Engel & Volkers

False pretence
We're selling our property privately, and we received a call from Engel & Volkers in Potchefstroom requesting to show it to two serious out-of-town buyers. Although we don't want to use estate agents because they tend to lie, we believed the agent. On arrival, neither of the two "Buyers" was present, and it was clear that the agent and owner of the Potchefstroom branch were misleading us into viewing the property just to see it themselves. This is highly unprofessional and shows poor character by blatantly lying like this. Can Engel & Volkers' head office please send these guys on an ethical course, as they really put your name in a very bad light?

Nedbank

Stay away from Nedbank
On Sunday, 29 June, R 1,000 was ****** from my account. I blocked all my accounts and profiles. On Monday, 30 June, I visited the bank and had all security measures taken so that it would not happen again. It cost me over R1,000 for new cards and took me three hours. On Friday, 4 July, I received a phone call from Nedbank stating that another attempt had been made to ***** R20,500, but it was stopped (She was lying off course). None of these payments was sent for approval to my cell phone. I discovered that these funds were indeed ****** from a person who opened a Nedbank account online the previous day. Once again, my profiles had to be blocked. Nedbank takes no accountability for my loss and offered to pay me back R8,000. I would urge all people to note that Nedbank do not guarantee the safety of your money and takes no responsibility if it is ******. I wasn't phoned or ****med by a person. The money was transferred as if it were a Nedbank employee himself!

Nedbank Home Insurance looking for excuses not to honor claims
This is a 0- star rating. After a severe rain and wind storm in January 2021, 3 of our bedroom ceilings and 1 outside building ceiling started collapsing. We registered a claim with Nedbank Home Insurance. The first assessor came and did everything he was suppose to do and stated that he can't see any reason for the claim to be rejected. After 3 weeks Nedbank send him back and demanding more photo's and more reports. At this time I could pick up Nedbank is looking for excuses not to commit to the claim. Another month passed with no correspondence from Nedbank. I engaged with the complains department and got some traction again. They send a new assessor (3 rd. time now) and he was on a mission, he was send to find a way not to honor this claim. He eventually said that our ceiling brandering spacing is not to specifications. It must be 40 cm apart and ours are 75 cm apart as the specification was at the time our house was build. We purchased this house 9 years ago and Nedbank has gladly taken our fees monthly. I've asked them to investigate our house so that we are aware of any future excuses they may have so that it can be eliminated but this was declined. Our house was build to the specification when the house was build. If specifications are updated yearly, should we start retrofitting our houses to the current approved regulations? No specification is the same as it was 35 years ago. To date I haven't received any formal feedback from these useless employees at the Nedbank Home Insurance office. Not in 4 months! The bit of communication came from the complaints department. Even the letter stating why this claim was not approved has never reached me.

Medway - Useless Medical Insurance
Unfortunately I should not even give this company 1 star. I've been paying Medway, which is a Medical gap cover insurance for the past 10 years with no claim. We had to pay a fee to get my daughter hospitalized (R 2,117.80) and in 4 months they still can't pay the lousy amount! Stay away from them or if you're paying them now, cancel ASAP as they are useless!

Poor Supervision

Thermguard insulated my home during 2016 in Potchefstroom.

The method of installing the product is by means of opening the roof(Lifting tiles) and doing it from above. My concern that I've raised with the operators and supervisor was:

1. Will the tiles be installed correctly again?;

2. Will they ensure that the plastic that they cut (between the tiles & ceiling) will be joined again and seal properly?

The operators and supervisor assured me that they will leave it in good state.

A couple of months later I noticed a wet spot on the inside of my ceiling. This went from a spot to my ceiling eventually colapsing. I had to take corrective action because 60 M2 of my ceiling almost came down with this expensive prioduct in it. When I investigated the problem I've noticed that the plastic insulation where the operators cut it for entrance to the roof were never taped together to seal it again as what the commitment was. This means that when heavy rain fall's the rain that do enter between the tiles go straith to the ceeiling with no secondary protection.

I must admit that the Thermguard was installed very well but it is no good doing a job perfect but you stuff-up another place that was perfect as well.

This has now become my problem as the owner Klerksdorp / Potchefstroom said that this didn't happen because of their work. I have picture that wil show this plastic to still be in pieces after it was cut by the Thermguard personal.

Jenny Internet poor internet speed (not as promised)

I've signed-up with Jenny Internet during September 2015.

The first 3 months the internet speed was as per contractual agreement (P02 Uncapped Wireless 1Mbps-3Mbps).

During December I've noticed that the speed is not close to what they promised. My understanding is that they have out grown their capacity in Potchefstroom but remain selling more service agreement putting even more strain on a system that can't deliver!! After numerous attempts to get the speed that I'm paying for nothing has happened yet that can make me excited. It is an embarrassment as I'm using this for my business and also give access to quest at our quest house. On average I get a measured 0.4 – 0.6Mbps. It takes forever to download mails and making a conference call is completely out of the question.

I think Jenny Internet must first get their current clients happy before over-selling themselves to new customers. They can't deliver what they promise!!!

Double bookings - not committing to arrangements
During December 2014 we stayed at Orange River Lodge. We requested a second room for family that was on their way from CPT to JHB. Lynn said that one unit was still available. An hour after my family arrived, the owner Lynn said the unit is not available anymore. The original people that booked the place showed-up!!

12 Dec 2015 we once again phoned Lynn for a unit. She confirmed the booking. 30 Minute before stopping at Orange River Lodge she phoned and said the unit is no longer available. There was a double booking.

We made another booking with Lynn on our way back - 26 Dec 2016. (how stupid are we to still trust this person!!). You've guessed it, 1 hour before arrival she once again phoned and said their was a double booking. This left us traveling unplanned trough the night, putting our life at risk due to her poor / greedy planning abilities. As a CA, she is in in just for the money and not the client service.

She need to understand that people plan their traveling according to their halfway stop commitments. If she goes against her commitment / arrangement she will eventually cause somebodies death due to unplanned longer distances that must now be driven due to her!
