Since I can remember I have received a birthday voucher from Makro once a year via sms and this gives the impression of being appreciated as a loyal customer. This year I have not received and enquired via the National Number that advised me that this is still in place and might want to follow-up with my local branch (Cape Gate in Cape Town). When phoning Cape Gate branch the response I received that this is a "random" selection and not a given to receive a voucher every year. Now either I have been extremely lucky in the past to receive it every year or there has been a policy change. I would certainly reconsider the Makro loyalty card since this is then only used for tracking spending habits with no real benefit for the customer at all. I think Makro needs to be transparent when changing policy (if it is the case) or make sure customer service relay correct answers to customers.

3rd times a charm... front end staff need quite a facelift. No really friendly and also not accomodate. Latest experience (2 previous ones but I'll spare the details) when standing in the que waiting for my order of 2 cones, zinger wings and virgin mojito. One customers enquired why lettuce was added when specifically asked and accepted that it would be omitted. Another had a wrong order in her take-away bag. On both there was the same reply - "you must check your order when you leave the counter". On my enquiry about the peppermint leaves omitted in my virgin mojito the response, "you can see there is one leave in there". The responses leave you stunned and absolutely dumb struck, you just need to get out of there before you say something you would regret later.

I recently bought a treadmill from Sportman's warehouse (NordicTrack C100) - good entry/mid level treadmill. After reading the manual I realised that the treadmill could be used with a heart rate monitor transmitter. However, neither the manual or the manufacturer website specify the brand/make/model of the transmitter. I called both Century City and Parklands Sportman's branches which both confirmed the treadmill is not compatible with a heart rate monitor. I then went to Tygervalley branch hoping for a demonstration that would convince me that the treadmill is compatible. However, both the treadmill salesmen confirmed what the other branches said that the NordicTrack C100 is not compatible. I then asked a friend to loan me his heart rate monitor transmitter (chest strap) and lo and behold, the treadmill picked up my heart rate on the treadmill display. I honestly think all the treadmill salesmen just didn't know but would rather not say that and instead gave the customer the wrong information just to get rid of an inquiring customer. My mistake was too assume the salesmen knew more about the product he is selling than I could on my own.
