I was badly injured by an 87 y.o. paralised resident of Evergreen Retirement Village in Muizenberg, who was blind in 1 eye and was dragged into her car and placed in the drivers seat by 5 security guards. This happenned in the parking area of Checkers in Muizenberg last year. I have Post Traumatric Injury Syndrome and suffer headaches as a result of going through the windscreen of my car. I was making a telephone call, so did not have a seat belt on as the car was not moving. I had no transport for 6 weeks, R185000 damage. Evergreen Muizenberg allowed her to drive a car knowing that she had had a stroke. I dont think she could walk to the bathroom. Yet she was driving. Why was her family nor contacted ? Why were her car keys not taken from her? No supervision, no care, the "manager " said I was trouble when I complained and walked away. A rude, unhelpful woman. DONT BUY HERE. You are not safe, as their advertising says. This is a **** show of a place. Avoid it. All they want is your money. They are supposed to be a Nursing and care facility. My Foot. If someone has had a stroke the staff are supposed to monitor that person all the time, irrespective of whether you live in a cottage or are in frail care. Thats what happens in other similar facilities. I have done the research.They are responsible for the care of their residents. Oviously not at EVERGREEN MUIZENBERG> All these details can be confirmed by the security at the Checkers centre, the police, the panel beaters, and medical staff who attended to me. Pick n Pay Asap does not work. You pay for groceries which are never delivered. When you ask for a refund you have to beg for 6 days, and they still do nothing. You can phone their H O , nothing works. I have lost R476.44 which i will never see again. This is a BAD service, dont use it. It is run by *********** people who dont know what they are doing.
A few months ago a resident of this establishment who was blind in one eye, 87 years old and paralyzed on her right side, drove into the back of my very expensive convertible Mercedes Benz causing R185000 worth of damage. She was carried into her car by 5 security guards and a carer and placed in the drivers seat. It took 5 weeks to repair my car. I was also without a vehicle during the repairs, and without an income for the same time. +- R200.000. I also have whiplash, back problems and headaches. she hit the back of my stationary vehicle in a parking lot. Besides all the BS this retirement organization advertises, they do not look after their residents. They are careless, *********** and downright rude. When I approached the Manageress of the facility in question (Muizenberg) she was arrogant and extremely rude. She made it very clear that she was too busy to talk to me, as I was going to "make trouble". A very unpleasant person. I wanted to know how they could allow a person in a condition like that drive a vehicle, or even allow her to leave the facility. She wrote off 2 cars and injured a car guard very badly. She has caused an accident before and could have killed someone, or their child, as this is a busy carpark. In my opinion they should have taken her keys away from her long ago. But it is clear that they are more interested about money than the elderly that are placed in their care. At other similar retirement facilities, anyone who has had a stroke is not allowed to leave the facility without permission, their exact destination, and who they are going with. I know because i have done the research. THERE IS NO EXCUSE. These people just dont care. SO WHATEVER YOU DO, THINK TWICE ABOUT THE LEVEL OF CARE YOU ARE GOING TO RECIEVE FROM EVERGREEN, AND FOR GODS SAKE DONT PUT YOUR ELDERLEY PARENT(s) in Evergreen. They dont know what they are doing. They are in it for the money. They are ***********, uncaring, careless, and irresponsible. My big question is this : How did they get her into her vehicle, if 5 people had to carry her like a bag of cement to get her behind the wheel, how come they let her leave the facility. What does this tell you ?
I have lived in this area for almost 50 years. Recently I reported 4 cases to the Muizenberg Police. I don't know what they are here for. They have an office on the hill, but nothing happens there. Over the past 4 months I have reported, a case of ******, wreckless driving, previously I was attacked and reported that i had been stabbed in my garage, also crimen injuria. and theft. Guess what happened to all of them......................NOTHING. Recently I went to see the "station Commander", I walked into his office, and he shouted at me to ask if I had an appointment to see him. No "good morning", "May I help you ?" nothing. Eventually I managed to get him to very reluctantly look up my identity no on his computer. NOT 1 CASE I HAD REPORTED, WAS EVER LOGGED ONTO THEIR SYSTEM. Due to the reckless driving of another motorist in the Muizenberg area, I have lost a very large sum of income, as I was involved in an accident caused by a reckless driver. I reported this, and now realize it's been a waste of time., A Mr. Geldenhuys is still investigating. They never answer their phones, sit around eating all the time, and do absolutely nothing as a police force. I don't know what they don't just close that badly placed police station and turn the building into a homeless shelter. At least it will serve some purpose. At the moment its wasting the taxpayers money. All they do is eat and shout at each other. Another example of how useless the police have become in this country. Another dismal failure.
The best service I have ever recieved from an insurance company. Absolutely amazing in these times. Very helpful, able to answer all my questions, concerns explain everything in detail. Fantastic company. I can recommend them highly without any hesitation to everyone. Sidney Farrell-Thorne
RCS holds on to your payment for a week before processing it to your card account. "Company policy" I am told. This way they earn an enormous amount of interest on your delayed payment while you pay interest at an enormous rate on your credit card with them because your payment has been sitting in their investment account somewhere.. This is in addition to the interest they make on your account when you owe them money. If you pay a credit card at a normal bank it is in your account either immediately or the next day. Not at RCS, they are ripping the public off. 7 days of interest income on your money while you pay them even more on the balance on your account for those seven days. So they score at both ends. This is a huge rip-off at your expense. I aim to get rid of this card ASAP. If you have an RCS card, check out how long it takes for your payment to reach your card. They are laughing all the way to the bank, at your expense. This is how we get ********** every day.
Since my last complaint about this useless insurance company, they have done nothing to sort out the problem with my car claim. All I get is emails and no feedback. So today I am fetching my car which has not been repaired. They have ****** my premiums. they have **** to me, they have made false promises. They have wasted almost 4 WEEKS OF MY TIME TRYING TO SORT OUT A SMALL CLAIM. They are a bad *********** COMPANY. I am reporting them to the Ombudsman for short-term insurance today and to the Consumer protection Council. They should not be allowed to operate. Im sick of being **********.
3 Weeks ago I submitted a claim for my vehicle. For 3 weeks I have not had any response. They told me that they have approved the claim yet refuse to give the service provider Ronwick Motors the authorization to repair my vehicle as per what the assessor has apparently approved. I have spoken to them and they constantly tell me they have sent the approval. The service provider has not received anything. I have been without my vehicle for 3 weeks, and they lie to me all the time, don't ever insure your vehicle with this company. They are BAD news, and extremely unprofessional. They don't return calls, their staff is untrained, and don't know what they are doing. A disaster of an insurance company.
