Car Service City
Scores reflect the Overall AI Score for each category
Based on recent customer reviews, Car Service City struggles significantly across all core customer experience dimensions. The overwhelming majority of feedback describes unresolved repairs, vehicles returned in worse condition, dishonest diagnostics, rude staff, and a near-total absence of proactive communication. A small number of positive reviews praise individual staff members at specific branches, but these are far outweighed by consistent, severe complaints spanning the national franchise network.

I had a very frustrating experience with Car Service City and feel compelled to warn other customers about what happened to me. In late January, I took my car in for a minor service and also to fix an issue where smoke was coming from the engine. After inspecting the car, they sent me a list of recommended work. I specifically asked them which repair would solve the smoking issue, and they told me that replacing the tappet cover and gasket would fix it. Based on their professional advice, I paid for that repair. However, the very next day after collecting my car, the engine was still smoking exactly as before. When I contacted them, they told me it would take about 3 days for the smoke to clear because there might still be oil in the exhaust system. I accepted that explanation. After four days, the smoke was still there. When I raised the issue again, I was then told it could take up to three weeks. Now we are in week four, and the car is still smoking whenever I stop at a red light or reach my destination. I took the car back in this morning and made it clear that I would not be paying for additional work, since the original problem they claimed to fix was never resolved. Despite this, I later received a message saying they want to charge me an inspection fee and that the smoking is now supposedly caused by a leaking pipe from the steering rack dripping onto the exhaust. My questions were simple: 1. If this was the real cause, why was it not picked up during the original inspection? 2. How can it suddenly be a “new issue” when the car never stopped smoking even the day after the initial repair? Instead of addressing these questions, head office called me and attempted to pressure me into paying the inspection fee. From my experience, this raises serious concerns about the quality of their diagnostics and their business practices. I paid for a repair that was confidently presented as the solution to my problem, yet the issue was never fixed, and now I’m being asked to pay more for something they failed to diagnose the first time. Customers should be very cautious.

After using Car City Randburg for the past four years, I have finally discovered that if they don't have a certain part for a particular vehicle, they just use any generic that fits. After replacing my oxygen sensors twice, and failing twice, I took my Mazda CX-7 to Woodmead Mazda, and they informed me that the oxygen sensors Car City supp**** would never work in my car as it's a specialist part, only supp**** by Mazda themselves. When I complained to Car City Head Office, an agent by the name of Lerato told me there is nothing that can do as the 6 month warranty had run out. Basically, tough on you buddy, suck it up. I encouraged many family and friends to use Car City initially, but now I see it is one big **** enterprise. My advice - avoid Car City like the plague itself.

Last week I went onto a search to find places where I can take my car for a service because the person who use to service my car is not around. So many places came up and I started calling around. I eventually go to the Car Service City Head office, I requested what I needed and the lady I spoke to was so patient and friendly she assisted with finding the nearest branch to me, transferred me and the service got even better. I spoke to a lady at the Braamfontein Branch and she too was so friendly and kind. She gave me all the information and options and even her cell phone number. I was in awe that a "vehicle place" could have such friendly people given my experience and the assumption out there. I was totally impressed and will definitely book m vehicle for a service at Car Service City Braamfontein. Thank you

The communication is confusing and they don't keep time, took my car for a service at 9 am and i had to follow up all day to only get my car at 4pm (i had to call them, no one called to tell me the car was ready). When i check on my car track app it shows they spend the day driving around with my car, I'm very disappointed, and will not be using them again. wouldn't recommend them too anyone.

I am lodging this complaint due to the appalling conduct of Car Service City Midrand employees and the dismissive response I received from management. On the afternoon of the incident, I was stopped at a traffic light with my 8-year-old son in the vehicle when a man (a beggar) was masturbating against another woman’s car window in full public view. Two Car Service City Midrand employees, wearing branded attire and handing out flyers at the intersection, stood nearby laughing at the victim. When I confronted them and asked why they were not intervening or assisting the woman, they responded that the man was “just honey.” This comment was made to me and my minor child. My complaint was never about the beggar alone — it was about the employees’ behaviour, their failure to act, and their inappropriate remarks which trivialised a ***ual offence occurring in front of women and children. The response I received from Car Service City Midrand was deeply concerning. Rather than addressing employee conduct, the company: Attempted to deflect responsibility by focusing on whether the perpetrator was a beggar Claimed difficulty identifying their own employees Took no responsibility for staff behaviour in a public-facing role I find it unacceptable that a company operating in public spaces claims to “take pride” in its staff yet fails to investigate or take accountability when employees openly mock a victim of ***ual misconduct — especially in the presence of a child. This matter has been reported to SAPS. However, this complaint relates specifically to employee conduct and company accountability, which Car Service City Midrand has failed to address. I am posting this publicly to warn other parents and members of the public, and to request that Car Service City Head Office formally investigates this incident and confirms what action will be taken.
