Visited the Istore today to check out the new AirPod 4 pro. They are purported to work as hearing aids, which would be my reason for purchase. Asked for a demo of the product, which would be standard practice at an audiologist or even SpecSavers, and was informed that I couldn’t demo a R6k purchase. Nor would I be allowed to return them if they didn’t do what they were advertised to do. The sales associate told me this policy was ‘for hygiene reasons’. Did some research, learned that in the USA, EU, Australia, and New Zealand Istores have demo pairs and a cleaning/sanitising protocol in place. And the South African Consumer Protection Act says that anything purchased at retail that does not meet with the customer’s satisfaction must be accepted for return within ‘a reasonable period of time’. Here’s a useful link: https://www.westerncape.gov.za/other/2011/3/consumer_protection_act.pdf So not only is Apple not serving their intended market, folks with moderate hearing loss, they’re breaking the law. Come on Apple South Africa, you can do better. #Apple #Istore #AppleSouthAfrica #bobleftsetz
I recently had two opportunities to use the services of Steven’s & Co., the company that runs the Ryobi retail and repair shop in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. Both were excellent experiences. The service was first rate and the team, especially Jason in the repair shop, were great examples of how to serve and relate to customers. What a pleasure. I can recommend them wholeheartedly and without reservation. Well done Ryobi!
Almost 7 years ago, when we started building our off-the-grid homestead in Tulbagh, we needed to find a solar power materials distributor to mentor us through the set up and installation of our system. A neighbor introduced us to Solar Solved, which was then a tiny company based in Milnerton. They were great, led us through each step of the process, never pressuring us to buy more than what we needed, while providing excellent service every step of the way. Over the years we’ve re**** on them for troubleshooting advice, repairs, and upgrades. But now, in terms of their business, we are tiny customers. They’ve grown to be one of the most respected independent suppliers of solar power equipment in the area. Yet the other day when we had an emergency with our LiO battery, they diagnosed the problem, and did a major repair with a very quick turnaround. We were treated as if we were their largest customer! We’re so grateful to them for their great service and would, and do, recommend them wholeheartedly. https://www.facebook.com/solarsolved.co.za?mibextid=LQQJ4d
My wife and I were scammed by an unscrupulous solar battery seller. Once we identified the fraud, we contacted FNB’s fraud division. We were assured that our transaction with the fraudsters had been frozen and if we sent in the required documentation, the transaction would be reversed. We provided all the requested material, were told that it was received in good order and that we’d have resolution i 19-31 days. It’s now almost two months on and we haven’t had an update, nor have we been able to contact anyone at fnb who can help. We’ve made numerous phone, sent emails. The best response we’ve had was a promise of a return call “with 15-30 minutes.” Two weeks on we’re still awaiting that call. The fraud represents a significant amount of money in our lives as working musicians. There are serious medical matters on hold until these funds are returned to us. We’re getting no help from fnb.
“#Makro #MassMart #Ryobi I purchased a Ryobi Brush Cutter from Makro. Used it four times. It fell apart. I returned it for a refund within the 6 month period set out in Sections 55 & 56 of the SA Consumer Protection Act, as it was obviously not ‘fit for purpose’. I’ve been getting the runaround from Makro for weeks now. I want my money back, as is my right. #MassMart has policies that go against SA law. ‘2 week window for refund or exchange’. Nice try. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.”
