I am deeply dissatisfied with the bad service that I am currently experiencing with Bidvest McCarthy VW in Umhlanga (6 Sunset Crescent, Umhlanga Ridge, Durban) Over the past two weeks my vehicle, which is still under warranty, has remained at the dealership without any proactive communication regarding its status. The service advisors (Kreesan and Janine) have been neither transparent nor forthcoming, and repeated attempts to obtain updates have been ignored. Furthermore, VW SA(Yolanda) has failed to provide meaningful assistance or timely feedback. The lack of communication and customer focus is unacceptable and reflects a clear disregard for client service standards. I expect an immediate, detailed report on my vehicle and a concrete plan for resolution. Failure to address this matter promptly will compel me to escalate the complaint through formal channels and seek alternate remedies

A very bad one took my car for a service n my car came back with more problems n car was on fire aft 2 day aft coming back from them n nw they telling me I need 29k to fix my clutch in the car nw

I am appalled about the lack of customer service I have received. my 1st interaction was with Buhle who did not properly handle my request, the service delivery was dismal as I have been awaiting assistance since last week. even after multiple calls to VW to service my vehicle I am yet to be assisted properly. The experience has been dreadful, rude and dismissive. @VW the lack of interest is really concerning and could result in many of your loyal customers pulling away especially if your 1st point of contact is so pathetic, and unprofessional. Will never do business again at this facility. and urge you guys to find a resolution as this is highly impacting the VW brand judging from the numerous complaints already listed from valued customers struggling to get the bare minimum from your company.

I had recently bought a brand new VW Polo Tip 2025 model. Within 6 months, there is a fault on the car. I contacted VW assist and the car was sent to the VW service centre in Uhmlanga on the 15/09/2025 (the same day that my debit goes off for monthly repayments), and to this day, the service centre has been messing around with me. Note that I am an educator and this a busy time with exams as well as extra classes for matric learners. There is no urgency in communication from the service manager at the centre. The car stood stationary at the workshop for 2 whole weeks without any communication from the service centre. I have been calling often, being told that they will get back to me and they never do until I contact them again. The service centre also did not have the correct tools to diagnose the fault however the service manager **** to me that diagnostics were done, which I only found out a few days later that it hasn't been done. Also note, it apparently took the centre two days to diagnose the fault. Thereafter, I was told that the part needed to be sourced which was to be done last Friday, 26/09/2025, upon calling today, I am told that the part will only arrive within 2-3 days after they confirm the order today (29/09/2025), and that they are unsure of how long it will take after that to repair the car. This service centre has continuously ignored calls, have not communicated with me as the client unless I call in, and has a poor turnaround time. I am deeply disappointed and concerned with their service. They do not offer any courtesy car or assist in clients needs. I find this very disturbing as a VW client as I am paying an installment on a brand new car that isn't being utilised.

I have never met a car dealer so interested in selling cars. I reached out and had a trade in to offer which there was hesitation to giving me a good offer (which is fine). I requested the best offer and was willing to pay full listing price for their car and I have had continuously reach out for responses over a week. I like the salesperson but the sales manager seems to be a problem but either way I have had such a poor experience compared to the alternate dealer I settled with that was willing to actually engage and make a deal.

Complaint Type: Service Complaint / Damage to Vehicle / Lack of Accountability. I am writing this with absolute disgust about the terrible service I received from your branch. On 8 May, I brought my car in for a routine service. After collecting it, I noticed new scratches and a dent – damage that clearly occurred while in your care. Service Advisor acknowledged this and took photos for the Workshop Manager. I was told to expect a follow-up the next day. To this day, despite multiple calls and messages, no response from the Workshop Manager. On 16 May, I visited the branch in person just to get an update. The Workshop Manager then took additional photos and advised that he needs to review the camera footage to conduct an investigation which resulted in him requesting three quotes for repair (from his recommended panelbeaters). By 28 May, I submitted two, and expressed discomfort with the third option (Option 3) due to unprofessional conduct and their refusal to send me a quote directly. Despite this, on 11 June, I was told that Option 3 had been approved for the repair – completely ignoring my concerns. I immediately requested their quote via email. No reply. No follow-up. Nothing. I’ve had to chase after the team for weeks for a resolution. The complete lack of accountability and urgency is unacceptable. I am beyond disappointed. Your branch has failed in every aspect of customer service. I demand a prompt resolution and proper communication.

When a company and staff that truely has no professional behavior, when a customer walks into a place first great the client and offer your assistance but at Umhlanga Vw that never happens, you walk around lost trying to find a person that will pick up their head to notice you on top of that when asked for help they response is so blunt that you rather should have never went i to branch. The lady near the parts department when asked why when calling the business no one answers, her reply was the phones are a problem for weeks now, Really you have a business and your phone lines are not working for weeks, but when i called people just pick up then transfers you to a line where no one answers listening to a bull**** voice prompt speaking so proud of their service. The ladies response then went from phones not working to sorry she is not sure, so you at work every day and you not sure if your telephone line works! Still waiting for her to ask me what i need help with, i walked in looking for spares but walked out with nothing but a head ache from this useless place. I dont blame those staff for the attitude and service skills its truely a reflection of its owners and the people the employ them.

We are extremely disappointed with the service we received from VW in Umhlanga. On Monday, we placed an order for bearings and were assured by the salesperson that the parts would be available by Tuesday. Based on that promise, we made the trip all the way from Port Shepstone to Umhlanga on Tuesday, only to be told that the bearings were not available. This wasted our time, fuel, and effort. On Wednesday, we received a call saying the bearings had arrived. Once again, we made arrangements and traveled back to collect them on Thursday — only to be given a used bearing, despite having paid for a brand new one. When we pointed this out, the staff made excuses and tried to convince us to take it. We rightfully refused and requested a refund. Now, we are being told that we must wait up to a week or longer for our refund. This means we are out of pocket and unable to purchase the correct part elsewhere, leaving us stuck and unable to repair our vehicle. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and costly. We expect better from a brand like VW. At the very least, we demand a prompt refund and a formal apology for the inconvenience, poor communication, and unprofessional handling of this matter.
