Home Affairs Mossel Bay (Kwanonqaba) - arrived at 09H45 during load shedding (load shedding terminated at about 10H10), walked out at 11H20 with my applications for two different certificates completed / paid for. The gent who took control of the numerous people (I assume he was a Xhosa man) was very tidy, helpful, humorous and consequential. I thought that most of the staff there were in fact very good. Thats my experience which is largely contrary to that which we the citizens of SA mostly know and experience about the department. Take a bow Home Affairs Mossel Bay.
Yesterday morning (14 May), I was invited to a breakfast at this esteemed establishment the Oubaai Hotel and Spa. On entering the breakfast room, the first thing that I noticed were the filthy windows. And I know the place is next to the sea and this fact is a problem but I too live next to the sea so I know what it takes to keep windows clean. Then it was time to start eating, with a serving of either fruit, or cereal, or the traditional bacon and egg type breakfast. We were informed by guests there before us, not to drink the coffee from the machine but rather that the kitchen make us fresh coffee. Well that was a 15 minute saga to get our coffee and when we did, it was without either warm or cold milk. When it came to the breakfast itself they ran out of scrambled eggs and the hot food stuffs were anything but hot / warm. The "container" which had scrambled egg in it was empty and was that way for the duration of our breakfast. As we left, so a fresh batch arrived. No, we were not the last to arrive we were there pretty early with golfers streaming in ready for the days fun. The table at which we sat, had a damaged top surface with the chipboard exposed. We were told later that there were issues with the cooking equipment in the kitchen. While that may well be true - problem solve the problem - the dilemma isn't any concern of paying guests. The kitchen lacks hands on management. But wait that’s not all. The family I was with, who were guests at the hotel not with one room but three huge suites, had booked a private function room at the clubhouse for 14 people for a 50th birthday. When we got there, and that after confirming in the afternoon that all was prepared for our arrival, we witnessed that our function room had been occupied by another group of people. It’s a guess-did they walk in and just take over the function room or were they escorted to the function room without checking or was there a double booking? What goes through me is that a traditional Afrikaans surname cannot be confused with an African name / surname - the point I’m making is the people that took over our function room would definitely not have an Afrikaans surname so that should have set off an alarm bell something isn’t right with the welcoming receptionist. I’ll cut the story short - from this point onwards at the last moment we hastily had to find another venue in George to accommodate 14 people for the celebration. I believe the Oubaai owners ought to know their business (based on our experience) isn’t in good shape and neither is it in good hands.

And now for something different. Before contracting any company, I research their business and opinions of others on Hellopeter. I shouldn't have used Pro-X if their reviews were anything to go by. (There are always 3 sides to a story). 12 years ago, my marblite pool was lined with fibreglass. It was time for a "makeover". And so after the Hellopeter reviews, I called insurance companies for their experiences and obtained opinions from pool companies not in the "makeover" business. I needed comfort I was making a decent decision. I state comfortably, I rate Pro-X pools highly. Belinda their office manager and communicator was 1st class in keeping me in the loop with intended activities and planning. Their construction staff (thanks Phillip) are truly well mannered and respectful. It was refreshing. My pool was completed to my satisfaction and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to you. Having a military background isn't exactly helpful wrt the building industry's antics here in the Outeniqua region but this time around, I enjoyed our mutual business being conducted professionally. Thanks Pro-X.

I have been using Auto Pro Body Repairs for circa 7/8 years. They have consistently been decent and have strived for perfection wrt my various vehicles. I collected my Isuzu "bakkie" from them yesterday and asked for the account. They said "no" as the work done is considered to be a guarantee repair. The work? Some rust / corrosion on the leading edge of the bonnet and other minor corrosion blemishes. They didn't have to acknowledge it was a repair under guarantee but without any song and dance, gave me my keys and sent me on my way - a truly astonished yet happy customer. Baie dankie Rudi en Amirien. Wel gedaan. Your honesty is refreshing.
Andre Groenewald gives me a negative rating and impacts on my credible rating and decency all because I never acquired 2 X batteries (R118-00) from him. My security service provider informed me NOT to acquire the batteries as it became unnecessary. I don't believe anyone is compelled to state as to why one doesn't buy from a provider. This nonsense was completely unnecessary.
Window tinting in the Garden Route - most professional. Great communication, worked quietly and efficiently, productive, well mannered.
PLEASE STOP YOUR STUPID RECORDED SALES. I never gave you permission to incessantly bother me with your ****.
