This medical scheme just doesn’t care about the well being of their patients/clients, you’ll Pay thousands at the end of each month out of your own pocket as they will always come with excuses not to pay claims and find lousy excuses as to why they won’t pay the doctors even if it’s their own consultants who gave you the assurance that it will be paid as the benefits / funds are there , I called this scheme twice before going to my antenatal check up and scan to get assurance it will be covered and I was told yes but guess what they are coming with lousy excuses not to pay , mind you they don’t care that I’m pregnant and the stress this is putting me and my unborn baby under , I’ve called multiple times spoke to managers but the issue I have with them is still not solved and I’ve been patient , I waited the days I was told to wait for the case to be looked into , I had to call back to find out if it was resolved and it wasn’t , I guess the scheme is telling me it’s not important that I won’t see my doctor this month as I can’t consult unless the funds are paid , my well being is not priority to a medical scheme and they keep on proving this to me daily , jokes are on me and my mother who kept encouraging her colleagues that gems is good while they warned us it’s not, I’m on Emerald and someone I know who is on Ruby got the same scan at the same weeks and it was paid but me to who pays more it was rejected , make that make sense please , don’t go with gems rather look for another scheme they’ll stress you out
I’m so disappointed and very much frustrated with this medical scheme, I can’t believe I’m under so much stress while in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy, in December 2025 I went for my antenatal check up and we did an anatomy scan at 19 weeks and a few days , Gems rejected the claim and only paid for the consultation as they said I should be between 20 to 24 weeks in order for them to pay for the anatomy scan, i understood and settled the remaining balance , I then called the scheme and asked if I can redo the scan as I’ll be in the required gestational week to do the scan according to their policy and the consultant I spoke to ( Jimmy from the maternity dept) said yes as he could see from their side it does show that I was 24 weeks at the time which was the (16 of Jan 2026), the consultant even gave me the code the doctor should use in order for the claim to be processed, the doctor did exactly that as that’s what I told him as that’s what I was advised by the consultant but the claim was rejected yet again, I called the maternity dept and the consultant I spoke to (Mangaliso) asked why did they not pay cause she could see on the system that I was 24 weeks, she then reached out to their claims dept and asked why they did not pay and as usual they came with stories , their reason was that I was 24 weeks and 4 days and they require me to be 24 weeks straight yet that’s not what I was told when I called in, I was told as long as I’m 24 weeks and not 25 weeks , even if it’s 24 weeks and a few days, I made sure to call the scheme and asked if I could redo the scan again and the answer I got was yes but now they don’t want to pay yet I got this advise from their team, I’m honestly so frustrated and my BP is sky rocketing cause they don’t want to pay, why must I always use money out of my pocket while there is a scheme we pay each month, this can not be my responsibility as the consultant told me they would pay and reassured me, as I was well within the required weeks to get the scan, that call can be listened to as I do have the reference number for it , it’s honestly not fair and not right what gems is putting me through, the consultant was very friendly and very helpful and I don’t blame him but the claims dept always finds reasons to come with stories not to pay, I will not pay this doctor as the scheme needs to own up to the advise I got and pay as I did exactly what I was advised
I’m so disappointed with MTN South Africa, I have a contract with MTN which I defaulted due to retrenchment, I called MTN to ask what can be done as from August 2024 I won’t be able to pay but I’m willing to pay as soon as I sign another contract, the consultant did advise that’s not possible as I need to pay each month even if I pay an amount lesser than what I’m debited, unfortunately I was not able due to unemployment, February this year I called MTN to ask that they debit from March as I’ve signed another contract and the amount which I owe I will pay aside, they said that’s not possible and I should pay the full amount all at once which I don’t have, they then sent me a pre-cancellation email which stated I must pay the full amount of R11967.3 at once which I didn’t have, I sent emails to their legal team where they now said the amount remaining is R17779.05, and for the contract to be reinstated I must pay an amount of over R9000+ at once which I still don’t have and I told them I will pay for the device alone without data and airtime as I can’t afford the amount they are insisting I pay, the balance remaining for the device is the one they sent on their first email of R11967.3 but now they want to me pay extra money for data and airtime I didn’t use which I did state I don’t want it but I can pay for the device monthly, instead they took my account to NuDebt who are now demanding I pay R18447.20, I don’t have the money they are demanding from me and they are refusing for me to pay for the device alone which I did state I can pay it in monthly instalments, I’ve sent emails and emails and they just responded by stating that my account has been handed over, it’s so disappointing, the consultant I spoke to even stated that I used to pay my account on time before I lost my job and I was willing to pay the amount remaining for the device alone with out MTN’s data and airtime but they want to ****** money from me which I don’t have.
If you don’t want to receive threats regarding an account you’ve already settled which your medical aid also paid for don’t consider this institution, this people sent me multiple threats via email which said I’ll be ITC listed for an outstanding balance which I settled after they notified me that my medical aid didn’t pay a balance due to them , I advised that I am unemployed once I get the funds to pay I will do so, which I did but guess what they sent me to collections claiming I still owe them an amount of R400.00 , which was already settled, the R400.00 turned to an additional R500.00 (R900.00 in total) , I sent email with POP that the R400.00 was paid but that was not enough according to them I owe them , they will send you to collections for an account which has been settled , so much for helping people deal with depression just to add to that depression , go to them at your own risk

Rain internet services are the worst , for days now I have been calling asking them to cancel their services but they have not been responding to emails or calls instead they’ll switch off the internet and then switch it on again so they can bill you over and over again , I sent emails , called etc , advised that I will pay for month of May use and beyond that I don’t need the services but they don’t want to cancel , they trying to bill my account and causing my account to be charged fees for insufficient funds , I’m so done with you people , sies man , to think I recommend all my sisters to use your services gives me the creeps cause I know you will do the same thing to them should they need to cancel your services mxm
Thank you to standard bank and the standard team for resolving the issue I had with an account that was accumulating funds while it was not in use ,the student account was successfully closed by the bank with no fee paid.
I'm writing this review for a million times now ,I'm beyond disappointed with this institute, how can I owe you R5000.00 for a card that I no longer have ,a student account for that matter ,I've been asking this bank to close this account so many times but they refuse in the name of me owing them 5k for an account I don't have, the card even expired a long time ago but I get statements after statements, someone from the bank contacted me after my first review stating that this matter will be fixed but it was just lies as nothing has been fixed as yet, don't bank with standard bank they are not a good bank ,how can you charge me for a bank account that's not in use.
Standard bank is charging me over R5000.00 in bank charges for an account I haven't used in over 7 years. The card has also expired but you guys keep charging me bank charges, on top of that I'm a student ,where do you expect me to get such kind of money, I've been begging you guys to close it but you don't want as you say I must pay the balance
Standard bank has been sending me statements for an account which u haven't been using for the past 6 years which was a student account. The card has expired and they are still charging me for the account. I've asked them to close the account but they refused and the money keeps increasing, I don't have the money they asking for on top of that I'm unemployed
