I am writing this email to you to inform you of our horrific experience at Poplars Restaurant on the 20th of December. When my family and I arrived at the venue we took our seating outside the front door. After about 20 minutes I went inside to find out if we can order anything because nobody came to our table. To my surprise, the person that told us we can sit outside did not know who I was and I had to explain to him that he just welcomed us at the front door. I think his name was Petrus, unfortunately, I cannot remember his surname. When he eventually came to our table he did not provide any drinks menu and told us to ask him if they had what we wanted and he would go and check if they have it. My fiancé asked for a straw for her drink and he brought her an old dirty one where the paper was already half open. After we ordered our drinks we ordered our food. All four of us had the sirloin steak with chips. When the food arrived the steak sizes differed immensely, two of the steaks looked like minute steaks. The steak was covered in soot and tasted like it which I can only think is from a dirty grill. My fiancé's and father's steak which was ordered medium was completed dry and cold. I would not have fed that to my dog. When that same waiter passed our table and asked how the food was my fiancé told him that her steak was cold. His reaction was to say "Are you for real" and walked away. I went to the small office before kitchen looking for a floor or kitchen manager to complain about our experience but that waiter told me that there is no manager available. How is it possible that no manager is available at a fine restaurant like Poplars? While I was complaining to the waiter, because no one else is available, your snotty kitchen staff with utterly bad behavior told me that there was nothing wrong with the steak and that the burnt stuff on the steak was soy sauce. All the time laughing as if this whole thing is a big joke. We have been to many restaurants but I can assure you that this place was absolutely the worst by far. I have never been treated like a fool as I was that evening at your restaurant and I was ashamed to have brought my family to a place like that. The food and the people serving the guests (from the waiter to the kitchen staff) were the worst that I have ever experienced. For a lack of a better word, it was worst, at best. An utter disgrace for the name that Poplars and D'Aria have. I am writing this email to you so that you will hopefully do something about what we experienced so that no other guest will have what we had at your place.

Food was good and beautiful scenery, but service was frustrating, disappointing and infuriating - and I am a patient, understanding person! Birthday celebrations ruined :-( Took forever to take the order, got it wrong, waited a long time for food etc. Waiter seemed like a nice guy, but they seemed way understaffed, so barely saw him! When I paid the bill, (which of course they got wrong), I expressed my dissatisfaction. I was informed that three of the staff had been in an accident, which resulted in the lack of staff. Really Poplars? If this was true, why not at least communicate this? And then after all this I get overcharged - unbelievable. Waste of money.

CAN I GIVE THIS PLACE A 0??? Wow guys - I would just love to share my experience at Poplars yesterday celebrating a 60th birthday. I am seriously annoyed and just angry at this pathetic excuse for a restaurant absolutely ruining a very special birthday. How can you take a booking when you know you have almost no menu items in stock - no fillet, no calamari, no pasta, no chicken and no soup... seriously don't know why you even bothered opening your doors yesterday. We waited hours for food and drinks - this with the very limited options we had to choose from. Best was you could not even do a medium to rate steak - all 3 steaks were done medium - this after we waited over an hour for our food. You even mixed up chips with veg sides and never brought the onion rings you promised would be made. Don't get me started on the triple fried chips - we had 3 different types of chips none of them triple fried... So for dessert we waited 40minutes only to have the waiter come to the table stating you had no custard... guys custard takes 5minutes to make - pathetic pathetic pathetic!!! You completely ruined a 60th birthday - this is unacceptable!!! You should be ashamed! Best part is YOU had the cheek to charge a service charge!!! You could not even light the sparkles for the birthday lady before bringing her desert to the table - this is absolutely SHOCKING!!! You gave us a bottle of MCC for the table... funny I have never ever in my life only poured out 4 glases of bubbly and had an empty bottle... so the short of it is that you took a bottle filled with 2 glasses of MCC from our table - how is that for giving a freebie... I will be spreading the word on my experience and your lack of customer service and how your pathetic restaurant ruined a 60th birthday --- your restaurant should be closed down this is in no way acceptable.

Myself and my friend's expierence at Poplaes Restaurant was absolutely appalling. Upon arrival, there is no waiter in sight to assist us. Finally we find one and notify them where we will be seated. As soon as we sat down s waiter came with menus informing us we have 10 minutes to order before the kitchen closes. We place the order, they put it through and no waiter in sight until our food finally arrives. Somehow we managed to order a bottle of wine through a cleaner - bear in mind, still no waiter in sight. Finally a waiter arrives with out wine. Our food arrives and it's barely even warm. At this point we are absolutely ****ed off and our patience is running low. No waiter to check up on us to see if we need anything or if everything is ok (bear in mind I work within the Hospitality Industry and know how it works). After 1 waiting period of approximately 15 minutes i get up from my table to find a waiter and ask for ice as out ice is melted for our wine and to clear the table. Another 5 minutes passed only to see a waiter heading towards my table. This is possibly the most vulgar service I have ever received and won't be seeing myself OR ANY of my friend circle here again. I have never seen such pathetic service on such a quite day.
