Westgate Mall Firearms Towards Customers
On the 25/02/2026, myself, my brother & his 12 year old daughter had lunch at Pedros at Westgate Mall. After we had lunch, we decided to go back home and booked an Uber for us to get back home. While we were standing outside the entrance of the mall waiting for out Uber to pick us up, I was busy enjoying my can of soft drink that I have purchased at Shoprite inside the mall and out of the blue one of the security guards came from nowhere to grab my soft drink out of my hands while I was taking a sip and threw it on the ground. I asked him why he grabbed my drink out of my hands without even speaking to me and he rep**** by saying I am not allowed to drink alcohol on the premises of the mall. This means he assumed my soft drink was alcohol and decided to be disrespectful to grab it out of my hands without even speaking to me. I have expressed my dissatisfaction to him being disrespectful towards me while he had done an act of violence in front of the minor child. While myself and him could not come to an understanding after around 2 to 4 minutes, another security car pulled up and draw their massive firearms 2 men with big firearms surrounding me and making the minor child feel traumatized. I spoke to them in a very respectful manner and I felt there was no need for any firearms to me drawn out in public to a normal civilian like myself who had no weapons on me. I am living in Mitchells Plain for 36 years and I have shop at Westgate mall since it opened as a child and this is the very first time I have uncounted this poor management of Westgate mall. I believe security should be there to protect us as the customers and not make us feel threatened or intimated by weapons and have better communication skills that has more respect towards us as customers. I am in the process of seeking legal advise based on the security guards that drew 2 massive firearms out in the open public towards me and my family including a minor child.

Unsafe in and outside the mall
Centre Management is not interested in the safety of shoppers. Last month there were so many hijackings taking place ..... all they care about is feet coming into the mall but no proper security. We request they start putting up cctv cameras 2 towers and boom gates so we can feel safe..... they sitting inside their pretty offices.. . When you ask the securities what's going on they have no clue..... they are so non Chalont....they need to change their security guards and start implementing measures. When u look for mom and tots parking its parked in and the cars don't have tots or kids .they should put up metal plating making it clear it's only for disabled or moms and tots..... and enforce the wheel clamping...... it's pathetic..... the aircons in the mall it's so stuffy u smell sewerage odors mowt of the time ...they need to jack it up koz we shop daily......

NO FIRST AIDERS, NO CENTER MANAGEMENT ON SITE, NO FIRST AID KIT. A customer collapsed today and another customer who happened to be a nurse along with two other individuals had to take care of a customer. There was no first aiders in the entire mall which was extremely full today. This is highly unprofessional for a mall which was so busy and during a pandemic. All center management personnel were off duty and an emergency (possible covid case) occurred. I’m really disappointed in the lack of care for your customers and they’re well being. Is this just a money making business that you don’t care about your customers safety and health???? Utterly Disgusting WESTGATE MALL MITCHELLS PLAIN.

I Was Pickpocketed At Westgate Mall by a Trolley-Boy
Today, April 23, 2021 I was pick-pocketed by a trolley-boy! This traumatic incident happened at Westgate Mall, Mitchells Plain. And they do not want me to see the security footage. Either because they know the only logical explanation is that the trolley-boy took it, as there was no one else around OR they DO NOT have security cameras in fact! Buyer's Beware! So how it went down is, I requested an Uber after doing shopping and as soon as I got in the car, I noticed my phone was missing! But I just requested an Uber and my pockets have zips and apparently I was seen on camera putting my phone in my pocket, so the phone couldn't have gone far. The security won't let me see the video footage which leads me to believe they either DO NOT have video footage OR they KNOW it IS the trolley-boy as he was the only one in the vicinity at the time of the incident. I just cannot take the excuse they said that "a lady picked up the phone & drove off". If that was true, why not show me the footage? Their excuse is the polar opposite of truth that a trolley-boy took it. But if he did, who's liable? I would like the video footage as whoever employs that trolley-boy needs to get me a new phone. Please review the video evidence again as you will find your trolley-boy pick-pocketed me. Shame on me for tipping him also.....

Strengthen Security within Mall and parking lot.
Management needs to gear up we heading into festive season and there is alot of funny celebrities roaming in the mall. By all means if you need to employ more security do so. It will make shoppers feel more sucure. Ladies toilet had no handsoap or even hand sanitizer in the toilet to wash your hands. The roamera approach you even in the store whilst busy shopping for your own needs.

Need to contact owners of westgate mall
I stay behind westgate malls receiving bay in rondevlei park , and for years now the trucks delivering to the mall has been damaging my vibecrete wall and some other residents too. Nothing is being done about this and we have to keep fixing the wall out of our pockets.the mall management is not helpful at all with contact numbers of who to get hold of so the owners can put up some sort of barriers there. The council can't also do anything because its private property. Please we dont know what to do or who to contact..Help needed urgently....
