Momentum handed my pension fund over to another entity in Namibia, a foreign country, without my approval. Now it is a daily struggle to communicate with the new entity, as the communication channel approved in my official file, namely an email address, is not accepted by the new entity in Namibia, or Namibia did not read the file. There is no other way of communicating with my life-giving pension, so crucial communication is not being attended to like it was before the hand-over, for example: On 17 February the required annual Proof of Existence certificate was emailed to Momentum Namibia, asking for acknowledgement of receipt. Three days later Namibia indicated the certificate is missing, so it was sent again and again, asking for feedback. Again no feedback was given, appearing as if the email address previously approved, is not accepted anymore for correspondence. There is not even an automatic acknowledgement of requests as is common practice in South Africa. This Proof of Existence also contains my new phone number, therefore both email and phone number are now in limbo until Momentum Namibia accepts it. How are we supposed to communicate in the meantime? I spent three days being wheel-chaired between police stations, post offices, and assistants with computers, without this correspondence getting resolved. Now I have to arrange new assistants next week to try again. The Post Office has no way of getting a letter safely to Namibia, it has to be email. This unapproved hand-over of my pension to a foreign agent is not going well. I sent crucial correspondence to Namibia regarding this pension, for which I need assistants to come and help me each time, but then there is no response from Windhoek, so I have to rearrange assistance again for another time. Instead of always just complaining, I think one should give credit to the team who answer and follow up complaints here on Hello Peter. Every time there is fast reaction, solutions and follow up until it happens. There is no better customer service experience in this forlorn country, than here on Hello Peter and, in particular, Sanlam. I would feel completely helpless without this support. Thank you.
I used to be able to transact with Sanlam for decades by completing forms, but now that is phased out, I have to register online. As 91-year old frailcare patient with no internet access, I had to waste hours of my children's time to help me register, but the cellphone PIN never comes and I told them to go home. I am therefore technologically excluded from accessing my own decades-old investments. My own hard-earned money out of reach due to Sanlam's elderly-unfriendly policies. I would rather cash in my investments than face this situation, it is stressful. Please provide me with a face-to-face Afrikaans appointment at a wheelchair-friendly Sanlam office in Pretoria to personally bring all my documents to do a disinvestment before my mobility deteriorates further. I will get family to bring me there any time in the next two weeks before their university begins. I have only 15% hearing, all communication must be by email or in person.
