I am ashamed of the country I live in,i called looking for my cousin whom I did know which hospital he was in after being in an a car accident the guy by the name of Makhanya was so useless,Rude, unapologetic and no empathy towards my situation we should not be going through such nonsense ontop of our distress hospitals should hire people that put themselves in other people’s shoes I am ashamed of our government system The last thing people need while in distress is a sticking attitude MAKHANYA sucks and should not be speaking to people he should rather be cleaning toilets

I had the worst experience ever at Eddington Hospital this was my second time going there and I have never been treated like that before I was seen by Dr Ramikhalis (She did not have her name badge on she to me that she’s Dr Ramikhalis if that is how you spell it)She was brutally rude to me she literally chased me away from the hospital she told me she cannot help me because I’m from another township she told me that my sickness is not an emergency because I’ve managed to stay with the sickness for eight months obviously I’ll be able to manage to go away from that hospital and go see or be seen to another hospital which was Wentworth. She was shouting at me for no reason she told me this is a public hospital hospital therefore they cannot accommodate all of us she told me the hospital is full she told me that doctors won’t be able to see me she spoke about all of the other things I do not know and I’ve never heard of in this country and she asked me why I came to Eddington hospital I told her I work near Addington hospital and then she shouted at me and said to me everybody works in town therefore we all need to go to our nearest hospital around where we stay she started screaming at me and told me I must go away and she didn’t help me I am so so disappointed in her and the hospital in general…for someone who goes by the profession of helping people and helping people that are in need of medical attention and this is what I get from her…honestly I am so flabbergasted by her behaviour and attitude.

I recently gave birth at Addington Hospital and recieved horrifying treatment from their security personnel upon exit after being discharged with my little girl. So the doctors discharged both me and my daughter 3 days after giving birth. So I called my parents to come and fetch us from the hospital. So the security guard didn't allow them into the ward for some reason, she came and told me my parents were here and I got up, took my baby and asked who was going to help me carry the bags as I had quite some luggage. I couldn't carry it all with a fresh cesarean operation while carrying my child as well. She said she'd carry my bags for me and when we got to the exit of the ward where my parents were waiting for me, she then asked to search my bag. I laid it on the table, she opened it and took everything that was in it out and came across a pack of Cariwell pads that I'd just opened that very morning. The entire time I was hospitalized, I used the hospital's pads until they ran out the Night before I was discharged. Luckily, I had my own. So in the morning i opened mine after my bath and used 2. Now Addington had the very same brand which caused my dilemma. Now this woman accused me of *****ing these pads of which I very calmly explained I had bought them at Clicks Baby prior as I knew I was going to give birth soon and I'd need them. I even bought maternity underwear so I could wear it comfortably. Ay she wasn't hearing any of it. She was adamant and insisted they belonged to the hospital. She even went on to say we ***** babies and put them in our bags. I was carrying my daughter that I'd just given birth to.. so it went from *****ing pads to babies in a split second because there was no way a young black girl could walk into a shop and buy things she'd need for when she was in labour to prepare for birth and what happens after birth. My mom kindly asked her to let us go as I was standing and had a fresh cesarean operation, my dad even asked for a chair so I could at least sit. No, she refused. She then said if I didn't ***** them it means my parents are the ones that stole them for me cos they work in hospitals and ***** things for their kids. How appalling. From accusing me to *****ing pads then a kid to then accusing my parents. How does she even know where they work if they even do? She said that she was not going to lose her job because of us ******* and she was going to make a strong example out of us. My mom kept pleading to let us go and she wouldn't listen. I was so weak I didn't have the energy to fight with her. She kept us there for almost an hour just standing for nothing trying to reach her superiors. She was going up and down on her walkie talkie saying a crime had been committed and she was going to check the barcode and came back and said it was indeed the hospital's. She said we must go down to meet her supervisor to our suprise when we got down, there was no supervisor waiting for us, only another security guard who also plead to what her colleague was saying that the pads were ****** from the hospital. They took them from me at such a crucial time when I needed them the most, right after giving birth when your bleeding is so heavy you can't control. And for women to do something so inhumane to another woman was just appalling. They took them and told us to leave. As soon as I got home, I emptied my bags and there the slip(reciept) was with the pads on top and everything else I had bought for myself and the baby. I quickly went and showed my mom and she told me to put it safely in her bag. She would go back to the hospital and show them.. and my what a run around they gave her!!! The guards had been placed elsewhere and no one was getting back to us!!!! Poor poor service!!

I went to Addington Hospital with a very sharp toothache, and they told me to firstly pay R70 so they can remove my tooth. I am a student but I tried to get it. I was on the line fir 3 hours only to be told that I can make an appointment for the next 2 days. I literally cried tears because I was in pain but I made a 7:30 appointment which was going to be in 2 days. On the day I arrived at 07:00 but did not get any help till 12:00. I did not atent my classes I was just sitting in hospital waiting for the doctor who only God knows where he was. I really received the worse treatment ever

It will be unfair for me not to applaud Addington Hospital for their hospitality when my aunt was hospitalised there. We (my cousin and me) brought my aunt on the 23rd of November 2023 around 00h20. My aunt was very sick, and we were very stressed, but staff (security, receptionist, nurses and doctors) were very empathetic which made our lives easier when we were there. My family would like to thank everyone who was working from the 23rd of November to the 27th of November 2023 for their professionalism and empathetic behaviour towards all of us until my aunt passed away on the 27th of November 2023. It feels comforting to know that my aunt passed away while she was well taken care of. Thank you to all Addington hospital staff and management for your professionalism. Keep it up! Do to others like you did to us! Thank you once more!
