I booked in this afternoon. What a joke... loadshedding kicks in.... no back up generator... really Regal Inn... in this day and age... at R1300 a night I expected a lot more. Had they placed that openly I would have not booked here.. The rooms are so hot when there is no power and the windows open so little. Highly disappointed. Not what you would expect from a hotel in Umhlanga in 2024. Thos is not value for money at all. If this is how my stay is going to be I want an immediate refund so I can go book elsewhere.

On 04 April 2023 I phoned the hotel due to the fact that on Bookings.com it showed that no rooms were available for my booking date of 29 April 2023 check in & check out on 01 May 2023. I was advised that I needed to send an email with all the relevant details pertaining to my booking & was provided with an email address. I later sent the email with all the relevant information. The following day when I checked my emails I noticed the hotel had sent me an invoice from their email address. I called the hotel to speak to the person who sent me the invoice & she confirmed the name of the account as it was different to the hotel name. She confirmed that everything was correct. Payment was made & proof of payment emailed back to the hotel. On Friday 28 April 2023 I received a phone call from the hotel asking me if I am still staying at the hotel & what time will I be arriving. At this point it came to light that the hotel did not receive my payment. Lots of calls & emails were sent back & forth between the hotel & myself only to find out that the bank account number was changed. A ***** case was opened with the relevant banks. I had to pay again for my reservation with the Regal Inn in Umhlanga. As a business surely there should be some sort of insurance against cyber ***** which I what I believe happened. The Regal Inn emails was intercepted & that is how I received an invoice with all the correct information regarding my booking but with a different bank account number inserted. To date I have received no compensation from the Regal Inn in Umhlanga. I have been advised that it is now a police matter. I am extremely unhappy because I received this email from the Regal Inn so how was I to know that someone changed just the bank account number?

If there are companies that deal with these guys please don't they want my suppliers invoices to negotiate my price .but if we book in there we need to ask for their suppliers invoices and ask for better price. Now I'm getting the run around to be paid .before you stay you pay upfront but I'm waiting for my money and just a story.

I was quite happy with the service and state of the room. However the room consisted of wall to wall double bed, I was more than satisfied with what I got. They even gave me a discount as my dad was in Hospital across the road and I wanted to stay close-by. For the amount I paid and for what I got, I was happy.

Terrible , there’s a fat black woman there that was extremely rude and ruined the whole experience that I had with city lodge for a whole week it was okay but when that uruly witch started working on the 6th of November that’s when the problem started basically the place it’s good the people ruin the whole experience by being unruly and rude

What an unpleasant experience I had at this hotel. I’m told check inn time is at 3pm, I had no issues with that. I arrive at 15:15, not feeling well and my expectations were dashed as soon as I stepped into the facility. Greeted by a hostile receptionist, I grin and bare it thinking I’d check in and get some rest. She rudely instructs me to have a seat as housekeeping was still waiting for linen to ge delivered or something to that effect. Again I take the punch because I figured it wasn’t worth the verbal exchange, after all I wasn’t feeling well and I had stated that to her upon my arrival. Needless to say I checked in at 15:45, no apology whatsoever. She rambled some instructions on how to use my access card, I had to ask her to slow down and repeat what she was saying, at this point I’m feeling dizzy. I check into my room, the bathroom sink is filthy, well I don’t report the matter, I was too drained. In the morning I call The Market Place, no response. I eventually call reception and the same rude lady answers my call, she tells me her name and I actually hear a different name, then I quote the name Thandi, she harshly corrects me with a tone pregnant with a bad attitude, I choose not to mention her name on this review, but it’ll be obvious to her employers. All the same I eventually get through to the mini market, still feeling weak I attempt placing an order, I needed a sugar boost as I was still feeling lightheaded, the lady says they deliver once your order is R50, this was not communicated at reception upon my arrival and it’s not written anywhere. Oh well I go downstairs get what I needed then dragged myself back to my room. I get ready to check up, when I get to reception to drop off my key the same lady looks at me and greets me by exclaiming “ya”, then carries on engaging me in Isizulu and her colleague who is an Indian lady just looks at me etc. I check out and think to myself black on black service is terrible or perhaps that’s just how the Regal Inn does business. I was tremendously disappointed and I would never recommend this hotel to any of my loved ones.
