The Wood Bar Scam
I ordered a bed and compactum from Duane and he promised to deliver it 2 months back after requesting that we pay 70% deposit. Now he is no where to be found. His wife said they are processing payments to all customers since the company closed down but till this day we haven’t received our money back.

Wood Bar Alberton BIG SCAM!!!!
As per all the reviews regarding the Wood Bar and Duane Van Tonder my experience was exactly the same! Before confirming I checked Hello Peter, no reviews, his Facebook page had nothing but good reviews and excellent photos that seemed genuine. On making my first contact excellent, well knowledged and promises of good service etc. I made full payment for a barn door as per the invoice on 27 Aug 2021. Everything seemed legit, after confirming payment received there was no contact as he had a back log due to him and his family being in isolation for Covid (excuse 1). Contacted him on the 23 Sep no response, finally he made contact on the 27th Sept and said his dad had a stroke he had rushed to Ballito he is there for 2 weeks but everything was on schedule for installation 5 October (excuse 2). Up until today I and many other friends have been trying to contact his phone just rings and no response to phone calls and messages!!!!! Totally disgusting and very frustrated!!!! This is SCAM!!!!! He took mine and all the other reviewers money and ran away!!!!! P.S. I also heard the story from him about his dog biting his employee and he is seeking legal advise as the guy is defaming him and the business on all social media platforms.

Wood Bar Alberton BIG SCAM!!!!
As per all the reviews regarding the Wood Bar and Duane Van Tonder my experience was exactly the same! Before confirming I checked Hello Peter, no reviews, his Facebook page had nothing but good reviews and excellent photos that seemed genuine. Big Scam-The Wood Bar Alberton
Duane from the Wood Bar in Alberton accepted a deposit however a few days before delivery he messaged to let me know he will refund my deposit with no explanation as to why he is unable to manufacture and deliver the furniture. This is a big scam! Please don't fall into his trap. I ordered a custom bed on the 10th of August with delivery promised on 15 September. I paid a deposit. There was a sad story about why he couldn't deliver, all lies and pulling on my heartstrings. He then promised a refund. I have heard nothing since. My calls and messages go unanswered.

BUYER BEWARE ----- ZERO DELIVERY AND BROKEN PROMISES AND NOTHING
Duane took time to understand our requirements for a Barn Door and we had a lot of discussions about all the ins and outs. We checked Hello Peter and there we no complaints against them. Everything sounded hunky dory. We paid the deposit and Duane promised a specific delivery date. The delivery date came and went and NOTHING. He never replied to our initial WhatsApp and did not answer our calls. Eventually after having to threaten him with legal action, we returned out call. He had excuse after excuse after excuse. The worst part was that the excuses were contradictory to each other. He then told to talk to his Attorney and sent us copy of an Attorney letter addressed to another customer. We then visited Hello Peter and suddenly found all these complaints against him. Our stomach turned because it was obvious there was the same theme running through all the complaints. We contacted the Attorney, we seems valid and had a long discussion with her. We agreed to follow a conciliatory path and to let Duane come and install the door on the 17th as opposed to refunding our money. The Attorney sent us a Letter confirming that Duane had committed to keep his second promise and to install the door on the 17th. On the 17th we followed up with the Attorney because, of course, we had not heard a word from Duane. The Attorney replied that he would still install the door by 17H00. Guess what, NOTHING!!!!!!!! No door, no Duane, no NOTHING.

Operating under new business name - BE AWARE!!!!
To everyone that has been lied to by this company, i am putting evidence together and opening up a case at the small claims court, i will also be taking this to Carte Blanche and reposting him to SARS as it has now come to my attention that they are now trading under a different name. Please message me privately on Facebook (Kaly Cookson) as some people already have with your information. Lets try make sure that they do not scam more people under the new company name.

WARNING!! The Wood Bar - Duane Van Tonder
Do not order any thing from this company or from Duane Van Tonder. We ordered wooden glass doors and paid a 70‰ deposit on the 20th of July. We constantly kept following up with him, asking for pictures of which we never ever received because he was always so called "busy with orders" or the lawyers due to his dog biting his employee. 6 weeks later and having to deal with his countless lies and excuses, we demanded our money back and were lucky to get it transferred back on the 2nd of September. I honestly don't believe that he has a legitimate business because this is not the 1st complaint about him taking people's money and not fulfilling order's.

Enough is Enough - Worst experience ever
Wow I have never ever been more messed around than by Duane, promises, lies, more promises and even bigger lies. I have had enough, full payment done on the 4th of July, delivery promised 2-3 weeks. Lies about delivering, never showing, lies about not delivering because his dog bit an employee, lies about not delivering because he spent the weekend in jail. lies upon lies. Then on one of the many promised delivery day's 17 Aug i got a message stating that the company will not be taking new orders and will refund clients their money. They begged for a payment plan even getting his wife to message me. I tried to be understanding and agreed they could pay 75% of my money on 30 Aug (as this was the GF's) payday and the balance on 30 Sep, this has not happened and he has called to ask for what arrangement can be made... How does one sleep at night knowing that they are taking good hard earned money from people trying to support local.. I've reached out to a lawyer to see my options, not only for me but for everyone else that this man is making a mockery out of.
