Very bad customer service

I must first commend the SweepStars; they’re wonderful and not the problem at all. However, the Sweepsouth call centre and customer service are appalling. Today, we decided to book a SweepStar every second Wednesday going forward. Sweepsouth promptly billed and debited my bank account for the next two payments upfront! When I noticed the deduction and didn’t understand why, I called their office. I raised a valid question about the deductions. At the time, I didn’t realise they were for the next two payments, up to four weeks ahead of the intended service. They seemed oblivious to their conduct even though this is likely a common practice at Sweepsouth. A customer should not be funding a business’s cashflow through deep advance payments. Notwithstanding, it was actually their request for a copy of my bank statement before investigating the deductions that was deeply disturbing to me. I reminded them of my consumer rights under the POPI Act and refused to provide it. They refused to investigate further without it. Bank statements contain highly sensitive personal information. Considering Sweepsouth’s internal system already has the bookings on record and holds my payment records, I reminded them and I do so to other consumers as well that a service provider generally can’t legally require you to provide a bank statement just to help with a routine query! They put the phone down on me. Sweepsouth does not deserve the privilege of serving the needs of the wonderful SweepStars. It is these people who, under conditions of crippling unemployment in South Africa, suffer when such obviously poor service is provided in their name. The bookings we made have been cancelled, and we will not do this again and suggest you do not either. Just book the SweepStar a day or two before you need their service.

Very poor cleaning quality

Very poor cleaning quality received. I reported it to them the same day requesting a refund and they have not bothered to call me back. Typical quick to take your money but then when the service you pay for isn’t received then they don’t want to hear about it.

Damage Caused During Outdoor Service – No Assistance from SweepSouth

I have used SweepSouth’s indoor cleaning services many times in the past, and one of the reasons I felt comfortable booking through them was because they advertise insurance cover for damage to property caused during a booking. Because of this, I trusted the platform and assumed the same level of protection would apply across their services. Today I used SweepSouth’s outdoor services for the first time and booked a gardener. During the job, the gardener unfortunately shattered my glass sliding door while mowing the lawn. When I contacted SweepSouth to report the damage, I was surprised to learn that they refused to assist with the cost, stating that their insurance cover only applies to indoor cleaning services and not outdoor or other services. This limitation was not disclosed or clearly communicated during the booking process, which is extremely misleading. As a customer who has used their platform multiple times, I reasonably expected the same protections to apply across their services. Accidents happen and I understand that, but the lack of transparency and refusal to assist after damage occurred is very disappointing. If SweepSouth offers different levels of protection depending on the service, this should be clearly communicated upfront so customers can make an informed decision before booking. Based on this experience, I would caution others to carefully check what is actually covered before using SweepSouth’s services, as the protections many customers assume are in place may not apply.

I have used regular indoor cleaning with them for a whilst, and recently used mom’s helper which was phenomenal, Angela the lady that came was just superb

We will be using their out door cleaning this week. I am so happy with the people that have come to our home from sweep South, granted there have been one or two that I would not want back, but that’s why I enjoy the service set up, you don’t have to keep someone you aren’t happy with. Definitely easy to use and a weight off one’s shoulders of employing a person permanent
