I took a personal loan from ABSA Bank and I also have a credit card with them. I was retrenched on 10 December 2024 and because I have retrenchment insurance on both I registered claims with ABSA Insurance to assist me through this difficult time of unemployment. When I took out the credit card as well as the loan, both were done online and finalized telephonically, therefore I never received the insurance documents from ABSA with all the fine print. I changed jobs in the mean time and because of that I was retrenched 6 days before I was permanently employed by the company. ABSA Insurance now rep**** to my claims with the following: Because I was not yet permanently employed by the company (a company which I worked for for 2 and a half years prior, I was gone for a year and they begged me to come back) they declined both my claims. Is it fair that I be penalized for something that was out of my control as I was retrenched involuntarily on 10 December 2024 as well as everyone else that worked for them? I have never missed a payment. What is the point of insurance if they decline any form of employment contracts and I was not aware thereof as I never received the insurance documents from them. HOW WILL I NOW PAY THESE INSTALLMENTS WITHOUT ANY MEANS OF AN INCOME?

I bought a 2017 Nissan NP300 from MyRide Isuzu Westonaria on 28 July 2023. At the time I lived between Mokopane and Marken. On 28 July 2023 on my way to MyRide Isuzu in Westonaria, I got a phone call from Johan van der Walt (Dealer Principal Manager) to tell me there is now suddenly a problem with the pilot bearing in the gearbox and I informed him that I was only approximately 20km from them after already driving 460km. Upon arriving there, we took the said bakkie for a test drive and all seemed well so I decided to buy the vehicle. I signed the bank contract, traded my 2019 VW Polo in and got a GWM loan bakkie to go home. On Sunday 6 August 2023 the sales lady, Franselle du Preez brought us the vehicle and we met her in Bela-Bela after which we drove home which was another 160km. When arriving on the farm the bakkie was broken again, Gearbox problem and I informed them first thing the Monday morning 7 August 2023. The vehicle was collected that same day and they promised to rectify all the problems with the vehicle, as well as a full list of what I could see what was wrong with the vehicle. On 4 September they brought the vehicle back to me as we were moving to North-West province on 8 September 2023. The gearbox was apparently replaced and the starter was replaced. When I got the vehicle, it was still leaking oil from the gearbox and the starter didn't work properly as the vehicle would only start every now and then. I again reported this to them and all of a sudden they started ignoring me. We moved and now live 160km from them. They then ignored me until I received a phone call from them on 15 September 2023 when they wanted me to reactivate the tracker that I had in the VW Polo that I traded in, and I refused. I got them to acknowledge that they would rectify everything and they agreed via email that they would fix everything at NTT Nissan Klerksdorp. If it wasn't for the Polo that was ****** I would probably still be trying to get hold of them today. The bakkie went to Nissan, it was there for a month and 1 day as they had to import parts, but in the meantime MyRide only approved repairs that they saw fit to the vehicle and everything was not fixed. These people are dishonest, they sell s**** vehicles to honest middle class people and basically rob them of their money. I am now sitting with a vehicle that I cannot afford to fix myself, I can't trade it in as I haven't had it long enough and the settlement is too high. In the 3 months since I purchased this vehicle, I have only had the vehicle for 22 days of which most of the time I couldn't even drive the vehicle as a result of their dishonesty and very poor service repairing the vehicle properly. I just want to warn all other people to stay away from these people from MyRide, DO NOT let them catch you as they caught me by selling s**** to me.
I bought a VW Polo from a dealership in March 2023 and my insurance required a tracker. The dealership arranged for a month to month basis tracker in the Polo which costs me R169.00 per month. Everything was fine. In July 2023 I trade the Polo in and buy a Nissan NP300 and again my insurance requires a tracker. I contact Cartrack on 26 July 2023 to arrange for the tracker in the NP300 only to find out that the previous owner already had a Cartrack tracker in the NP300. Cartrack suggests I take over the tracker in the NP300 which will cost me R350.00 (Which they will deduct from my bank) for the transfer of ownership and then R170.00 per month (3 year contract) and also suggest we cancel the tracker in the VW Polo as that one is on a month to month basis. I agree to all this. On Saturday 12 August 2023 I get a threatening message from Cartrack stating that the R350.00 for change of ownership is outstanding. I contact Cartrack and ask why is was not debited from my account and the lady cannot give me an answer. So we arrange for a once of debit order for Monday 14 August 2023 and the debit order goes off and all is well again. Today, 16 August 2023 I get a notification of a debi check on my bank for a debit order authorization from Cartrack to the amount of R339.00 which is now for both the vehicles, but I cancelled the tracker for the VW Polo. I phone Cartrack in Polokwane today 16 August 2023 to enquire as to why there is a debit order for the amount of R339.00. The lady says it is for the 2 vehicles. I tell her the story about the Polo that was cancelled and she says there is no cancellation for the VW Polo and then puts me through to accounts department. I speak to the lady there, and she says the same. She then transfers me to Customer care and that lady says that the cancellation is there but that I have to authorize the debi check debit order mandate. I refused and declined both the debi check authorizations on my bank, both for the amount of R339.00 Cartrack has to get their facts straight, they have to learn how to work with clients and not threaten innocent people. I am not happy with your service as every time I try to sort out a problem I have to speak to someone else and the one knows less than the next one that I have to speak to. If Cartrack cannot get this problem solved, I will be forced to go to another tracking company, as well as to contact the ombudsman.
Refilwe Motloung knows her job very well. She assisted me and sorted my problem within minutes. Thank you Refilwe
I went to Lombard tyres in Thabazimbi yesterday to get a slow puncture fixed. The employee of Lombard tyres fixed the slow puncture and I left after paying R100. Approximately 200 meters from the tyre shop, my wife heard a rattle on the wheel they had just fixed, we stopped only to find that the wheel nuts were not locked so I did that myself. Then we went to Thaba Mall and did our weekly shopping as we live on a farm 30km outside Thabazimbi. When we came out of the mall, we found that the same tyre that had been fixed earlier had deflated to under 1 bar so I had to put the spare wheel on. By this time Lombard tyres was already closed so we headed home. This morning we went back after finding that the tyre in question was actually more damaged than when we had it repaired, there is actually a hole in my tyre now because the worker at Lombard tyresused that little ball grinder thing and actually grinded right through my tyre. The person behind the counter said that there is nothing he can do about it so he phoned the manager who was not present. They then said that they cannot really do anything about it, but they will put a tube inside the tyre, but there is still a hole in my tyre. I then said that they now owe me a tyre as they wrecked my tyre. The employee then said well that is my problem, they can only put more patches and a tube inside the tyre. I now cannot use that wheel of my car with that tyre as we are farmers and the tyre will surely only burst with a tube inside it on my farm roads. I am not happy with how the situation was handled by Lombard tyres and will never in my life go to any Lombard tyres shop again and I steongly advise anyone to stay as far away from Lombard tyres as possible because they refuse to accept responsibility for what they have done, and as everyone knows a 235/70/16 all terrain tyre is not cheap. Thank you for your absolute bad and unprofessional service Lombard tyres.
