Whatever you do, do not appoint Sanlam as the executors of your deceased estate. A friend of ours is going through untold problems after her husband passed away. It is now 6 months, and they still have not procured the letter appointing them as 'executors of the deceased estate' meanwhile the widow is going through a lot of financial problems. Their house in the deceased estate needs to be sold as she cannot afford the monthly expenses. She has instructed an estate agent to sell the property, but no contract can be drawn up until the 'letter of appointment as executors' has been received, which Sanlam is failing to obtain. She desperately needs to rent/sell the house and move in with her daughter but is not getting any assistance/guidance from Sanlam as to what she is allowed to do, or not. Now after 6 months she gets a letter from the Sanlam representative advising her that he is leaving their employment clouding the whole issue even further. This is the time when the deceased's family need support from the appointed executors, but nothing forthcoming from Sanlam. Stay away from these people if you do not want to subject your spouse/family to more drama.
We bought the 15kg top load washing machine about 2 years ago with the normal 2 year warranty through H&H. We have only had problems with the machine from the beginning. First the water inlet valve malfunctioned, after that repair the machine started making a 'clunking noise'/terrible vibration. That was still within the warranty so that came to fix that. Now the clunking noise is getting worse again and Defy simply claim that the warranty has expired and we need to pay R 690 for a call out fee. We feel that the machine was not reliable from the beginning and will obviously not buy another Defy product. Our Defy tumble drier also only lasted for a short time and now unrepairable. Defy used to be our reliable 'go to' brand but unfortunately is now as (un) dependable as all the other brands. In the future will only buy Bosch products as they are sill dependable, bit more expensive but cheap is more expensive in the long run.
As an accommodation provider our property is advertised through Booking.com and other agents/websites. They collect payments from guests, on our behalf, and are supposed to on-pay the payments, collected on our behalf, but often fail to (timeously) do so, leading to a dispute which can (potentially) affect guests that have booked through these agent websites. Guests would be safer to book directly with (reputable) accommodation establishments to ensure that they do not get caught up in payment disputes.
After quite a few years of extreme disappointment with the service I got from Mweb I eventually decided to go back to Afrihost, what a relief. Since joining Mweb I had endless problems with getting my e mail to function properly, through Outlook. Many exasperated phone calls to Mweb, very rude and no solution. Since joining Afrihost last week all problems with my e mail resolved, as if their was no problem.
Make sure the cost of the item on the shelf is the same as at the till. They are good at discounting the price on the shelf but not at the till
Really one of the worst shopping experiences of my life. I bought a laptop and was misled by the sales person about the laptop which is not a laptop but a notebook which did not have the programs, that I was assured are loaded. I returned the laptop/notebook but already waiting a week for the refund, leaving me high and dry as I can not buy a replacement laptop until I get my R 9 000 refund. Totally unprofessional non-caring staff. Don't even try to phone the store
Very bad workmanship, now I can't even sell my car
These are a bunch of scumbags. They took my deposit, which they don't tell you is non refundable, then half way through the move they increase the price by 25% (the distance to carry the furniture is more than 40 meters, which they should have checked at the time of doing the quote), which I refused to pay. They now threaten me as they have my deposit and half the furniture in the truck. They then drive off with the furniture in the truck after assaulting me.
