Amazon South Africa

I would not recommend buying an expensive item from them as they don't honour warranties.
I bought a curved Samsung monitor in Dec 2025. By January 2026, the screen had started becoming "uncurved" - and a long white band was visible on the top. This was only 5 weeks old, but Amazon informed me their warranty is only 30 days. I advised them that this is contrary to the CPA, but they said their terms and conditions supersede the CPA. how this is possible I don't know, but I will be lodging a case with the consumer ombud as this was an expensive item. I would not recommend buying an expensive item from them as they don't honour warranties.

*****ulent charge
*****ulent charge. I closed my myUS account a long time ago. Last night in the middle of the night I received a notification that a package had been delivered for me, and I needed to re-open my account to see what it was. I chose the FREE option. They required a $1 credit card confirmation charge, which I paid. Then I saw the package WAS NOT FOR ME. And thought nothing more of it. When I woke up the next morning, they had charged me a further $20. I would like to confirm that I did not authorise any payments, request any services or even ship any packages. How and why they could charge me anything, is beyond me. In any case, I have disputed this as a *****ulent transaction with my bank.

Did not honour pricing on order. Tried to hide the facts from me.
TLDR: We had a confirmed transaction, they told me they did not have stock, and it turns out they did have stock, but they refused to honour the transaction. Long version: I bought and paid for batteries on their website after following a google ad. My payment was accepted, my order was confirmed. Then a few days later I received an e-mail that their supplier no longer had stock and that they would need to refund me. I accepted the refund, what else could I do? Yet, a few days later, I was searching for batteries again (clearly I still need batteries), and here it pops up again. The same batteries, just now at double the price, confirmed in stock. I confirmed this with them and they said they have them, in their warehouse. Their explanation around this didn't really make sense to me. My belief is that they made a mistake on pricing (it was quite cheap but not ridiculously so) but felt it easier to try to convince me that they did not have stock, rather than admit they made a pricing error. Possibly there is also CPA implications. "Out of stock" - nothing can be done. But pricing error - that's debatable about whether they are bound by it. As I stated, this wasn't a blatant or "obvious error", as has been pointed out that the CPA would not apply to blatantly obvious errors. I believe they should have honoured the price advertised (and not just advertised, legally speaking the transaction had been done. I was charged on my credit card and had received an order confirmation) or then, if it was truly an error, they should have played open cards with me.

Grey imports sold, not communicated as such
Grey Imports not properly identified at MAKRO. I ordered a Kindle at Makro. NOWHERE on the adverti*****t does it say grey import. nowhere, I double checked. Then when it arrives it says on the box with a big sticker, parallel import. This is clearly something you need to let the customer know before.

False advertising at Makro.
False advertising at Makro. They advertise KINDLE branded covers but the real thing received is either GENERIC or branded COBAK. When I contacted them about it, they tellme: send the FSN ID or we can't help you. What is an FSN ID?!? The product is either **** or falsely advertised. How can this happen in 2024?
