I’m sharing my experience to help other private sellers, especially those dealing with high-value vehicles, make informed decisions. Why I decided to sell: In early January 2026, I made the decision to sell my 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S. The car was in excellent condition, well specced, and had low mileage (±18,000 km). Entering negotiations: I approached Jean-Pierre from Platinum Wheels and dealt with him in good faith. I re**** heavily on his experience and market knowledge to guide my decision, as most private sellers would. During our discussions (both written and telephonic), I was advised that: • A realistic selling price was around R4.2 million • Similar vehicles were typically standing for 3–4 months • Market conditions were soft • Pricing aggressively was necessary to move the car • There was some urgency to decide to sell to him because of other deals he was working on. Based on this information, I believed that holding the car would mean: • Incur additional costs • Limited upside on the selling price • A risk of further depreciation I made my decision based on the guidance I received and decided to accept a lower outright purchase offer rather than consigning the vehicle. I specifically made this decision because I believed: • The car would not sell quickly • The achievable price would not be materially higher than what was presented to me Had I been told otherwise, I would have chosen a different route. What actually happened: This is where my concern is. • The vehicle sold within three days • I was later informed it sold dealer-to-dealer for R4.5 million • The same vehicle was then resold again at a higher price for R4.7 million • On 5 February, after seeing the vehicle advertised yet again, this time by a dealership in Umhlanga for R5.2 million, I personally contacted the dealership to discuss the recent transaction history of the car. • During that conversation, I explained that I was the previous owner and asked how the vehicle had moved so quickly through the market. I was told, in their words, that “you were significantly underpaid for this car and should have received at least R4.2 million.” • I understand that this is the opinion of a third party, but hearing this from another dealer, particularly one now reselling the vehicle, reinforced my concern that the market value and demand for the car was not aligned with what I was told at the time. This outcome was completely inconsistent with the market picture that had been presented to me during negotiations with Jean Pierre. Why I feel wronged: I fully understand that dealers need to make a profit, that is not the issue. The issue is that: • The information I was given directly influenced my decision • The demand for the car appeared to be stronger than what was represented to me. • The achievable selling price was materially higher than communicated Based on what transpired, I believe I was financially prejudiced by approximately R300,000–R400,000. Final thoughts and advice: This was an expensive lesson for me. If this post helps even one person avoid a similar outcome, it will have served its purpose. I would encourage private sellers to carefully consider all options before dealing with Platinum Wheels.
I would like to share my experience with GoSolr so that others can make an informed decision. I signed up with GoSolr in 2023 with the promise of a hassle-free solar solution. Unfortunately, from the very beginning there were serious shortcomings. No site survey was done before installation, which led to the system being incorrectly specified and underperforming from day one. Despite being advised to sign a second agreement to “fix” the issue, the problems persisted. Over time, I dealt with repeated technical failures: incorrectly oriented CT clamps, misconfigured charging and backup settings, frequent mains tripping, and solar panels positioned incorrectly. Numerous service calls, WhatsApp messages, and emails later, the system still does not work as promised. Financially, this has been very damaging. On top of the GoSolr subscription fee of over R10 000 per month, I still had to pay between R4 000 and R6 000 per month to the council for electricity, meaning I ended up spending more than if I had never installed solar in the first place. Now that I am cancelling my services, GoSolr is charging me for two de-installation fees, one for each agreement, even though the second agreement only existed because of their own mis-specification. My hope is that GoSolr addresses these shortcomings and treats future customers more fairly. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend them based on what I have gone through.
I purchased 5 shirts from NMFP (Need Money For Porsche), 4 have arrived and I found the sizing and quality to be very poor, of the 4 that arrived, 2 shirts had the same tags and material and the other 2 shirts had different tags and materials. I have raised this with the person who had emailed me ‘Tiffany’ and have received no response, I also asked Tiffany to refund me for the 5th shirt before it is shipped to me, I have also received no response to this request.
We had the pleasure of dealing with Cleo Geldenhuys during the booking and management of all our travel arrangements for our Europe trip. What a pleasure, if it wasn't for her knowledge and tenacity, we would not have achieved what we set out to. Thank you, Cleo, for making our dream a reality and helping us build a memorable experience.
THIS IS A ***** COMPANY, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. I bought a diffuser and rear wing from this Company. I paid their invoice upon receipt and was informed about a week later that my order was enroute for delivery. When delivery didn't take place I contacted them and they asked me to send a WhatsApp which I did, they responded to that and told me that the order is scheduled for delivery. When I contacted them again they told me to send a WhatsApp again. I ended up sending someone to their address to get my order at 27 Stella Road, Montague Gardens, they don't exist at this address. Another business operates from this address.
We recently had the displeasure of dealing with House Hoppers. We would absolutely never, ever recommend them to anyone. STAY AWAY!!! When we started our engagements earlier this year, they were fast, friendly, efficient and helpful. We were still in the process of finalising the sale of our home and the purchase of our new home so there was uncer*****y around when we would move, but they were accommodating and moved our dates around a few times. Then came the time to move, on the day before the move we were contacted by the sales person to tell us we must pay an extra R10 000.00 for our move, despite us having already paid around R75 000.00 for our move, which by the way we had to paid in full upfront, which makes sense now, so they had our money before the move, giving us no recourse if anything went wrong. We refused to pay the additional R10 000.00 and eventually in the late afternoon, they informed us that the move was still on. The R75 000.00 we paid was meant to be for a turnkey solution, in which they came in, packed all of our belongings, moved our belongings and unpacked our belongings over 2-days so that we could be living seamlessly by the end of the second day. From our side there were certain belongings we could not have them unpack as there is still some repair work we are busy with, nevertheless, we made them aware of this and ensured we indicated which belongings these would be. What happened in reality, they decided which of our belongings should go where and which don't need to be unpacked or placed in the places they are meant to be. This has left us searching for our belongings all over, unpacking and unwrapping, and moving belongings that were meant to be done by them. In addition to this as we now progress through getting our home in a livable state, there are items that we cannot find or that have been broken, some broken items they are aware of and committed to replace or repair while we were moving, but we are not holding our breath on this as we know we will likely never hear from them again regarding these belongings. House Hoppers claimed that they would take care of us and our belongings and make this a stress- free experience. This experience has been the exact opposite, full of stress, very unpleasant, and very unprofessional. Anyone out there who is planning on using House Hoppers, rethink your decision. Retrospectively, using a “bakkie brigade” would have been a better option and so much cheaper.
We hired Bonus Brick and Paving aka Cloete Paving to pave around our pool area. They left the job site unfinished, dirty and broke some of our belongings. I have asked them to come repair the work and also sent pictures but have received no response from them. I honestly will not recommend their services to anyone based on the poor service we have received. The Team Leader (Tyni) of the crew that was sent to our home refused to listen to us when we asked him to do things according to our expectations. Their poor workmanship is further exacerbated following the heavy rains as we have major gaps between our paving now which is only 3 months old.
