I must express how disappointed we are with the incident that occurred, and the outcome thereof. . We entrusted our child to what was posed to be "premium" care, expecting that Opti-Kids would understand and honor their duty to provide reasonable care to our baby. Every parent expects their children to be in a reasonably good state when they pick them up at the end of the day as when they left them there in the morning. Us collecting a child from school, with a "dirty" nappy that was clearly left on for a while (since some of the poo was stuck on his bum and partially dried), which resulted in a severe raw, nappy burn with some light bleeding on his bottom. This means the applicable standard of care wasn't met, clearly. The mere expectation of any parent is that their child is treated with reasonable care and that they child is cared for in a way that eliminates preventable injury. Such severe nappy burn, was definitely preventable. As parents/caregivers, we all know that. I picked up my child from school, and he was clearly in some sort of distress when he was handed over to me .. he was in agony throughout our 5 minute drive home, and wreaked of a dirty nappy.. The manager of Opti-Baby stated that she conducted investigations and her response was that she checked the cameras and it saw my baby's nappy was changed during the day and that they "checked" the nappy before handing him to me to go home.. implying that a soiled nappy and severe nappy burn happened in our 5 minute drive home? (doesn't make sense), nor is it in any way making us feel as if our child is safe at a school that handles such matters in such a dismissive way. Throughout all of our engagements there has been no sense of accountability, or a solution of a way forward that is assuring that our concern is understood and measures will be put in place to remedy any gaps that may have led to this incident happening.. instead it seems like a blameshifting exercise. Mistakes happen in any environment, and I am accepting of that, but a service provider dealing with customer in a manner that leaves your customer feeling invalidated, dismissed and having no sense of comfort knowing something will be done to try remedy their pain point, is an experience I didn't expect to have with the manager of this school. Telling a parent that the footage was viewed and everyone did their job isn't at all comforting or reassuring, especially since I called the school 10 minutes after picking my child up from school, and immediately sent pictures of the burns (to show that my child was definitely handed to me in that state; and in the given timeline it would be impossible to fabricate such bad nappy burn as we all know it takes HOURS for raised, red patches of nappy burn, with bleeding pores to occur on a baby). I decided to withdraw my baby from their care with immediate effect, and was told I have to pay one months notice. Before I end this story off, Id like to mention that I appreciate how my baby's class teacher, and especially the assistant class teacher handled my complaint; I arranged to pick up my child's belongings and was met by the assistant teacher, and teacher, who gave me the time of day to relay my concerns, they were remorseful and apologized for anything they may have missed, they also pled with me to please let them remedy the situation and reassured me of them making sure they'd do all they can to fix this, I expressed my gratitude for this and was saying that it's such a pity the manager of the school didn't handle my complaint in the way they did, with basic customer service etiquette of validating my pain as a parent, trying to solution my problem so I feel me and my child are valued customers, and ASSURING ME OF MY CHILD BEING IN GOOD HANDS WITH THEM.. The school looks lovely, has amazing facilities, and is well marketed.. but I completely regret enrolling my baby there. After one month with them, there were alot of gaps and red flags I experienced, and I truly regret entrusting my child to this brand. Happy for those that had a good experience with the Rosebank branch, I met many amazing parents along the way. Unfortunate my story ended off sour.

My child joined Opti-Baby on 10 July 2018 and this has been the worse decision I have made in my life. First Incident: I fetched my baby there was a red bruise/mark on his head. I tried calling when I got home at 18h30 to find out what happened, however, it was after hours so I didn’t expect an answer. I let it go…. Second Incident: 16th July, the ladies informed me that he got hurt on his head and he had a blue bruise. - They did not know how it happened - They did not know when it happened They told me he could have possibly hurt himself with a toy while playing. He plays with toys at home all the time, SUPERVISED, and this has never happened before. Not sure what kind of toy could have caused such a bruise and go unnoticed by the ladies. Apparently he also did not cry. I request to view the video footage so that Opti-Baby and myself and determine what happened. The Manager failed to provide me with the video footage. Leandie apparently viewed the video footage herself and could not see when or how it happened. Her response was the below, : We apologise sincerely about incidents that occurred on Friday and yesterday as we always ensure that our children/babies are safe and happy. This is the standard response I receive. If they do strive to ensure that the babies are safe and happy. How can you claim this, if you never live up to this? Third Incident: 11 September, when I collected baby, I was advised that he got hurt while playing outside. Again, they cannot tell me how it happened. They took my baby outside without sunblock or a sunhat, put him on a bicycle and he got injured on his eyelid, head and face. Is this a suitable activity for a 9 month old baby? Again they have no answers for me. Portia was the lady responsible for the injury. When asked why they did not contact me to inform me about this, they said the Manager Leandie asked them not to call me as it was a "small incident" When I spoke to Leandie that evening, she wasn't even at work when it occurred, What a joke and an absolute lie from the teachers. How can I trust them if they cannot even get their facts correct? Baby joined on 10 July and on 10 September they was a re-confirmation fee of R600 for 2019!! Really!!! Opti-Baby is a money making scheme!!! They do not care for the babies! it is purely about money money money!!!!! I require the following: - A meeting with Tanya to discuss these issues - Video Footage on each event and an explanation from the teachers - The teachers qualifications - How many kids are in my child' class? - How many helpers are there? - Why do the helpers change by the hour? - Why are the cameras off at certain times were cannot see the kids? My husband wasted his time to go in this morning as Portia was not there. Maureen advised me that Portia will be in by 6am today. Leandie moved my child out of his class as they got new babies. When we joined 2 months ago, we clearly asked if he can remain in the Baby Class until the end of the year and she said YES. Another promise she did not uphold. Opti-Baby uses the camera's to claim that they offer excellent service. They don't even have Data at times for the cameras . Their Staff are inadequate and not fully trained in their jobs They claim the kids are watched over all the time however, they cannot tell me how any of the incidents occurred? Their staff members also do not have Leandies personal cell number or Tanya's. This is just a blatant lie!! I have received no call or explanation about how the incident occurred? No apology or call from Portia!!! Just a whatsapp message from Leandie. Opti-Baby is all about MONEY and do not have the necessary s****ed staff to look after th kids. I want senior mananegment and Tanya to get involved in resolving this and nothing seems to be done!! When will they stop injuring and hurting the kids???? Really Upset and Frustrated Mom

I left my child at Opti-Baby Brooklyn to see how she would do for 2 half-days. The cameras were 'offline' the first day, and when I checked the second day my child was literally ignored (the teacher would sit next to her and she would intentionally play with another child while mine was in tears trying to get her attention. One of the caretakers did the same thing. I asked for a refund to find a nanny for my child, and they initially refused the whole amount R5900), after I fumed they refunded half saying the registration fee of R2000 is non-refundable, and they charged pro-rata for 2 full days R500. As a single mother, R2500 is a lot of money to lose for 2 half days at a useless facility!
