Ordered a Regina pizza at 18:32 via Uber Eats. Delivery was schedules fot 19:15 but delayed to 20:00. Got a cold pizza at 20:00. My first and last Uber Eats order.
On 27 May 2025 I purchased a pair of Salomon shoes for R3199.00 and paid by credit card. I received confirmation of my order as well as a tracking number on 28 May. On 5 June I emailed Salomon asking about my order and received a response that they would look into the matter urgently. On 09 June 2025 I received another email asking whether my order had been delivered to which I responded no. Seems like an expensive lesson. Whatever you do, think twice before ordering from Salomon online.
I have previously complained about the pathetic service I received from ABSA. It took me more than a month and several trips as well as many emails to open up a simple business account. Last week they notified me that my bank card was awaiting collection at Menlyn Maine. I drove there with the required ID card but was told that the business manager had not as yet authorized the collection of the card, even though the bank clerk had it in her hand. Several calls later I was told that they could not get hold of anyone to authorize the release of my card, Pathetic service as seems to be the norm at ABSA. I suggested they throw it into a garbage bin! A word of warning - never make the same ,mistake that I made and open any account at ABSA!
I recently purchased a house and got a bond from ABSA. AS the house is registered in a company I had to deal with ABSA Corporate in Menlyn. My initial dealings to open an account were with Netta Buchanan but she could not assist as I had already been allocated to Heindrich Havenga in Johannesburg. It took more than two weeks for them to open the account and I requested that my account be transferred to Pretoria where I live. Since then I have sent several emails requesting access to the ABSA App and a physical bank card but to no avail - they both just ignore my emails. I have never banked with ABSA before and already regret doing business with them. Absolutely pathetic!
I am a big fan of Kingsley Heath clothing. Top quality and often horribly overpriced but it is by far my favourite shop. A recently purchased garment that was worn once came apart at the seam - clearly a manufacturing fault. The garment was returned to the Woodlands Boulevard store where it was shown to the manager Gloria. In stead of simply replacing it she informed us that the garment needed to be sent to head office. No replacement and no refund. Visited the store for the second time today but still no joy. When I called Gloria later she slammed the phone down in my ear. Think twice before you spend your hard-earned cash at this luxury store and don't expect much sympathy or cooperation if you end up with a dud. Sad to see such arrogance.
Had a quick breakfast at Tashas - asked for a bacon and egg croissant but got a bacon and avo croissant. No big deal - I like avo. Then the bill - the croissant was R22. 00 and the three small strips of bacon and less than half an avo R88. 00. Having been in the restaurant trade I know how to cost food but this markup is rude to say the least. And so we learn.
About seven months back I had a cappuccino at Mugg and Bean Woodlands which cost R34.00, paid with R40.00 and never got my change. The waiter decided to tip herself. Needless to say, I do not like it when my money is stolen. Today I went to the same Mugg and Bean, had an orange juice for R34.00, paid with R50.00 and surprise surprise - no change! I waited about ten minutes but no sign of the waiter and eventually left R16.00 poorer. It does seem to be a bit of a culture at Mugg and Bean Woodlands. The easiest way to resolve this is to avoid this outlet at all cost. So be careful if ever you visit Mugg and Bean Woodlands - check your change!
I enjoy having a coffee at Lynnwood Bridge - the outdoor seating at restaurants and coffee shops is reminiscent of many places in Europe. During Covid my favourite restaurant at Lynnwood Bridge automatically added a 10% tip to the bill and that doesn't work for me. I tip generously for good service and nothing for poor service. So I was delighted to see that Tashas were opening. My first visit, within days of them opening, was majorly disappointing with far too many waiters crowding the place. But understandable. This morning I ordered a croissant and a hot chocolate and paged through my newspaper. The waiter asked whether I wanted my croissant plain or toasted and I requested plain My hot chocolate arrives as did the condiments for the croissant but no croissant. After finishing my drink and the morning paper the waiter asked me whether I wanted the croissant warmed up. I had run out of time and settled for a cold croissant. Not a great start Tashas and hope you up your service levels quickly. I will go elsewhere for time being.
I recently discover Mozambik Restaurant in Hillcrest, Durban and had an excellent meal (a positive review on Hellopeter.com). Last night we went to Mozambik Blouberg with a family member from the UK. Most people in our party had a good meal. I ordered a hot baby chicken and asked the waitress to make sure it is not overcooked - in fact I asked for my chicken to be juicy. Completely overcooked, dry and tasteless. I worked my way through about half my meal. Very disappointing and regret dropping R1,000.00 there for our meals. But not again.
Popped into the Mugg and Bean Woodlands Boulevard, Pretoria East for a cappuccino at 10:00. Before I had finished my drink the waiter asked whether I was ordering anything else as she wanted to go home and bring me my bill. I received a bill for R34. 00, paid R40. 00 and never received any change. Not nice when your money is basically stolen. Have been supporting this Mugg and Bean for 12 years but not again.
