Bergentash Properties who now go by the name The Living Room because of all the bad reviews they receive online, are a bunch of crooks. They refuse to bring back our deposits, on several occasions our complex didn’t have electricity for days at a time because the owner owed (still does) the municipality almost a million Rand. Their complexes are always dirty. Cars have gotten stolen in the complex (Villa Massimo) because of lack of security. Oh and let’s not forget how rude their employees (especially DORA HLUNGU) are, plus they barely ever respond. DO NOT STAY AT ANY OF THEIR PROPERTIES!!!!

I am exhausted of following up with Dora or Francois who are both property agents at Bergentash Properties or Living Room, we tried to call them since I moved on Friday 28 February. I noticed earlier today that they blocked my number and can only access or communicate with them via WhatsApp well except for the rude Dora. Dora has been mala fide from Day 1 to date, I will share her response as soon as can on my other review and on social media platforms. Kindly note that they made an agreement with the new tenant by the name of Nandi or Zama Zulu to settle the payment by 7 days since I moved out and they had extinguished/ delayed and for every 7 days that had passed they would be held accountable to pay a penalty fee of 15%, inclusive of the deposit of R4500 owed to me, which is what they used to do to the other tenants in the complex at Villa Massimo in Blackheath. Zama or Nandi Zulu has also taken advantage of the situation since she knows how these guys operate, so she has taken my kindness and patience to a test if NOT trash. She has been making excuses to Francois and I, to date. She first mentioned that she could NOT deposit the securing deposit to me due to poor internet connection and would deposit the money at the bank by Saturday, 7 March and failed to and every week, she kept on making excuses to date The Rental Housing Tribunal need to put this agency into place as they abuse the rights of tenants, I am not responsible for the joint and several liability after making false claims and accusations by Dora who is so unprofessional, incompetent and inhumane for a lack of better words to describe her. Francois does not have much power as the rest, but he continues to make empty promises to tenants which needs to come to an end. I want NOTHING to do with Bergentash or Living Room. I just want my money back ASAP!!!!

If there was a rating lower than one star I would have chosen it, because they don't even deserve that one star! Anyway, what brings me to Hellopeter is the fact that these people cheated and robbed us of our deposit. Yes we owned up to our faults that my flatmate and I did (nails on the lounge walls, which we did remove and cover with pollyfilla). Yet when it came time to get our deposit we got charged for damages, wear and tear and things THEY FAILED to correct before or even just after we moved in! When we questioned some of the things they were billing us for they sent false information. For example one of the things they said they changed/repaired when we moved in was the complete repainting of the kitchen ceiling (this was never done! The maintenance guy just put that pollyfila thing to cover up the previous damage!) WE HAD TO PAY FOR THAT FROM OUR DEPOSIT!!! And believe me the list is long. And the reason we even moved out after staying only a year at one of their properties (Castle Hill Villas - Blackheath) is that my flatmates car got stolen from outside her window. Instead of beefing up on security for their residents they choose to rob them of their deposits instead. They are crocks and make a profit from our deposits. I wish I had read these reviews sooner, because wow, issa a lot. MXM.

In my experience staying at Castlehill Villas, the only problem I had was with ismart, the company that managed electricity. But all in all, I did not have any problems with the place. Dora in particular was very helpful during my stay there. She was very reliable, friendly and made communicating with her very easy. She made an effort to address any problem or issue I had, in a timely manner and would always follow up to ensure that I am satisfied. I just had recently cancelled my lease and moved out. Since I couldn't find a replacement tenant in time, I had to forfeit my deposit. But two weeks after I had moved out from my unit. Dora contacted me to notify me that they had found a replacement tenant for me and would be refunding the balance of my deposit. I was just so happy recieving these news as I had not expected they would find a new tenant in time. By this time I had already accepted the fact that I had to forfeit my deposit and did not think I would have ever recieved any part of it. The money was in my account in no time. I was so grateful and impressed with Dora following up and ensuring that I get the remainder of my deposit after they had found a new tenant.

Tenants. Think twice before using them... u will never see ur deposit again. Landlords beware. Scammers of note. They will say they repairing ur flat. And charge you 20x higher. Husband does the repair. Be extremely careful.... and let the word out

Hi, We have been with renting with Bergentash for nearly four years now. In that time we have experienced terrible service. When requesting repairs due to wear and tear they have failed to respond to our emails and eventually when they do it takes well over thirty days to make the repairs. In addition on multiple occasions we have asked for detailed utility bills and the municipal bills and on very few occasions have we actually recieved anything. What brings me to Hellopeter is, over the last 6 months +- our utility bills have more than doubled for no reason, we requested a breakdown in August with original documentation. So that we may try to make sense of the situation, and we have received no feedback. Natasha simply doesn't take our calls and Dora promises and promises but never delivers. The situation has got so bad we have had to give notice and move to a much smaller place, give up one of our dogs, and pray that when we finally get what we have been asking for that its not a huge blow to our pockets. I'm grateful that I saw the Hellopeter reviews so now I know they don't pay deposits back, I have at leaste been able to protect myself from that. WATCH OUT!!! These people are either sharks, or very sloppy. You take your pick.
