I have supplied Alpen Autohaus for many many years and i can assure you that of the thousands of cars that they have sold to happy customers. The negative reviews on this website are isolated incidents. 2nd hand cars do have issues from time to time, the variables are massive and the paperwork is crystal clear. You can trust in the human beings at Alpen Autohaus. They are fantastic people with a high degree of personal ethics. Also, it is not fair to bad mouth Bluechip Dealers. This is without a doubt SA's premier network of dealers. Their code of conduct is robust and their members ALL have well established businesses. Alpen Autohaus is a responsible customer centric dealership and you must have no trepidation in buying a used car from them. Don't let 4 agro customers out of thousands allow your judgment to be swayed.

I bought a Nissan Navara fro Alpen Autohaus in Cape Town and after a week the vehicle had no power and i reported this to them and they were very arrogant and i went on to speak to Noddy of Blue Chip Dealers and he did not assist. i had to collect the car because they did nothing to it after i left it with them for 2 weeks. and below is the email i sent to Noddy. 1. The vehicle when I took delivery it had 127 360 km on the clock. 2. The vehicle had 3 Navara mats and on the front passenger side there was no mat and I was given one old dirty rubber mat for the front passenger side. 3. I did mention (even though I was not required to) that I will use the vehicle for towing to JC who then confirmed that a Navara is good for towing. 4. The tyres could not pass a roadworthy not at all, if your member got a roadworthy for this vehicle with the tyres in question, that must be investigated. 5. The vehicle has spots of paint inside on the dashboard and on the doors and this cannot be disputed, I have taken pictures, this shows that the vehicle was in an accident. 6. The rear tyres does not have the covers on top of the tyres and that makes it to make a lot of noise when driving especially on the gravel. 7. The rear mud flaps have paint showing that the buck has just been painted and my conclusion is that this vehicle is a code 3, and I am busy investigating that. 8. The vehicle is losing power not only when it has a load but all the time and I changed filters and the problem still persists and the cause of that is the leef pump. 9. The fact that I inspected the vehicle before I bought it, that does not take my right to complain for the bed service I received from the dealer. How do you correct this ? 1. You need to advise your member to be client friendly and not to be arrogant. 2. Advise them not to be liars. 3. Advise them to change the tyres. 4. Advise them to fit the rear covers on top of the tyres. 5. Advise them to clean the paint from inside the vehcilce. 6. Advise them to put new/second hand Navara mats in the vehicle. 7. Advise them to ensure that the vehicle pulls as per normal Navara van of its age. 8. Advise them that the Navara needs to be equal to the value it has been sold for to me. If all this is done by tomorrow the 25th October 2018, I will collect the vehicle. If this is not done by tomorrow close of business, I will cancel and I will go and buy another vehicle elsewhere as my business is suffering as a result of this. And I can assure you that I have a very strong case against your member. Regards

This is one dealership that definitely should be closed immediately. I regret not reading reviews before my son bought his first car at this dealership. On September 11, 2019, my son bought his first car at the above dealership. He was told by the salesperson to drive the car for a month and return it if there are any faults he is not happy with. We then took the car to Thorp Plumstead for an inspection and they issued us with a full report on all faults. The break pads were worn together with the discs which needed to be replaced. Wiper blades were worn among few other things . We took the car in and it stood for a solid week without anything being done to it. The manager claimed the breaks were perfect when the car left the shop and they are not replacing anything on the vehicle. The car passed road wothy test so it was perfect when it left the shop. A week later my son got stuck with the car and I had to tow him home. The started packed up. Up to this day the car is still standing. Anybody who reads this review please do not purchase any cars from this dealership. There is absolutely no aftersales service here. Once they have your money, you will get nothing out of them again.

On 19th June 2018 my daughter purchased a silver Hyundai Getz 1.6 HS, 2008 model with 154, 996 mileage for R75,000 from you. Since purchasing the vehicle it was in for repairs five times in as many months. She chose Alpen Autohaus because of a reputation for “sourcing and supplying the finest quality pre-owned vehicles, all with full maintenance history”. As stated on the website, as a testament to quality service and also an exclusive member of the Blue Chip Dealers in Cape Town. In buying a second-hand vehicle she understood that it came with the wear and tear that accords with its age and mileage but she received a Certificate of Roadworthy through the Alpen dealership. This we were informed was, apparently through a “competent and duly registered authority” and was assured that “the quality of the vehicle was as required for such a certificate as required by the law”. As stated on the website each vehicle undergoes a “stringent quality check” and is “prepared to an unrivalled standard” in an on-site service and quality control centre. She was aware that due to reasonable wear and tear, age and usage components may fail after delivery. She is also aware that I chose not to take the offered Mechanical Breakdown Insurance as I could not afford the extra R10 000. In light of this she did not bring the vehicle back to the dealership when, two months later, on the 14th August 2018, the water pipe burst and she had to replace the pipe and radiator cap. However subsequently she has had to replace the ignition coil and all ignition leads (11 Ocotber 2018), the brake-pads in the front of the vehicle (26 September), all four tyres of the vehicle (16 October 2018) as well as the gear box mountings and engine mountings (18 October 2018). When she test drove the vehicle the engine was rattling and the revs where very high, but when she brought this up with the sales assistant she said it was normal. She has since learnt that this was a clear sign that the engine mountings were faulty, and that alone seems to violate the Certificate of Roadworthiness which was supplied with. In total she has spent R16 384.82 over the first five months of owning this vehicle on just making it roadworthy. As a Blue Chip Dealer you are obligated to follow the code of conduct - " By doing business with a member of the Blue Chip Dealer Group, you are assured of a professional, quality purchase, leading insurance and warranty product offerings and the very best after sales service in South Africa." In the terms and conditions of the sale she was assured of a roadworthied vehicle. She forwarded a letter asking to be reimbursed for the above expenses that should have been done to the car in order for it to be accepted as roadworthy but was refused with no further discussion or explanation. The notion of Blue Chip seems to apply only to the brotherhood of dealers and to protect them against the public. This is an outrage as the same car was on gumtree for 20 000 less but I advised her not to take the risk. I advised my daughter to rather go with a Blue Chip dealer. Lies an deceit and false roadworthy. I warn any buyers further to not deal with Alpen Autohaus and not be taken in by the Blue Chip Dealer logo. W.SWinney
