It was supposed to be a special celebratory meal for our family before we were to attend the graduation ceremony of our youngest daughter who flew in specialy from KZN. The food was not worth the price we paid. E.g. one really does not expect hake as the line fish on a supposedly fine-dining menu. The fish tasted very fishy so I question the freshness. The 1st waiter who served us, Tshebang, was very friendly and helpful but the waiter who took over from him was too talkative and trying to be matey with us while rushing us to order. Ordering wine was a problem. The website clearly states "no corkage but bring one buy one is acceptable" . We brought wine and then it turned out to be an issue...we had to send poor Tshebang to the manager? 2x and show a printscreen before they were willing to let us have our own wine. Then, whe we chose the "buy one" wine, it was not available. 2 of us ordered the chicken to be told by the too talkative waiter that he would have to go and check if chicken was available. We knew it should be available as one of the chefs were cleaning a whole bunch of chickens as we walked in. I could go on e/g that 2 of the plates were chipped. It was really not a good experience.. We were very disappointed and will not recommend Grub and Vine to anyone. What made it even worse was that we were the ONLY party in the main restaurant so it was not as if these things happened because of having to service many customers
My husband mentioned that it was for our anniversary when he booked for dinner at Hussar Grill Somerset West. Apart from the food being so tasty and well cooked, we felt really special when the waiter for our table congratulated us when he seated us. We also received a complementary drink and they stencilled "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plates. Great customers service - well done. We will be back
The customer is NEVER right at Food Lovers Market Somerset mall even if he/she has proof that the store is/was in the wrong - the store manager and other management staff give LITTLE or NOW PRIORITY TO CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! If there was somewhere better to get fresh fruit and vegetables in bulk in the Somerset West area, FLM won't see me again. Prices on items (especially those on special) and those at the till OFTEN does not match, so I have learnt (from previous bad experiences) to take photos with my phone and show them at the cashier if there is a difference in prices. This measure does not even help in some cases. Yesterday was another example, I spent 35 min "haggling" with different staff members about a R7 difference on an item on the shelf vs at the till. While this was happening, another customer at a different till also complained about the same item and I showed him the photos that I had taken to proof the price on the shelf and still the management staff was not willing to admit their mistake and give us the money owed to us. I had taken photos of the big sign (special) on the shelf as well as of the barcode under the shelf - half a baby melon filled with fruit. On the barcode it only said "half a melon" so the manager kept telling me that it was not the price for the one filled with fruit. Even though the price on and under the shelf was posted with the ones filled with fruit. (Funnily there were no half melons on display anywhere else in the shop) and the whole baby melons were at a totally different price. Woolworths is expensive yes, but at least they never query a customer who has a complaint, they just apologize, replaces the item immediately and sometimes even give a free item or a discount. I am still waiting for an apology, wasted a lot of my time, lost my temper, had to finally fill in a form and got the R7 back n the item. Even then , the staff members involved kept repeating that I was wrong. I wonder how many other people paid R7 too much for that item yesterday and if the other customer who complained got his money back.
Little gem in Witsand. Great ambience, service, food, personal touch Small menu that is executed perfectly - best croissants I have eaten - ever! Spend a wekend in Witsand and had our meals at Spasie 4 times

What an unexpected surprise in Somerset West! Beautiful, tranquil garden area, play area for kids with treehouse, old motorbikes etc, Inside is a fireplace, pristine white tablecloths with good quality cutlery, vintage tables and chairs, professionally dressed attentive and friendly waiters (my husband even played a game of chess against one of them while we waited for our food) and good food. Replaced ugly, black telephone lines with thicker, uglier fibre lines (above ground) using old ugly, existing poles and refusing to remove existing black ugly lines... Too much work for 1 day and want to save money.. According to contractor.
Ordered and paid for items on 22 March 2020 - kept getting excuses that it is due to Lockdown that I have not received my items. Many emails later I went to Capitec to try and get the payment reversed but the account I paid to has been closed. The account holder was CG Middleton who had an account at Technopark Stellenbosch - have not been able to get hold of this person at all
