We understand fully all children are not the same and we have to respect the other parents who pay for their children to learn so when a child is distracting the rest of the class they have a time out in class during that lesson to give the other children a fair chance to learn. We usually ask parents to assist if there is behaviour issues but we understand some parents don't like to hear their child is "naughty" or distracting the others while they learning. Smiley Kids raises the benchmark with the good curriculum and in turn we train them to behave during the lessons to the best to their abilities age group related but we do get the odd child that doesn't conform to any of the rules and regulations and unfortunately if parents don't assist this behaviour roles over to primary school where the teachers there will also end up calling you in. Sadly we actually had his best interest at heart and raised a concern to mom that maybe she could try let him colour in or build a puzzle or practise some shapes as he was struggling on these levels and as you guys mentioned he loved technology and how mad he would get if his phone was not charged. So I asked mom to let him earn his screen time but she did not like that as she knew he will fight with her if he didn't have his phone. Numerous times you asked teacher to just give him his way to keep him happy and Teacher informed you we cannot do that, imagine if 20 little ones refused to do anything till they get their way what an unruley class it would be. Unfortunately I think parenting styles also play a role with his mental health.. I urged my daughter, his mother, to speak with the principal about transferring him to another class because it’s clear that his current teacher is overly harsh with the little ones. My grandson has a strong dislike for being shouted at, and if he is yelled at every day, it certainly isn’t good for him. To me, that constitutes child abuse. After my daughter requested that he be moved to another class, I was shocked by the harsh response she received. I then suggested to my daughter and her husband that they should find another creche for my grandson. If you care about your child's mental health, that teacher—who happens to be the principal's daughter—is not the right person to care for and teach your child. It is important to listen to your toddlers when they express their concerns and to pay attention to their non-verbal behavior as well!

Smiley Kids Klerksdorp, North West.Monica Street
I regret ever taking my child to Smiley Kid's in Klerksdorp, specifically the one on Monica Street. It has been the worst experience ever. In May 2024, I faced some financial difficulties and informed the principal that I needed to withdraw my child from the school for a while until we were in a better financial position. She refused, stating, "No, it's okay; we will just freeze your account." I then asked her to change my child's enrollment to half day not full day, and she eventually agreed. However, when the billing statement arrived months later, it showed a significantly high amount. When I inquired about this, she told me she would ask the accountant to make adjustments, but those changes were never made. Instead, she referred me to the accountant, even though I had been making all arrangements and agreements with her. When I attempted to contact the accountant, my calls went unanswered, and she never bothered to get back to me. My child was being picked up early after the winter holidays, and later, the principal informed me that the accountant had made changes late without ever informing us, yet they still expected payment. In December, my daughter did not attend school, but they continued to expect payment despite their poor service. Now, they are taking us to their lawyers, but they have never been willing to communicate with us from the beginning.

Their slogan is “raising a pre school benchmark “ but I doubt smiley kids in Kimberley is in line with this slogan because my child and myself as a parent who paid full tuition never got the right treatment even after reporting to the school owner she just saw an attention seeker.there is no integrity, respect for the kids yet there are cameras but when you request to view them they deny I have sent a letter of withdrawal after I had reported my issues to the owner and she just ignored me I will never recommend this benchmark because it’s not true reflection of what they have painted on the walls with that big smiley kids yet kids are not happy they are being treated like dirt

Children and teachers at risk
I had the worst possible experience with this place the daycare referred to is located in 426 Anton can wouw street, waterkloof Glen, Pretoria 0010 The owner Maryna stern is such a rude owner, she has no respect for the teachers at the school, she swears the teachers and tells them they are useless and the same with the office manager. She asks her teachers to come in weekends for meetings and does not pay them over time for this, she throws things around in the classrooms at teachers. They say every term the kids much bring 4 hand soaps, 24 toilet rolls and maybe other things like paper and she claims it is for the kids, meanwhile they use the things in the bathroom for the staff members. They have a teacher by the name of Lewis who was fired for hitting a child and 3 weeks later Maryna called her to come back to the school. The teachers pull the kids around and screams at them when they make a mistake or have an accident, there is ONE bathroom for the entire daycare and boys and girls in the 15months - 2 years class go to potty together, the rest of the kids use that one bathroom. The kids barely have enough space to learn and sleep, in the bigger classes. The baby class has a very dirty carpet that smells horrible and if you look closely you see how dirty it is and it makes the kids very sick. Every second day the kids eat the same food. She pays her staff between 4000 and 5500 and if the teachers have to go to the Dr or take off she deducts between 500-1500 for them not being there. She gives teachers warnings for things they were not present for, but because they the head teachers they get the warnings. The office manager Tiana fights with the teachers to carry her child around and give her child all their attention while the rest of the children has to be neglected. The staff members mainly Tiana son can be at school if he is sick but other parents children gets denied eduction when they are sick. The receptionists there are two gets paid at least 2k more than the teachers and Maryna banks big bucks for herself while not paying her teachers enough to survive. When you ask her to see video footage at the school regarding an incident she refuses to sit with you and allow you to view it as she feels she doesn’t owe parents that and claims she will watch the footage and we just have to trust what she says and half the time does not even view the footage. The standard of the school and the education is extremely bad and I would not recommend using this school

Unsafe creche
My 4 year old niece came home with a swollen eye eye yesterday, the teachers at her creche said it’s possibly allergies cause she woke up like that. But for about a week she’s been complaining about her creche and refusing to go. This was very unlike her cause she loves school and loved her previous creche. We thought she just needed to adjust so we didn’t pay much attention to it. But yesterday when she got home, she was not happy, not her bubbly self and wanted a lot of comfort. After cuddling with her mom for sometime, she said her teacher hit her, this is how the recorded conversation went. Niece: “teacher beat me with a big box and I cried.” Mom: “she beat you where with the big box” Niece: continues to point at her eye. Mom: “Why did she beat you?” Niece: “Because she was angry” Mom: “Why was she angry” Niece: “Because I was making noise” We immediately when back to the school to ask for footage of the days interaction, but the admin lady was reluctant.
