This was not my first time visiting the spa, I had done so when they were at the bottom of the hotel. This time around they are at the top because they are currently renovating. Firstly, you are greeted by a rail with handbags on sale and because of this the doors are wide open making the place so cold. When you step inside, a pungent smell of incense greets you, followed by statues of Buddha everywhere, on doors, display cabinets, I mean everywhere!!! We were taken to the treatment room where incense was burning which I extinguished. I've been to spas in Indonesia and Dubai but I have never experienced this!!! You are expected to put an old bed sheet (not bath sheet) while you lay on the bed waiting for 15 minutes for the the****** (the place only has 2)! The treatments were not bad and the room was warm but the table where you put your face in had this cloth thing that I constantly had to remove so I can breathe. You don't know what products they use as all products are in 10ml tubs!!! Would I go again? Not likely!

Worst experience ever! Paid R2300 per person for 5 hours "pampering" however it turned out to be more like torture than anything else. From the gowns smelling funny and being more grey/brown than white, to the awful "aging" facial (looked like I had microdermabrasion done after that exfoliation and felt like I was being scrubbed with sand) to the long black hair I pulled out along with my paraffin wax. Beauty technicians (if you can call them that) are unprofessional and undertrained. Equipment is clearly unsterilized and unhygienic (the yellow sponges which they use for facials were placed next to the basin in the public restroom, in a puddle of used water). And if that wasn't enough, we were asked to tip them...(here's a tip...close your establishment and stop stealing peoples money) I could write for days about this horrible experience but ultimately would discourage people to go there to "unwind" because you will be sadly disappointed. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY!!

Very disappointed in the service I received. We had a booking for 4pm so we arrived at around 3.20pm and we were told to wait until 3.45pm which we were fine with. So 3.45pm arrived and we were then told to wait another 30min because other clients had arrived late so they were busy with them first. The the****** said to us we must come back around 4.15pm or 4.30pm and they would phone us. We go back at 4.30pm and there is no one at reception to help us and there are also 2 other clients that have been waiting due to the late arrival of the other clients. I am also still waiting for the phone call. The question is why should we wait for other clients that where late. Why could they not have told us when we arrived at 3.20pm? Will never recommend this place to anyone. Very very poor service

We went to the Upstairs Day Spa at the Emerald Casino in November, while have the treatments done we were asked to wait for the pool area before we move to the next treatment room. While we were waiting at the pool, the staff moved our personal belongings WITHOUT our permission, we had phones, money and jewelry. We were not told that our good would be moved, they had dropped my brand new iPhone 5s, my screen, the chassis and the lock button was damaged. While we moved to the next treatment room we were advised that there was a small accident.Spoke to the Manager of the day spa & they insisted they pay for the repairs.Once I was back in home I had the phone assessed & the extent of the damage was not know until it was assessed.I then contacted Lorette to discuss & come to a conclusion, in the interim I approached my private insurer & we processed a recovery claim. Upstairs Day Spa was not even willing to settle my excess. I've not heard anything from Lorette from the Day Spa which is highly unacceptable as they are not willing to take responsibility for their actions!Highly disappointed in this regard!

I bought a voucher through Groupon and went in with my friend for her birthday, It was the most horrible experience. The therapists seem so unqualified, The massage was the worst experience ever, she just poured on cold oil and just rubbed it around for the entire period with no pressure or technique at all, even after my friend asked her to apply more pressure. They just have this know all attitude.<br> Will never recommend anybody to go experience this. Waste of money and time
