Sadly 0 is not an option. This is THE worst logistics company in South Africa. I have had a query with them for a refund on TWO duplicate payments totalling R600. They "escalate" the matter - which means they will send it to someone else who will also ignore it. You can NEVER speak to a manager - they are always "in a meeting". There is no reception or office or any number other than the call centre - who cannot transfer calls to any other department apparently. I will be advising Temu that I will no longer be ordering anything that will be delivered by Buffalo. Disgraceful service. I doubt they will stay in business for very long.
Their client bumped my car in my driveway. I don’t want to claim on my insurance as I was not even there at the time and I don’t want to lose my no claim bonus. They have been IMPOSSIBLE to deal with. They are exceptionally rude and uncommunicative - by email and verbally. I eventually had to put the phone down because the man on the other end was literally screaming at me like a crazy person. Through all his ranting I managed to ask if he was the insurance people or attorneys (because of a comment he made I was confused). He (Gerrie) said he is an attorney - I assume the in-house attorney. He is THE MOST unprofessional attorney I have ever dealt with. If this is the person they let deal with the public it explains a lot. They refuse to let their client do anything to assist - like give an incident report. Because they don’t want to accept liability. Their client is my plumber who I know well. There is NO DISPUTE over what happened. He told me himself what happened as I was not there. His driver bumped my car. That’s it. No dispute. These people will do ANYTHING to get out of paying. They keep saying I must get an attorney - they think I can’t afford to do I’ll go away since it’s only R7k. But since my best friend is an attorney I’m more than happy to do that. Bottom line - rude, unhelpful, EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. If I could give ZERO stars I would.
Looking for a good function hire company? avoid ABC Function Hire AT ALL COSTS. Completely untrustworthy. I was happy to find a company that could help me with an almost last minute booking (2 weeks) at an affordable price. I compared prices - they were around R700 cheaper than anyone else. They said they would deliver on the Friday (our function was Saturday). I waited the entire day at the venue. I phoned every 20-30 min from 4:00pm asking where they were and was told they were “still packing”. I was assured each time that they would be there “definitely” before 5:30pm. I waited. 5:30pm came and went. I struggled to get anyone on the line. At around 6:15 I was told they would be there by 6:45pm. That came and went. They finally arrived at 7:15pm. The venue was in a very dodgy area for a woman alone so I just asked them to offload and we left. I did not have time to check what was delivered as I needed to leave the premises and get home as it was pitch dark by then. I was told that they were short of s****s which would be delivered in the morning. I explained they would have to leave it with the caterers as I had lots of things to do in the morning. And bearing in mind they were short of s****s - what else might they have been short of? I was incredibly stressed at the dangerous situation I was in given the remote location and I was beside myself with worry when I still didn’t have my stuff after 7pm - I had over 300 guests the next day and I was panicking I would not get it. So I had no choice but to sit and wait for them. After the event I personally cleaned the kitchen and packed everything into crates. It was then collected on the Monday morning. I waited for quite some time before receiving communication from them saying that we had “shortages” in the amount of about R750 which would come off my deposit. I was stunned. We did not have a single breakage and I personally packed everything so I knew nothing had been left behind. So unless my guests left with dinner plates in their handbags it was impossible that we were short of what they claimed. I called immediately and said I was not disputing what was returned but that they could not guarantee what they had originally delivered as it was not checked because they came so late. In light of the fact that they were only packing my order at almost 6:30pm who knows how well it was checked when they packed? I could not put myself in danger to stay and count 300 items of everything at 7:15pm at night in a remote area with no security. I never heard from them and I never received the R250 deposit they said they would pay (my original deposit was R1000). I called. I emailed. I called. I emailed. I got nowhere. I was told repeatedly that they were “looking in to it”. By now it was the end of October. Our function was mid August! I finally got hold of yet ANOTHER person and I got really mad. She assured me it was sorted and I would get the refund. I did the next week. But only the R250. I immediately started calling again and asked to speak to the owner or manager. I was told repeatedly that he was “unavailable”. But someone did give me his name. Sean. Next time I called I asked for him - and was told - again - that he was unavailable but they gave me a cell number. I got hold of him almost two weeks ago on a Thursday. He assured me he would get back to me the following Monday. He didn’t. I called the Tuesday after that (10 days later). He informed me that they were correct and I was wrong. I said I did not dispute what was returned but had no proof of what was delivered. Or should I say I tried to say that. He would not let me speak. He said as I did not do my “due diligence” and check what was delivered it was my fault. I tried ask to how I was expected to check so late at night under those circumstances but he just put the phone down on me. Typical of the level of professionalism you can expect from this company. Find someone else to hire from. They happily take your money then string you along. Then when you try to communicate suddenly no one can or is prepared to help. If and when they answer a phone that is . “Management” are even less than professional than their staff. So in a nutshell - avoid at all costs #abcfunctionhire #abchire
I only gave a 1 star because 0 or less than 0 is not an option. Absolutely APPALLING customer sales service. I was considering moving my business from Barron and Amrod and the like to this company but will NOT be making that mistake. The sales agent has absolutely ZERO idea what she is doing. Does not listen to what I am asking for - she is too busy seeing whether she can find the same product on the Barron website - even after telling her they don't have stock of what I want! I asked for a price on a similar (not the same) item that the Perkal website shows that they have hundreds in stock - but she couldn't even get her head around that. Just kept on and on about the ones from Barron (where they apparently also buy from). EVENTUALLY got her to understand that I want the ONE ON THE PERKAL WEBSITE - NOT BARRONS. Totally incompetent. Then she tells me it will take a whole day just to get a resellers price for that one item - apparently it cant be given verbally over the phone (WTH?) and can ONLY be emailed - but that will take a whole day because I'm "NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER" ! I can't speak to a manager apparently because they are working remotely and she cant get them a message to call me. Abysmal service and useless sales staff. Bye Bye Perkal. So glad I didn't waste more time looking through your website.
Unfortunately there are no negative stars available. I bought an item in August. It was sent with a Chinese tracking number but was never registered as a tracked item with the South African post office. It apparently arrived in SA at the end of September but they never bothered to register it with the SA post office so there is no way to track it as there is no SA tracking number. I have emailed them for two months trying to sort this out. I have received about 7 emails apologising telling me they have "escalated" it to management to sort something out and to please be patient as they are dealing with it. But 3 months later I still don't have the goods and they have not refunded my money. Every other online supplier I have used uses a proper courier - they dont just send it untracked to the post office. Their emails are very polite and well written and make you believe they care and are handling it but it's now December and I have received no actual action from them. Just promises on top of promises. Disgusting customer service. AVOID THIS ONLINE RETAILER AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

Customer service in South Africa is shocking at best but by far one of the worst experiences I have EVER had is with Gridhost. I could not select all the bad items I wanted to check on the drop down box to categorize my complaint so I settled on “bad service”. That is an understatement. They don’t answer phones. They don’t call back. Their automated telephone system doesn’t work. They pass the buck. They don’t read previous history so don’t know what is going on. One dept has no idea what the other is doing. Between all their shuffling of companies and takeovers they lost an entire website. The don’t action queries or emails - I am STILL receiving emails about my account being “suspended due to non-payment” although I cancelled 3 months ago. Which they acknowledged. They just have NO IDEA of what is going on with their business. Even the managers don’t seem to care. There service is as bad as the rest of the staff. They were not even perturbed when I cancelled 10 accounts with them. Must be nice to have a business where you can watch customers walk away and not be dazed. Didn’t even ask why. Shocking shocking shocking customer service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
