its been 2 months now since i contacted them for a claim. It took 2 weeks for them reply after i had to complain, then another 2 weeks to send out a contractor, i however asked if i could use my own contractor as he is currently busy wigth another project at my home. After a long wait a contractor contacted me and asked when they could start the repairs, i was confused as i specifically asked if can use my own contractor whom i trust to do a reliable job. I have written a email a week 2 ago. The same contractor phoned me multiple time over the 2 weeks to ask if i had made up my mind, and i have told them that I'm still awaiting on Standard Bank. I called yesterday and requested the option of a call back but nothing again. This morning again same thing. So I'm sick and tired of Standards banks incompetence and lack of professionalism. To date i have no clue what the claim total is.
I received damage to my property about a a month ago due to strong winds. I contacted standard bank insurance to file a claim. Two weeks after I put in the claim still no contractor came out to do an assessment. After me running to hello Peter they responded a day later stating that a contractor will come out. A day or two later the conractor came out to assess damage.Its been two weeks almost again, and no communication from the contractor or standard bank. I then went to the banking app to see the progress and under claims there are no claims thus far. For someone who has been a client of thiers for over 20 years, this pathetic service.
Phoned them about 2 weeks ago to claim damages caused to home home caused the wind Gqeberha. And still no assessor came out to view the damages. I even left all evidence of damages as is, so I can't fix or clean up anything.
I've been trying to contact standard bank to find out how to buy prepaid electricity on the banking app. Wasted about R200.00 of airtime, because they don't call back , on hold for ... Forever and did not speak to anyone. Call gets cut off. They send me emails saying that I can save money using the banking app, but when I try to use it, it's incompetence or transfer me to next available person. Been 3 years now and still trying buy electricity on the banking app. PATCHETIC INCOMPETENCE
KFC circular drive, in Port Elizabeth online ordering is a shamble. I orders a family meal and they did not include the Zinger wings. I'm sure they realized their mistake, but no phonecall, to sorry,because online they are supposed pick up the error. They even checked the order before they gave it to me. But clearly their checking procedure is faulty. This is not the first time I have experienced an online order that was incomplete. But as of yet no apology. Why then do we have online convience if it's an inconvenience.
Ordered a Family treat, added extra Mask and gravy and Small chips because the family treat does not give it. I asked to change the coleslaw for mash and gravy but they denied me. Went home just to find that the Zinger wings was excluded from my order. I am not gonna drive all the way back to collect 4 Zinger wings, but yet I was charged for it. Poor service. This is not the first time this has happened to my family. I'm sorry but poor service from KFC.
On the Morning of the 4th August 2025, I discovered that my Solar Geyser is not warming up water. I then phoned standard bank insurance to request a call call back since the que was long and I had to work. No call back received. The following day I phoned again and was phoned back, during consultation with the agent, I was either placed on hold or the agent simply stopped speaking to me. I ended the call. I received an one email from them last week stating that the matter is being "investigated". I the took matters into my own hands and phoned the Plumbing company that fixed my Geyser earlier the year, to be exact, the 23rd April this year. I asked the Plumber why does a Geyser that was supposedly fixed breaks down after 3 months. He then investigated further and out that it was an electrical fault. He said that the wiring from the DB box is incorrect and the Wire that connects to the Geyser is incorrect. Now my question is: When I bought this house was there no electrical Certificate issued to Standard Bank insurance as they approved my Home loan? Did they not send their own electricians out. Because in the 3 years I have living in this house the Geyser had broken down thrice. Up to today I have not received an phonecall, an email from them. My family have sitting without warm water for a month now. My daughter has to shower in cold water every morning to get ready for school. But they are very quick to respond if you skipped an payment. I am looking at switching my Home loan ( if possible) to another bank. I have been a loyal standabank customer my whole life, and this is how they treat me. My Solar geyser gave me problems approximately 3 months ago, Standard bank replaced the missing parts and it worked fine. However on Monday morning I switched it on and no hot water. The same morning I requested a call back via the banking app, no call received. This morning the 5th of August my family had to shower in cold water in winter. I phoned them, and waited about 30 min for a call back. When the call back came I waited another 10 min on hold while the lady verified whatever they have to verify as if I'm a ********. Anyway after speaking to this lady less than minutes, while I was speaking to her she simply stopped replying to me. So now I have to waste more time and money waiting for my issue to be resolved.
They really disappointed me. I am a teacher from the Northern areas in Port Elizabeth. And I approached Isuzu for the sponsorship for cricket nets. Unfortunately our school have no infrastructure for cricket nets. My learners, girls and boys, have approached me to revive cricket in our school. After reaching out to Isuzu, asking for a portion of the quote, they denied the school. This is on the back of us reaching out to them 2 years ago, on both occasions they have denied us. However they are sponsors to the elite (former ex model C schools) which can afford facilities like cricket nets, astro turfs etc. But our schools who are in need of funding are consistently denied funding breaks not only my my heart, but my children's future. It is very disappointing as most of these learners parents probably works (directly or indirectly) for companies like ISUZU, but won't support the schools that their children attend.
Bought a Pork and Lamb rib from Acres Spar in Port Elizabeth. Was prepping for the BOK game. And what a disappointment at the quality of their ribs. The lamb rib full of sinews a tough eat. Their Pork Rib more a like a pork chop. Really disappointing bad quality. Really bad quality. Their once good standards have dropped far below acceptable standards. If could post photos I would.
