I have been a Vodacom customer for the past 30 years and tried to do an upgrade online which I am now eligible for. Upon choosing which package I wanted to upgrade to, the system told me I do not qualify for this package. As this is the least expensive package offered (R199 per month) and my credit score is exemplary I was confused as to why. I then phoned the upgrades department and was told the package in question is not available to current customers, only to new customers. I asked them why a loyal customer for the past 30 years would be disadvantaged as opposed to someone who has no affinity with Vodacom. I was then told to hold on and this carried on forever after which I chose to rather hang up. No call back, no interest in me as a customer. Does a company have the right to control your spending habits and limit you to only expensive packages? I ask this as I was also told during the above call that that particular package would be available to me at R309 per month. Of course the answer to this question should be a resounding no. Vodacom however feels otherwise and this needs to be addressed or they will simply lose me as a customer after all this time...
I ordered liquor for a function and spent more than R7000 with Makro Online. The delivery date indicated was 3 days before the function, so based on previous favourable experiences I went ahead with the order. The liquor was late by 3 days and therefore I had to repurchase liquor elsewhere just before the function. I spoke to Makro Customer Care several times and they indicated that the late order would be sent back and I would be credited for the amount. Nothing has happened since and I am still out of pocket as a result.
The worst service I have ever received from a car dealership is from Toyota Herm****. I paid close to R500 000 for a brand new Corolla Cross Hybrid, broke down 3 times with "Hybrid Malfunction". The last time I broke down, the car wasn't going any further under its own power and had to be towed. Twice the dealer found no fault, I was told to collect the vehicle and monitor. The third time when they involved Toyota SA, suddenly a fix was proposed, namely the fuel pump. A known issue with Corolla Cross Hybrids then? Never was I offered alternative transport, nor contacted by the dealer principal or manager after leaving messages. The part took more than a month to arrive, so much for local production and parts availability... Are that many other customers also waiting for fuel pumps? A company with the reputation of reliability and looking after their customers is now barely a shadow of its former self. Only after I informed the dealer of my plans to share my experience on this and other platforms, did I receive an email from the sales manager for the very first time since my trouble started 3 months ago. His tone was neither apologetic nor friendly. Apparently he felt threatened and said I would be prosecuted, should anything I plan to share be demeaning to them. Well, Mr de Kock, you clearly haven’t heard of the Consumer Protection Act of South Africa. Neither do you have any clue as to what can or cannot be prosecuted. The dealer principal until this very day has remained silent and uninterested in me as a client... My best advice to Herm**** and surrounding areas is to buy from another dealer, as my experience has been shocking to say the least.
I buy from Amazon.com often and because I live in South Africa I always buy items with free international returns exclusively to avoid any problems down the line. Now after two recent experiences I am forced to share my less than favourable impression of Amazon.com not honouring their promise. Even though the item listing on Amazon.com states "Free International Returns" I am now expected for the second time to pay for shipping costs and claim a refund later when returning a product. The refund maximum is far less than my actual cost to ship the item back so this means I am stuck with something unwanted and out of pocket. Why do they not honour the wording in your listing? The support staff are extremely ******** and being from another non english speaking country their communication skills leave a lot to be desired. The more I try to explain what I believe I am entitled to, the more they respond with exactly the same story, that there is no other option for me but to pay for shipping. Just like their namesake it seams this Amazon is also being destroyed by incompetence, ignorance and a lack of integrity when it comes to doing the right thing.
If only I could award zero stars... No response after sending through a finance application as well as all requested supporting documents. I bank with FNB (the very institution behind TFS) and have an excellent credit score. Thanks to this I am once again going with Absa Vehicle Finance. You snooze, you lose...
I purchased a laptop sleeve from onedayonly.co.za and selected Pargo pickup point as delivery method. On Thursday 14 April, I received a notification that my parcel was ready for collection. I went to pick up my parcel on Friday 15 April but was told that there was nothing for me. I contacted OneDayOnly by email and got a prompt reply to say that they would follow up with their courier and get back to me. For the week following this I have had calls from Pargo and Clicks (my selected pickup point) and had to explain my story over and over to them. OneDayOnly only made promises throughout the week and never got back with any concrete information on my package. More than a week has now passed and I am without my purchased product and R334 out of pocket without any answers. From experience posting something on this platform has had a positive effect on merchants springing into life, so here's hoping....
In their latest "Liquor Gifting" catalogue Makro states on page 36: "buy any 5 of the same brand and get 1 free" which applies to certain white wines below this statement. I live far from the nearest Makro, but have purchased from them online many times before. When I noticed this special offer is not applied when adding wine to my online cart, I enquired with Makro Customer Care. They replied that this promotion only applies to in-store purchases, which I found surprising as it was not stated anywhere in said catalogue. When I pointed this fact out to them, the only excuse they could offer was "sorry for any inconvenience".
