Accountability Group (Pty) was engaged by Swimmattix to just add my name to the Credit Bureau; they were not there to do debt collection. I was taking swimming lessons with swimmattix, for which you pay in advance. We paid for April [2025], and we told them we will not be atten**** [that April]; and included in the message we told them we were cancelling our membership. Their requirement is, you notify them one month in advance. They managed to acknowledge our absenteeism, but say we were supposed to send a different message for cancelling. When Accountability sent us an email, we indicated we were disputing this, and we want Swimmattix to give us the detail for their ombudsman so that we can escalate. But Accountability went ahead and added my name to the credit bureau, even though we had shown correspondence that we indicated cancelling a full month in advance Remove my name from Credit Bureau, and do proper debit collection, and consider the emails and details we sent to you; bcoz this is not professional and sparks of xenophobia on both the Swimmattix and Accountability side
We notified Swimmattix in time that we will be dropping out [emails shared with Swimmattix and Accountability] We didnt do the lessons for an entire month after we gave "notice" We continued getting "absentee" messages for that month entire We tried explaining, and sent screenshots of the absent message that included the "termination" message; but we keep getting final notice emails. We tried explaining to Accountability/Swimmattix debt collector, they also decided to not accept our explanation, and continue to issue more warning emails that we need to pay [for what, when we notified them in time??] This clearly is not about payment, our team is asking, is it lack of professionalism, or is it xenophobia
A wife of friend of ours app**** for PR using her hubby's PR. And a lady from DHA phoned to verify/confirm their marriage. The lady didn't say where she is phoning from, or who she is, upon asking her where is she was calling from, she became insolent. My friends explained to her, they get a lot of spam calls people trying to sell them insurance [for eg]. Finally she decided to say who she is, and in the conversation she pointed out she could fail their application because she could "not" verify that they were together. And then three to four weeks after, the wife's application was rejected despite the fact she submitted all the supporting documents. Luckily our friends recorded the entire conversation, and now they are mooting the idea going public with the voice recording, and want to take the DHA to the Public Protector
Is the Public Protector only for citizens? What about naturalized citizens? What about permanent residency holders? What about the ordinary tourist, what happens if a government department seem to be xenophobic, does the Public Protector help these guys if they come forward with a complaint? Does the Public Protector know that these guys are equally taking part in our economy just like our first class citizens, and that they do have the same rights as [our] first class citizens, or does the Public Protector do passive xenophobia by just ignoring these guys' complaints?
I have a friend who had a car on Uber, a 2013 model car, since start of last year. When he joined Uber, that is the manufacture year any make of car that they would allow on the platform. He bought that car via a bank's vehicle finance, that is six years to pay. This worked out okay as the weekly payouts from Uber were enough to pay for the car every month and he had some change to feed his family. This all changed last week when he wanted to change the Uber partner/driver for his car. Uber suddenly said they do not allow a 2013 year model car on their platform. This is despite the fact that 1. The car is not a new addition/car on the uber platform, it has been on Uber for a full year 2. the car went for fitness test last week [on 20 June 2018] and passed NB Uber requires fitness tests to be valid for a month. 3. It still looks like a new car both inside and outside [hence it passed fitness test] albeit the headlamp lenses that are a bit opaque 4. The mileage on the car is just over 160K. As a businessman, to remain on Uber he has to constantly sell his car, every year, to meet the required age of the Uber-cars they allow, which can not be a good/viable business at all. Now he is left in a lurch as he does not have money for the monthly payments to the bank. Even if he sells the car to cover his car loan, the amount is not enough as the value of the car has depreciated. If Uber can CLEARLY state on their website that they [will] remove or do not allow cars on their platform when they are of a certain age, so that when peaple join Uber they know what kind of businee they are getting into.
