I am submitting this complaint against Oral-B (Procter & Gamble) regarding an electric toothbrush that has developed internal corrosion and deterioration despite being used and maintained correctly. I have been using Oral-B electric toothbrushes for over 25 years and am fully fami**** with proper cleaning, drying, and storage procedures. The product in question was maintained strictly according to Oral-B’s own care guidelines. Despite this, I discovered corrosion and internal damage, which should not occur in a sealed, water-resistant device designed for daily use in a bathroom environment. When I contacted Oral-B Consumer Care, they dismissed the issue outright and attributed the problem to improper care, without inspecting the device or providing any technical explanation. This response assumes user fault and avoids addressing the core issue of product durability and moisture resistance. In my view, this response is unreasonable and unfair, particularly given the nature of the product and its intended use. An electric toothbrush is reasonably expected to withstand exposure to water and humidity over its normal lifespan without internal corrosion. This matter falls under the Consumer Protection Act of South Africa, specifically: Section 55: The right to receive goods that are of good quality, durable, and reasonably suitable for the purpose for which they are intended. Section 56: The imp**** warranty of quality, which protects consumers against defects that render goods unsafe or not durable under normal use. Premature internal corrosion under normal usage conditions suggests either a manufacturing defect, inadequate sealing, or substandard materials, none of which should be attributed to the consumer. I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed and that Oral-B be required to: Reconsider their position without presuming misuse, and Provide an appropriate remedy in line with the CPA (repair, replacement, or refund). I trust that this matter will be handled fairly and in accordance with South African consumer law.

Very poor customer support/after-sales service. No way to get through telephonically. Email addresses are invalid. Finally managed to get through via an online form, got a response from Lerato, but then never responded again. Will never support the brand again.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Toothbrush stopped working and still within warranty. Tried to get hold of Oral-B South Africa to no avail. Emailed them from website, got a reference number and then nothing. Chat feature on their website does not work. No response of Facebook. X, I only managed to get hold of USA. They could not help me. I even phoned the offices and wrote an email to reception for the product manager. Didn’t even respond. I bought a Philips Sonicare. I actually prefer it to the Oral-B, so I should probably thank them for their pathetic service. Don’t bother with them because if you have an issue, you are on your own. P&G must stand for Pay and Gamble.

I bought my first Oral b electric toothbrush in 2016, I was happy with it, I discarded it in January 2024 because it was old. I bought a new one in January this year from Clicks. I haven't even removed the original brush. It started giving me problems about two months ago. Sometimes it won't switch on but the battery is full. I'm even discouraged to buy new brushes.

I bought new Oral B tooth brush in Dischem, after my old one stopped working . But it is faulty, charging indicator doesn't work and battery drains after few usages. Apparently Oral B doesn't work like other companies, they don't replace your faulty toothbrush immediately, they send courier to fetch it from you, evaluate it, and then decide what to do. Even if you just unhappy with product , they don't want to refund you. There is no resolution time, and my email wasn't answered for 2 days (I had to send proof of purchase) no matter it was escalated. And still no sign of any manager to speak to.

Not impressed with Oral-B bought a Oxyjet cleaning system around 12 years ago, pipe started cracking recently, when contacting Oral-B to repair the system, I was informed that the machine has been discontinued and I would have to buy a new water flosser. Machine works perfectly apart from a 3 mm pipe that has perished, seems to be a problem with this model worldwide. I have decided to go with Waterpik instead.

We bought an electric toothbrush the past Dec only for it to stop working after about a month. I made contact with Oral B on the 27th Feb, spoke to a nice lady called Lerato who to cut a long story short, assisted me and we made arrangements for the unit to be collected from my house. On the first attempt the courier came on the wrong day and waited for the to arrive on the scheduled day....they never pitched. I called Lerato and again we made arrangements for collections, again they dont pitch but come to the house on a day that I didnt agree to and to make the matter worse, the delivery man was rather rude. Lerato reassured me and to date, I am sitting with a device that does not work and has not been collected....not even a courtesy call to find out the status of my query. If collecting the device is too much trouble for Oral B then simply provide a refund or a new device.....This service is unacceptable
