Review of The Pearls of Umhlanga, or Oceans Apartments We spent R106K on four apartments and had a very disappointing stay. The host Fara was unresponsive despite multiple complaints. The studio units smelled damp, one child even got sick and had to be moved to a hotel. The 1‑bed apartment at The Darm had a torn sofa bed with a missing leg, windows taped shut, and water leaking from the ceiling and walls. Worst of all, there was visible mold in the dining area, bedroom, and en‑suite. For the price paid, the condition and lack of support were unacceptable.

I recently stayed at Capital Pearls. What supposed to have been a nice stay was actually a disaster. From the time I made this booking till I left. I was dumped in a room that was not to my satisfaction. The stove and oven was not working. We baked and the caked has to be sent to their kitchen over. The Manager on duty refused to sort the problem. Self catering units should be checked before a client is booked in.

My mum booked in Dec. She fell ill, rebooked for January. She suffered heart failure. Requested a refund. The apartments, refused. My mum is back in hospital and may not survive. The management at this apartments are doing bad business practice. It is incredibly ********* to not refund a dying person who could not, due to heart complications, keep the booking. She paid R9300 and is 75yrs old

Hi, I trust that you are well. Please note that the booking below was made on Saturday, 15 October 2022 on booking.com. On the website, the Total Amount was ZAR 3863.70. Soon after finalising the payment, I received a bank notification of R5 444.89. I immediately contacted booking.com and they referred me to The Pearls of Umhlanga. They informed me that the cancellation waiver would be at the discretion of the hotel. I even contacted them directly and spoke to them per telecon and was informed that an e-mail was sent to you. I have no problem with the initial amount charged of R3 863.70 as I had every intention of booking my stay for that amount, however, I did not budget for making a payment of 5 444.89 as it was not the final check-out amount. This is false advertising and it is very confusing to the customer. My ask: 1. Waive the cancellation fee and refund me in full 2. I book the from Thursday until today.I have problems of hairdryer and landline phone.I tell them to come to fix phone the never come.take 2 hours to come and bring hairdryer.I have to go down there to restaurant when I want to order food.i was not happy

Inconsiderate, misleading and untidy. The adverti*****t on Booking.com was misleading. The property host Fara advertised the apartment with beautiful views of the ocean, a balcony and updated, clean bedding. When we arrived at the apartment it was anything but what was advertised. The apartment had no sea views, was very untidy and the hosts and booking.com were not willing to change the apartment nor provide an alternative. This is very upsetting, unpleasant and frustrating as we paid very high prices per night for such an horrible place. Please assist on what can be done to escalate this matter so that innocent consumers are not defrauded as such.

I booked a stay at the Pearls of Umhlanga via booking.com, only for them to cancel the booking with less than 24 hours before the trip. With no reason given. And I still have to wait for 7-12 days before I get my refund. Ridiculous

My cousin and I stayed at this establishment during December, we checked in on the 6th of December and checked out on the 7th of December. They were meant to refund us back our R1500 and till this day they have not. They have been sending us from pillar to post about it, requesting documents over and over again and keep sending us to the bank as well. Im totally disappointed at their service and I would never ever recommend anyone else to stay there EVER
