We booked a romantic night away for my 50th birthday recently. The views on arrival were spectacular and the sea amazing hues of blue! Very impressive. Check-in was fine, Heinrich assisted who had confirmed my online booking the previous day. The room no.5 was very neat and spacious, the bathroom was surprisingly bigger and more spectacular than the website photos revealed! We even had heated towel rails which is a bonus! However, I had requested a "balcony" i.e 1st or 2nd floor room online, not a ground floor which was a little disappointing. But I decided to let it go as not to spoil our getaway! Unfortunately we had a few more issues during our stay: 1. When we wanted to bath Saturday eve, no hot water. We reported to reception, the receptionist was not as friendly / helpful as one would expect. After a nice dinner (which was great except that not a single piece of "greenery / tomato was added to my plate - steak), I went back to reception only to be told that "maintenance had not come back yo her"?? Anyway, eventually over an hour later we had hot water and a lame excuse! 2. I requested 2 champagne glasses and ice, we received 2 red wine glasses!! 3. Sunday morning, noisy children and parents in the corridor woke us up early. Plus banging of the room doors!! 4. And again, when we wanted to shower before breakfast - no HOT water again!! Reported to reception, 3 min later a maintenance man knocked on our door--- I was still lying in bed and my fiancé was half dressed!! No warning at all!!! He tested the water and after some feeble excuse, it was suddenly hot! Not very professional at all 5. We then had breakfast which was superb, so much delicious food and beautiful sea views. 6. The experience overall was good, but the hot water and ground floor room spoilt it ! The ground level rooms have low walls so one has no privacy from neighbouring guests and the restaurant, plus passersby! Perhaps this is something to consider rectifying? 7. And some plants or flowers in the rooms would be a nice addition too. 8. The hotel was very clean and the swimming pool beautiful and blue. Just some "food for thought". Kind regards,

a GREAT place to spend a weekend or holiday but if you are wanting to spoil your mother this Mother's Day, this would be the best choice in the Overberg. https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/mothersdaytreats?__eep__=6&__tn__=*NK*F

Having spent Valentines Day weekend booked into the hotel, we had unfortunately had to depart on Saturday morning due to a c-19 related death in the family. We settling the accommodation account, I asked the front desk why we were paying for the Saturday eve stay, despite not being in the hotel since we were departing - I was told that it was Hotel booking Policy and as such the fees were due. Not wishing to make an issue of this, I requested the duty manager to confirm that my payment is made under duress and I asked that the Hotel GM please contact me to discuss this. Let me also say that I have every appreciation for the difficulties which the hospitality industry has endured due to lock-down, but at the very least when I request sight of the cancellation policy, it be provided and since the reason is a death in the family, so consideration be entertained in this regard. Needless to say, it's now almost a month later and despite emails to the hotel, the GM has simply elected to ignore my requests to engage with me.... This now implies that since he is clearly not intending to chat to me, I have very little alternative but to reach out to public social platforms in an attempt for him to now reach out to me..... I am trusting that this negative review (which I hasten to add is not a reflection of the staff who work at the hotel since they are fantastic) but rather the GM's attitude to both my emails to him and also my request for sight of the Hotels Cancellation Policy....... Let's see just how effective public opinion can be in this regard. My view is that his / her handling of this matter is a very poor reflection on the Hotel and the efforts of the staff there to always make the stay a marvelous experience... Mike

Spent 2 nights in Arniston Spa Hotel. Lovely spacious room overlooking the ocean with large balcony for morning coffee or after dinner relaxing watching the moon come up over the ocean. Comfortable beds. Delicious buffet breakfast. Friendly staff. Arniston is a clean and safe village next to Heritage Fishing Village Kassiesbaai Beaches which were unfortunately banned while staying there, looked sooo inviting for swimming and surfing.
