I keep on received unsolicited email and SMSes from someone called PaymeNow -- seems to be a ****, block and report if you receive such.
These guys used to be good, but seem to have downhill. I contacted them about brown water coming out of my geyser. They sent a team out -- which was only on my premises for 5 minutes, and did not even look at the geyser. Instead they told me I needed to contact insurance (which I told them did not cover the geyser). They then made me sign on a phone, and left. Two days later I received an invoice for a R530 "call out fee" which had not been mentioned at any point, neither in the initial phone call, or when the team was on site, or even when I was requested to sign.
I don't take Hello Peter reviews lightly, but this is really bad. Over a month ago I logged a claim for storm damage due to the big storms in the Western Cape. It took over a week to get a response back from their 'administrator' 4-sure. I also had to sit on the line for something line 40 minutes on hold. Eventually they sent over a contractor that apparently did a quote. However 3 weeks later, another contractor was sent. This did not lead to any progress, and now they seem to have gone to ground, with no work being done, despite multiple emails, calls etc. Definitely cancelling them once this ordeal is over.
I purchased tickets for an international trip, many months in advance. Subsequently I noticed I had a typo in my name. I contacted Travelstart to get this corrected, but was informed "this was not possible due to 'rules'". I was also informed that my ticket was 'non-refundable', so I would need to cancel it (for no refund), and repurchase them. Given this is an international flight, this is not feasible. I did also contact the airline (Swiss) who informed me that the 'travel agent' (ie. TravelStart) would need to make the change. I contacted TravelStart and was again told the change could be made due to ...' rules'.... which is clearly bull****. I am currently sitting in a situation were I may need to cancel and repurchase expensive international tickets (for no refund) due to TravelStart being essentially *****ulent. Last time I will use them.
I applied for a bond via Better Bond. After much incompetence and confusion (mostly due to an employee called Princess Ntila), a partial FNB bond was granted. However it was not made clear to me that in order to get this bond, I needed to transfer all my accounts the FNB. This process turned out to be impossible, as FNB did not make any attempt to assist, and could not guarantee the same interest rates and services as my current bank. After much backwarding and forwarding I told the bank I could not transfer my accounts. After several weeks (and having paid 40% of the purchase price in cash), it was told be the transferring attorney (not BetterBond!) that the bond had been withdrawn. At no point was I notified this had happened. This apparently was the responsibility of BetterBond. I attempted to contact them, but the call was unanswered.
I purchased a SIM from them in August 2020 via Mrd Food (the delivery was great, that was not the problem). The RICA process also went great. However, the speed was terrible -- I was promised a "maximum of 10mbit" download, but was luckly to get 500kbit -- even though I checked the coverage map. But even that was not the issue, one cannot always tell how good the signal will be. So (understandably) I cancelled the subscription (which was R479 per month) and thought nothing of it. Until this month (Jan 2021) when I discovered they were still charging ne. After logging a billing enquiry, and eventually getting through to their call centre -- was I told that the cancellation had "failed" and not only that -- they made out it was my fault for not noticing the continuing billing, and told me "I should have followed up". The audacity! After calling several times and speaking to various different agents (and getting several different variants of the story) I eventually got through to their billing department. Who refunded me a single month (not 6 months) they had incorrectly billed. So i am still out of pocket. My suspicion is Rain is in such a financial mess that they can't actually refund me.
