, production will look into it” not good enough from my opinion…

I placed an order for my son’s birthday cake on 25 February for delivery on 28 February, which was the day of his 2nd birthday party. The order was confirmed on Thursday for Saturday delivery, and the delivery location is approximately 15 minutes from the store. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We did not receive any communication from the bakery until the afternoon of the delivery date. In fact, we had to call them ourselves to follow up. We were then informed that they had experienced a vehicle breakdown. Later in the afternoon, they contacted us again requesting the access code and informed us they were coming from Soweto. It is unclear why the cake was routed to Soweto from Fourways when the delivery address was in Midrand, which is significantly closer. The cake was only delivered at 5pm — long after the party had effectively started. For a cake costing over R1,300, I expected premium service, proper communication, and punctual delivery. Instead, the lack of planning and communication disrupted my son’s special day. To make matters worse, this is not the first issue we have experienced. The previous year, they wrote the incorrect name on his birthday cake. Based on these repeated service failures, I will not be ordering from them again and cannot recommend them to others. While payment is requested promptly, the same level of urgency and care is not reflected in their service delivery.

I was a walk in client on my birthday. I asked them how to store the cake as I’d use it later in the evening. They said room temperature and specifically said not to put it in the fridge. I thought this was odd but did as instructed because they obviously know best. Come 6pm, cake display time, the customised black icing bleed into the white icing. Cake is ruined just like that. I sent them pictures of the situation same day 03 Jan, I never got a response for weeks. They eventually respond to tell me it’s been escalated to their manager Brenda, who only responds to me yesterday 12 Feb with a 20% discount on my next order. The actual gizzards on these people! I knew I was buying the cake only for their nice designs because their actual cakes always taste terrible and are really not for consumption. Not only was the design ruined the cake was also awful and they expect me to spend more of my money on them?

Very unprofessional, Ordered a cake. Had a discussion with one of their people (Khanyisile) via email on my customisation, thought all was understood. Was then only notified a few hours before delivery that they can’t customise my cake (no explanations) and that I will just have to get what they give as per the pictures on their website. Over R1600 down the drain! Very disappointing!

Disappointing service from the Cedar Square branch. We ordered customised cupcakes on 3 October to be picked up on 6 October for a very important client meeting. We asked for design drafts and they ignored our requests, then messed up our logo, and argued with us saying that the logo was correct. The cupcakes were also quite stale, and we were embarrassed in front of our biggest client. Horrible experience.
