The owner is exceptionally rude. She hangs the phone up in peoples ears after being confronted as to why I am receiving messages at 00:30 on a Monday evening. The excuse I got was well some of us run our own business'. Some advise from others that do the same thing, respect business hours or family time or consider you may just have woken a sleeping child because you have no telephone etiquette..

this past weekend I had my engagement party at The Venue on Leslie. From the start I had issues with the management of the event and just overall bad communication. my problems were as follow: 1. random strangers from the street walked into the event and the staff did not do much to remove these "random" people from our private event. They basically left it in our hands to sort out. 2. I hired the venue till 8pm, at 7pm I asked the staff I want to extend on my time - which they said is fine, but nevertheless, they asked my guest to leave at 7:30pm already. 3. at 8pm, the staff came and addressed me about money and payment in front of my remaining guest - which was very unprofessional. when I did address the matter, the staff was not scared to "backchat" me. 4. We called upon the owner - but she was just as rude and unprofessional as her staff. 5. The staff started closing all doors at 8pm while we were still busy getting our stuff - resulting in 2 guest walking into the sliding doors as they were not marked clearly. My one guest had a very bad nosebleed after walking into the sliding door, and the staff, as well as the owner refused to open the door or bathroom for him to go and clean himself - they didn't even offer a first aid kit. I would not ever use this venue again, and I will not recommend it to someone. they are very unprofessional

I recently hosted my baby shower at The Venue on Leslie, where I encountered unprofessional service from the manager. When I raised concerns with the venue owner, who is also the CEO of the Restaurant Association of South Africa, she responded in a highly unprofessional and disrespectful manner. She threatened legal action, claiming that reviews posted by guests were damaging to her business and demanded their removal. I informed her that I cannot be held responsible for others’ opinions and that I am fully aware of my legal rights. When I explained that I am pregnant and cannot handle unnecessary stress, her response was dismissive and offensive, stating, “I do not care if you are pregnant or crippled.” Given South Africa’s history of inequality, such comments are harmful to societal progress and individual dignity. Additionally, the owner has refused to return my deposit, which aligns with the experiences of others. She has made false claims on public platforms, accusing me of breaching terms and demanding compensation, despite having proof to the contrary. She also claims we have an outstanding balance, even though the venue was fully paid before the event, and no invoices were issued afterward. Negative reviews from guests have been removed from Google, further hiding these ********* practices. This venue and its owner must be held accountable.

I would highly reccomend not engaging with this venue as managment and the owner are extremely rude , they do not pay pack your deposit and make further claims against you together with threatening legal action with nonsencical reasoning.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OWNER ATTEMPTS TO HAVE ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS REMOVED AND IF THE REVIEWS ARE NOT REMOVED, SHE HARRASSES YOU AND REPORTS ALL NEGATIVE REVIEWS SO POTENTIAL CLIENTS DO NOT KNOW THE REALITIES OF THEIR SERVICE (THE OWNER HAS LITERALLY BEEN CALLING US AT 10PM). FURTHERMORE **** REVIEWS ARE BEING POSTED BY HOW GREAT THE VENUE IS BY THE OWNERS AFFILIATES. We recently hosted an event at the Venue on Leslie, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. While the space itself is quite nice, the management completely ruined the experience and we encountered significant issues that dampened the experience. To start, we arrived to find that the venue had just put topsoil on the grass – that had just been watered. It was not only unpleasant but also unprofessional to have such a situation at a venue hosting private functions. Additionally random people wandered into our private event without any management oversight. We were also disappointed with the lack of clarity regarding their policies. Unfortunately, when the caters arrived we were informed that they could not utilise the plug points/electricity at the venue to fry the food, we found ourselves in a bind as our catering setup was delayed because we had to scramble to find a gas stove on a Sunday. This was incredibly frustrating and put a damper on the flow of the event. This delayed the event by about 2 hours. It would have been helpful if the venue had suggested alternatives or offered any assistance in securing equipment, especially considering the last-minute nature of our situation. To make matters worse - the manager was unprofessional and rude, at around 17h00, the manager and her staff started cleaning up and were basically kicking everyone out (with zero consideration for the delay caused by the venue’s lack of communication), which left many of us shocked and embarrassed. The way this was handled was downright hostile. It felt like we were being treated like a nuisance rather than valued guests. Communication was poor, and there was no effort made to address our concerns and make the situation better. Additionally, the manager abruptly instructed the bartender to stop serving drinks before the event had even concluded. The manager's interaction with the catering team was equally frustrating. They were told to leave prematurely, despite the fact that we had not yet wrapped up the event. This lack of consideration for both guests and vendors was incredibly unprofessional. The manager prioritized closing down over ensuring a positive experience for everyone. Oh and there was only one bathroom available for all the guests, and it was dirty and poorly maintained. This was incredibly inconvenient for a gathering of our size. If you're considering the Venue on Leslie for an event, I strongly advise against it for any event where a good experience is a priority. No one wants to deal with a manager who has such a lack of respect for their guests. It's clear that the management needs to focus more on customer service and less on rigid policies. Save yourself the stress and look for a venue that values its clients!

. I booked the Venue in October and paid the deposit. Visiting the site 3 times, the last a week before the planned date. On Tuesday 4, days before Saturday, I received the below message from Tayla expressing her excitement about my party. Then, on Wednesday, I received a message from Tayla saying the venue was double booked. And because the other group had booked in March, Wendy Alberts made the call that I had to find another place. And from that moment, the lies and deceit just kept on coming. Tayla blamed Wendy, and Wendy blamed Tayla, but none of them had spared any thought as to what I was going through!. On Wednesday evening at 5pm, I received the below message guaranteeing that I would have the party I deserve. Ha!!! They took the silent road and hoped I would go away. Only when we threatened them with Social media did Wendy scramble with unsuitable solutions. I still need to learn the truth because, between these 2 ladies, their stories differ. And I don't believe for one minute that someone who booked in March did not interact in any way with the Venue until 3 days before the event. One said it was a 30th celebration, and the other said it was the 18th. I think what actually happened was that they booked 2 parties for the day ... but the other party asked to extend their time and offered much more money, and voila, money is King! I should have trusted my instinct. I have always disliked being called honey or sweetheart and believe people who use those words to address strangers are *************; when I was called it the first time, I should have run a mile. Ultimately, my party turned out fantastic at another venue, and it made me realise only some businesses recommended are good, ethical businesses.. The owners of the Venue lack integrity,
