I booked a trip on the UBER App from OR Thambo to Moreleta Park, Pretoria. The trip was booked on UBER Cash, so it was being paid out of my UBER account balance. When the driver arrived he wanted actual cash as he didn't have fuel in his vehicle. I said I didn't have cash and therefore would need to cancel the trip and book another UBER, which I did immediately. UBER then charged me for the full fee of R437-00 even though I immediately reported it, and paid for another UBER for the exact same trip. This boils down to theft. UBER support would not address the problem (even though their history support my version of events) so they actually condone this ********* practice! I have deleted my UBER account and will never use UBER again.
I have been a Vodacom customer for more that 20 years. I have several telephone line contracts with Vodacom and moved into a new premises in a residential area in Cape Town two weeks ago. The signal is POOR, to the extent that you cannot have a telephone conversation at all. I reported this to Vodacom customer care on 1st November and was assured the technical team would contact me. I have done several follow-ups with customer care, but with no results. If I don't get the service I deserve as a valued customer, I will need to move my business to an alternative service provider.
I purchased a Range Rover Sport from Ashwin Sewpersad CC (also known as ASCC), a business owned by Ashwin in Stellenbosch. Throughout the sales process, they made numerous commitments regarding their supposed exceptional post-sales service. However, my experience was completely contrary to their promises. The vehicle was not ready on the agreed-upon delivery date, and when I finally received it, I encountered several issues. Although they addressed some minor problems, they insisted that the unusual brake pedal movement was normal. Within two weeks of having the vehicle, the cruise control radar malfunctioned, and the brake master cylinder failed, leaving the vehicle with no brakes. Despite my numerous attempts to contact them via calls and messages, I received no response. I feel it's important to warn potential buyers about this dealership, as you may come to regret your purchase if anything goes wrong.
We took my wife's Range Rover Evoque to Gateway Offroad Centre for servicing. During the service, I also requested that they investigate a water leak issue, as we were regularly topping up the coolant. They contacted my wife and informed her that the radiator needed replacement. I promptly contacted the workshop manager, expressing my suspicion that it might be the water pump, but he assured me it was indeed the radiator. Based on his recommendation, we approved the replacement. The following day, we received a call stating that the water pump also required replacement. Upon collecting the vehicle, I requested the old radiator and had it examined for leaks by an independent radiator shop, which confirmed that it had no leaks. I brought this issue up with "Nekkies," the owner, who, in writing, offered to reinstall the old radiator and refund the expenses for both the new radiator and labour. I accepted the offer and had the old radiator put back in. However, it took almost a month and numerous email exchanges, and they only refunded the cost of the radiator, not the R2000-00 we paid for the labour to install it. Since then, the vehicle has been functioning perfectly with the old radiator, not requiring any additional coolant even after covering more than 1000 km. The radiator obviously were never a problem. I'm sharing this story to caution others about this ********* business that takes advantage of the public.
I had the privilege of buying a vehicle from Percy this month. I experienced excellent service from the moment I walked through the front door right through to the delivery in Cape Town. The finance process through Shawn was also very professional and super-efficient. I know what the challenges are and what “excellent” service means – and they exceeded all my expectations. As service delivery is also a direct reflection of the management team, I would also like to extend my thanks to them as well. You have an awesome team and I wish you success going forward!
