A number of years ago I took out a "scratch and dent" policy with The Unlimited offering to make minor repairs to car bodywork and upholstery to the value of R3000 every 3 months. Since then the membership fee increased but supposedly also the value of repair to R4000. I haven't claimed in more than a year but when I did claim for damage to my car's drivers' seat it was declined due to the tear supposedly being too long (i.e. not cost of repair but something else which is in the T&Cs. They then asked whether I wanted to claim for anything else and the car's bumper was recently damaged (scuff marks due to loading a gas bottle) so I got the quote from the panelbeating shop they gave me to go to. They then said that the claim was allocated to an assessor and I would be notified within 36 to 48 working hours. It has now been almost two weeks since that e-mail and I have e-mailed them twice asking for an update without any response forthcoming. Looking at the Hellopeter graph it is quite evident that they are having trouble so if I were you I would stay away from them - I have sent them an e-mail to cancel my membership but I have a sneaky suspicion that they will still try to push it through so I will definitely cancel it with the bank as well.
I am really very wary of doing business over the internet so when we booked with this company for a family holiday to Mauritius and transferred quit a substantial amount of money I just prayed that it would all work out. Everything went swimmingly (pun intended ;-) with the travel agent Dani Gounder keeping us up to date every step of the way. So if you want to book a trip to Mauritius do get in touch with Dani as she really managed to make our holiday a great success!
I have been using Shyft for more than five years when travelling abroad using the physical card as well as making and receiving payments in foreign currencies. To date my experience of the customer service has been great and there were two cases where mistakes were made (from my side) transferring money into the account (wrong reference number and wrong currency account) and every time we managed to get it sorted out. I like the functionality of the app and also that I only have to transfer as much funds to the card as I intend to spend and that I can transfer funds from the main account to the card account whenever necessary (i.e. the potential for card ***** is limited to the money that has been loaded onto the card.) I have also found the rates charged to be competitive and the transaction costs relatively low compared to other foreign currency services, so for me Shyft is a great option.
I have been with Xneelo for a number of years as they offer very competitive packages for web hosting and domain parking. On top of this their service is incredible - they fixed something I broke yesterday and I received confirmation that all was good again at 11pm last night. What a fantastic company that I can truly recommend!
On Saturday 21 November I bought a Bosch fuel pump for R1 845 for my Volkswagen Kombi, hoping to replace it the same day as my brother was coming over to help. On taking out the non-working pump we found that it wasn't the pump but the connector that was broken. I returned the pump to Goldwagen on Monday 23 November only to be told that I would be liable for a 20% handling fee (R369) for a product that had not been installed. After negotation the fee was reduced to 10% (R185) which I still feel is excessive as the pump was returned in its original state.
