Ever since I "upgraded" to an MTN Flexi 100 contract, I have been unable to purchase data bundles. I can't convert the R199 airtime I have into data, nor can I have it added as an extra item on my monthly bill. My usage limit is set at R0, and when I try to change it to anything other than R0 (even just R1), the MyMTN portal says I can't increase the usage limit above the service provider limit. First off, I don't even know what that means. But anyway. And you can't even talk to a callcenter agent anymore, the 135 number merely has a set of menu items to choose from and a little electronic voice reads stuff back at you. None of the options are helpful. That last part is particularly egregious because the MTN app on my phone says to contact MTN for assistance. But the "assistance" doesn't do anything except tell me I have R199 airtime and no data.
I was just phoned by Smart Mobile (agent's name was Lindani) offering me a cellular contract. In the first place, I never consented to being contacted by Smart Mobile or any other such service. And further to that, when I attempted to explain in as friendly a manner as possible that I am not interested and that I would be wasting Lindani's time, he simply put the phone down in my ear. This is utterly appalling behaviour and I am starting to understand why other people are rude to cold callers.
We took my mother to Cattle Baron in Durbanville for her birthday on the 12th of February. Our waitress, Christy was really good. Friendly and prompt, without being overbearing. Food came quick, considering it was burger night and we had ordered 3 Chateaubriands all done differently. Which brings us to the main focus for this review: Oh my goodness the food was good! I mean, I've had good fillet before. But they take it to a whole new level. The veggies tasted like veggies, not vegetable flavoured butter and sugar. And the bearnaise sauce was perfect. And it being fillet, you could cut it with a plastic knife (although they give you proper steak knives). I'll definitely keep going back there. They're not really expensive either compared to other steak houses and ranches and things that will go unnamed.

I phone MTN's 808 customer care line about being upgraded to the wrong contract. The agent tells me I have to phone MTN Direct and gives me the ********** number. However, pressing #4, which is the closest match to what I want to talk about, sends me right back to the same agent I spoke to at 808. The agent then tells me I have to phone MTN Direct, and so the circle continues. Please, for the love of God, let me speak to someone at MTN Direct!
I have NOT given Virgin Money permission to market to me in any form. Yet this morning I get a call on my phone that is nothing but a loud pre-recorded voice announcing VIRGIN MONEY INSURANCE... (at which point I put the phone down). It is damn annoying and will make me LESS willing to spend money with them. Also, there is a reason I never consented to any marketing from Virgin Money Insurance: I don't want to talk to them. And I definitely don't want some obnoxious voice recording screaming in my ear.

I placed an order for same day delivery on Tuesday. It's Tursday today and I still have not received it. Yesterday I got a call from someone at the N1 city branch apologizing for the delay, which I appreciate. But Since then nothing has happened. Fedex's tracking info shows that "The Parcel is Pre-Inducted onto the Manifest" which simply means they know they have to pick it up, but they have not actually done so.

The problem here is that one pays almost R500 extra for same day delivery. And in fairness, I was promised the money back. But I probably had a good reason for spending an extrar R500 to have something delivered the same day, instead of waiting a couple of days and not paying any shipping using their free delivery option.

And the reason I'm complaining here is that their tracking inquiry email address, ********** returns "550 Invalid Recipient", so I can't even take it up with them via their channels, forcing me to come here.
