Still awaiting a refund from Ashby Manor guest house. Not only did they not refund me the first time I was there but managed to get more out of me than was agreed upon in the invoice that stated 31 days they also did not refund me for the day they said the would on my second stay. Wishing anyone who chooses to stay at Ashby Manor the best of luck as my safety and health was put in danger and those responsible for it were protected. No service, no accountability.

To whom it may concern, Ashby Manor is on booking.com and a friend & I booked in advance to stay there earlier this year. We were so excited to be coming out to SA & especially to Cape Town. A friend of ours, who lives in Durban, recommended it to us. The booking was for the 31th March till the 2nd of April, the day we were returning to Austria. They insisted on a 50% deposit to secure the booking. (10/01/2020) However, our plans changed & the trip we then planned did not include Sea Point. We immediately contacted them & cancelled explaining the situation. (19/01/2020) We received a reply saying thank you for letting them know. On the 20/01/2020 we received an e-mail requesting banking details to refund the deposit. I immediately sent them through to her as requested. No refund was done. So the emailing continued requesting the repayment of the deposit only to be told each time a different story as to why it hadn’t been paid. The money has eventually been paid back now in October 2020, but this was due to me saying I would contact booking.com directly in connection with this issue. I would like to make you aware of how Ashby Manor operates as I am sure we are not the only ones that had this problem. Booking.com is always the one that we use when booking our places all over the world when travelling. But now I am wary to use it in the future if they are advertising places like this. Regards

I booked to stay in this place from valentines till Sunday, we where traveled with my parents.when i booked they said they have a family room, not indicating that is it just one room with 2 single beds and 1 double bed next to each other. when i checked in the morning with the lady in reception she advised, she will get a hold of the owner to refund the rest of the money for the 3 days. so i checked out, when i called through out that day she kept giving me stories. so when we returned in the night, they sold my room to someone else and refuse to refund me. i was left with no where to go with my family. they refuse to give me back my money and still sold the room again to get extra money, the place as no parking space for all the guests, and if you come late you have to park on the street, this place ia a rip off. i have tried to contact the manager there with no luck , they dont reply to emails, and the staff just take messages which no one calls back. they are thives

I made a booking for 3 people at the Ashby manor guest house in Cape Town in January 2018 for 3-7 March 2018,made a deposit of R2400.00 but had to cancel because of the water crisis in that city. I was promised my money back 4days after cancellation but till today I still have not received even after countless emails and phone calls, they do not even bother responding to my emails.

I booked a stay at Ashby Manor Guesthouse for a work colleague coming from Mosselbay for training in Cape Town. Her stay was from 13 to 16 March. A total of R3600 for the stay and I was requested to pay a deposit of R1800. Which I did on 11 March. My work colleague drove down from Mosselbay and when she arrived late the evening on 13 March the person at reception insisted that she pay the full R3600 before she can go to her room. (At that stage I was not aware that they requested her to pay also). On 15 March I paid the balance of R1800 (still not aware that my colleague was forced to pay R3600 on arrival).

When I saw my colleague a week later she informed me that she also paid R3600, which means Ashby Manor was paid double for her stay. Since then and after NUMEROUS emails, all I get is excuses but have still not received a refund of the R3600 paid too much. Almost 2 months waiting for a refund after they insisted that a young lady, after driving for 5 hours by car, at 21h00 at night, pay them before she can go to her room.
