Hi There I was driving to work on the 27th of October 2023. I just heard explosion sound and i thought it’s my tire. I didn't feel anything odd on the steering, there was just a drag force holding the car back like a window was open. I looked up and a saw the sunroof was shattered. No foreign object in the car. There was no prior crack. I called Vw Kraaifontein since they’re close to where I stay with no joy they revered me to my own insurance. I drove to VW Somerset West as they said they are close to where I work and they told me they don’t have capacity and advise me to go the dealer where I bought the car at VW Barons Bellville. I bought my VW Polo highline 1.0 DSG, 2021 model last year July 2022 at VW Barons Bellville. The car is still under factory warranty. Upon my arrival, they took the car in and said they will liase with warranty. It took a few days and I had to call a few times to receive feedback. They finally told me that warranty isn’t going to because it’s not a factory fault. Not telling me they conducted the investigation on behalf of warranty. I then asked them to email me the rejection letter and policy wording. They send me an email stating the below from the branch warranty clerk. The sunroof is not covered under warranty. VW Group Sa’s responsibility for glass, is Limited to a warranty of 1 month in use or 1000 km’s (whichever occurs first). The above statement can’t be correct because the glass warranty for a sunroof and the windows and windscreen can’t be same as the manufacturing process is different and the glass they also different. I called VW a few times requesting a letter of rejection and policy wording and the Manager then told me they can’t provide a letter or reference any VW policies, which I said is strange because they affiliated with VW Group in SA. The manager then told me to contact VW customer care myself as they can’t liaise with them, changing from our first engagement on Friday. I then called VW Group SA reporting the matter and telling them of their pathetic services. They said they will investigate and let me know. Phoned them a few times as well as I am stranded without a car. They than also came back with the below response which is in contrast to what VW Barons told me. VW barons actually did conduct an investigation and told them it isn’t a factory fault. Bare in mind they’re not glass experts and how did they come to the conclusion. I just asked the VW Group warranty to send me their rejection letter and it states as per below. We refer to all previous communication and regret the events that have led you to contact us. Having reviewed your concerns, regarding the vehicle sunroof, we wish to comment as follows: 1. Your vehicle was sold subject to the terms and conditions of a three (3) year or 120 000 km (whichever occurs first) Warranty and a five (5) year or 90 000km (whichever occurs first) Easy Drive Maintenance Plan (“EDM”). 2. Our legal obligation and commitment to our customers is in respect of the above- mentioned plans, provided the terms and conditions, thereof, are adhered to and that the concern falls within its parameters. 3. Before a claim can be submitted, a thorough assessment of the vehicle or components must be carried out by an approved Volkswagen Dealer. 4. We have liaised with Barons Bellville (“the Dealer”), who assessed the vehicle’s sunroof and confirmed that the failure is not due to a manufacturing defect. We wish to assure you that our Dealers are fully trained and equipped to carry out diagnosis and repairs on our vehicle models. The cost of the required repair will regrettably be for your account. Alternatively, you may contact your insurance. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to comment. Vw Group Sa/Bellville Barons takes no responsibility, and my car is under warranty. I bought the car at Vw barons bellville last year July 2022. Pathetic service. I have been stranded without a car for the past 2 weeks. No courtesy car no nothing all they tell me is to claim insurance. I have reported them to MIOSA. Lets see if they will do the honourable deed!!!. No glass expert examined the Car to give a verdict.

Drove for service and for when to find out the quote for a dim light bulb under parts department was sent to 2 different individuals and when I finally got to the right guy to talk to didn't even bother himself with me just standing there and just busy on the phone the whole time. Left without finding out if they have it in stock or not... very disappointing service for their caliber.

No service: I went to get my car services at VW Bellville and I arrived 15min late only to be made to wait another 15min by a Tanya Kruger who first told me 'you are late and I'm already busy with something so you'll ahe to wait'. Like a good girl I waited until I was fed up. She was initially typing something special then went on to make a long ass call if not a couple of calls. So as a client I just want important and my time was not valued. There was other staff members and probably the manager but none of them cared. This is the 2nd time I've had this horrible treatment from this branch and never again and hope anyone reading this does NOT spend their hard earned money there. My personal opinion is that it's a colour or racist matter and it's just disgusting. I'm never going there ever.

I am HIGHLY disgusted by the service I received from Barons Bellville today 18/05/2021. My 2013 vw polo went in for 180k major service and the Service Advisor Frank Lombard assisted me. Moments after my vehicle was booked in I received a call from Frank Lombard telling me that one of the technician broke a rubber seal on one of the coil-packs in an attempt of removing the spark plugs, Frank then told me that unfortunately my service plan does not cover that and I need to pay for the replacement part. I then asked of him why should I be held liable for a broken part and when I drop off my vehicle there was nothing wrong with it, I asked Frank if I could speak to the person in charge and he said his manager will give me a call. His manager then called me and told me I need to pay for the part as it is part of wear-and-tear, I again explained to him that the part was broken by one of their technicians so I don't see why I have to pay R1600 for replacement and he said he can give me a discount with an amount payable of R1400 and if they don't replace the part my vehicle will jerk. Frank called me after the vehicle was done serviced and it is ready for collection where I then have to pay the discounted amount of R1400 otherwise my vehicle won't be released, I then asked if I can see the Service Manager Craig Coetzee, Sales or Branch Manager or anyone who is in charge and I was told they are all in a meeting but I have to pay for the part before I leave. I immediately contacted their Head-Office and conveyed my query, the lady at the office who assisted me told me unfortunately there is nothing she can do but I will just have to pay the R1400 and she will send that branch a mail to escalate the matter. I am not the first person this has happened to as I know people that experienced the same service from Barons Bellville, so please people do not go there for any services. I don't know if it is a money making thing but their service is beyond disgusting and I do not recommend them to anyone.

Friday morning , i booked for inspection service , at Bellville Barons . I was served by Yumna Malan the service agent very unprofessional . She gave me a price of R3600 written with pen .I asked her that last year september, my car was booked for similar service, and i paid R1500 including labour. Why do i have pay triple the price. She couldnt explain that , I asked her if does Vw offer lift ,her answer was " we dont give lift to strangers anymore " . I brushed that off ,and left the dealer . Later that afternoon when was about to fetch my car it was parked outside whereas two cars were parked inside also, which belongs to customers and ready for collection. Mine was parked outside with leaves (plants) in the passanger seat allover the interior. Not washed and polished at all the exterior . Before i made payment the lady gave me an invoice ,which was totally less than the intial price . I asked her what happen to the R3600 . She couldnt explain ,the new price was R2868.50 . Which was still ,expensive considering the price i paid last year of R1500. I asked her again what was changed in my car . She told me it was Oil filter, Airfilter, Pollen filter and ***** and that cost a labour of R1945.50, but spark plugs were not changed . While questioning the lady , Yumna told me that she has already knocked off and left her table . She wont be able to attend to my question and yet she already explained everything , sayijgbthis irritated. I was treated very badly and my car was left dirty ,with all the old parts changed were left in my boot . And when i address that to Yumna she appeared irritated and angry and she told me straight that she knocked off already . I was planning to come back for another service for brake fluid flush , i dont think, i will ever make use of your services ever again or even recommend someone else .it was the first time being treated like that at VW Barons Bellville. My question why i was charged, this amount for oil change? And why prices flatuate, there is no fixed price ? No proper pricelist for services . And Sparkplugs werent changed .
