My wife and I had a dinner booking at Sevruga (V&A Waterfront). The meal itself was really good BUT ... There was a group of 6 locals (South Africans) seated 3 rows behind us, that over-indulged in the wines on offer. Their noise levels progressively increased to such a point that their conversation and laughter sounded like screeching and this continued for hours, despite several guests also seated in the terrace area repeatedly turning around and giving them disapproving looks. My wife and, and the group at our table literally could not hear each other speak - it was deafening. Folk seated further away from this roudy, vulgar group suffered the same affliction. We, along with other guests eventually signalled to a group of waiters, who up until now simply stood by, pretending not to hear the deafening screeches, and our waiter approached us. We asked him if he could please ask the group to tone it down because it was impossible for our group to have a conversation. We could see from the looks of other guests that they all shared our disapproval and concern. The waiter advised that he was "not allowed" to confront / engage patrons about their behaviour. We then asked if he could request his manager to address the roudy crowd instead and he left to speak to his manager. Shortly after, a young gentleman (the manager) appeared and politely and quietly had a very brief word with the group and then disappeared. Following this address by the manager, the group's volume levels increased even further - it was clear that they were out to prove a point. We unfortunately had to endure the rest of the night - feeling as though we were sitting in a pub with drunk ****s while trying to have a conversation with your dinner. The roudy, inconsiderate, selfish, drunken behaviour of a small group of 6 guests ruined the night for the rest of us on the terrace - easily amounting to 40+ guests and Sevruga's staff and management were completely indifferent and incapable of managing the situation. Clearly the young manager was completely out of his depth regarding how to deal with this drunken crowd, and the watering staff's complete indifference to the situation just amplified everyone's frustration. Sevruga need to invest in training and equipping their staff to handle these kinds of situations so they can serve the interests of all their guests and maintain a pleasant environment for all, and not allow a handful of guests to ruin the night for 1/2 of their restaurant!!! I will NOT be returning to Sevruga in a hurry!
Axxess is my ISP with whom I have Fibre Internet at home. My internet was down for more than 12hrs but there was no notice on their network status board of the outage, which indicates they were unaware. I logged an incident via the axxess mobile app but no-one made contact. About 30-min later, I logged a 2nd ticket (this time via email to their support mailbox) and 1hour later, still nothing other than an automated system generated reply email, but no contact be anyone investigating the outage. I eventually phoned their support line only to be told that my incident ticket had not been assigned to anyone yet but would be picked up now by the staff member on the call. The attitude and tone of the support engineer was far from apologetic or empathetic as she gave a lame excuse of them having a "high volume of calls". Poor service and a poor attitude! I think it's time to shop around and change ISPs!
Beware! Stay away from this pool services guy! Deveraux Landman operates as DJ Pools with a little advert running in the Tygerburger local newspaper. This is one of the typical "bakkie brigade", employing untrained, cheap labour to do the "actual work" while he stands around to "supervise". My 1.1kW Quality pool pump developed a leak and I was referred to DJ Pools by a friend. Devereaux inspected the pump and advised that it needed to be replaced. I accepted his quote and scheduled an installation date. They arrived with the new pump and motor and the 2x labourers went about removing the old pump & motor and installing the new one, while Deveraux stood around. When the work was finished, I was told not to turn on the pump for at least 24hrs to allow the PVC Weld (glue) to set. Things got really busy at work and I didn't test the new pump for a while. When I did turn on the new pump/motor, it caused the circuit breaker on my home's main distribution board to trip. I reset the breaker and tried again to be certain it was the pump causing the trip, and confirmed it was the case. I opened the cover to the electrical cord of the new motor and saw that the wiring had been connected wrongly by Deveraux's labourers. I contemplated calling Deveraux for him to correct the problem, but decided to "save him the effort" and reconnect the wiring properly myself (after all, at my age one knows the colour coding for Live, Neutral and Earth). The pump then worked when I switched it on - it went on briefly before it lost suction and I detected a smell of burn. I switched the pump off immediately and contacted DJ Pools (Deveraux), via whatsapp, explaining in detail what happened and requested that he please come out and attend to it. Deveraux called me and proceeded to argue with me on the phone, denying any responsibility and insisting that there was "no way" his guys would have connected the pump incorrectly despite me repeatedly telling him that the pump had caused the circuit break to trip before I swapped the wiring. He claimed that the lack of suction was probably caused by a blockage in my suction line and that he'd have to charge me to come out and attend to it. The tone of his conversation very quickly became very abrasive and completely unprofessional with him talking over me and eventually he hung up on me while I was still speaking. This was a classic case of not wanting to take any responsibility whatsoever for the shoddy work done. I am quite sure that none of his labourers are electricians and yet he left it up to them to install & connect the new pump & motor. Our whole family contracted Covid and several weeks passed before I could get another pool comoany out to give me an independent 2nd opinion. Bali pools (based in Durbanville) came out and advised that the new motor had been damaged and internal wiring of the motor had burnt out because it had been connected incorrectly. My " new" motor intalled by DJ Pools, and which I hadn't been able to use once yet, had to be replaced. I contacted Deveraux once again, informing him of the 2nd opinion obtained from Bali Pools, and asked him to assist to try and have the motor replaced under the 24-month warranty before I considered installing a new pump/motor once more. He once again refused to accept any responsibility for what happened and said it was the first time that something like this happened. He asked me to send him pictures of the pump and said he'd log a call with his supplier and that I should deal with them directly from then on - he sent me a contact no. to phone if I didn't hear back from anyone by the following day. Shocking quality of work, and a pathetic, abrasive and defensive approach to dealing with after-sales issues related to the workmanship of his labourers. Do yourselves a favour and stay away from DJ Pools. Burnt my fingers trying to support the wrong "small business".
Beware and avoid this retail store!!! I ordered an Asus wifi 6 router from them online and paid immediately with my bank debit card. Router was advertised as being in stock and should have shipped to me within 2-5 days. Despite payment received and confirmed via an automated email, when I tried following re shipping, the cracks began showing. You are supposed to be able to track your order online using your order no. but after 4 days, my order still didn't even appear in the order tracking system. There was no evidence of the router ever being passed on to / collected by a courier company in order to ship to me in CPT. I searched long and hard to find a contact tel no. and then tried calling repeatedly on different days - with no answer. this sham. I sent an email to all 3 email addresses that appear on their website but simply no response. On day-4, I received a reply to my email requesting an ETA for delivery, and the reply simply privided a link to the "order tracking" feature on their website, which showed an error and didn't allow me access. I also tried the order tracking functionality directly on their website, but still nothing. This is probably THE WORST online shopping experience I've had and I'm now in the process of logging a case with SAPS and my bank's fraud unit. I strongly suggest that you steer clear of these guys.
