Watch stopped working after a few months and Takealot not covering the warranty. The brand owner should pass on the warranty to the merchant??

I bought the GA-100-1A4DR and it broke the 2nd year into it. Seeing as it's a "rugged" product it wasn't cheap and a 1 year warranty doesn't cut it. Most so-called rugged products offer at least a 2 to 3 year warranty on their products. I received a quote to fix the watch and it was almost the price of the watch. I am deeply disappointed with the product and the poor service too.

I bought a watch from The Casio Shop in South Africa and paid ZAR 3199 (Order #CAS-ORD-11037 (placed on May 19, 2014 12:04:15 PM SAST) ten years ago and over time the bezel has faded completely so that no figures are visible anymore, I requested a quote to replace the bezel only and received the ridiculous price of ZAR1780, stating "WATCH PARTS - CASE, BEZEL, DIALS & HANDS " and "The bezel comes with a case complete only" How can a reputable brand like Casio not supply individual parts and expect customers to pay for parts that do not need replacing. Despite emailing Casio MEA, they are ignoring and failed to reply. Bought my LAST Casio watch ten years ago then !!!!

Casio makes the most affordable classic and retro style watches to suit individual tastes. The product offers luxury and practicality at the same time. It’s sleek style is aesthetically pleasing and the calculator and timer functions are the best for a young professional who works with numbers in their area of work. You wear it at work, on weekends during outdoor activities and even on a date night. The watch is an all rounder. For any watch collector this is a good addition to one's collection. The watches are comfortable and light to wear and also make excellent gifts. As a bonus there is standard a 12 month guarantee on all of their products.

James Ralph / Casio SA is pathetic and offers no customer service. After years of using Casio products, I will never buy another device from Casio. I own a Celviano AP-450 Electronic Piano. This device is a serious instrument and cost a lot of money, so you would expect it to last a lifetime. After a few years of being very carefully looked after, never abused, and played at most a few times a month, three of the keys have started making strange electronic noises when held in. Noise appears both through the speakers and headphones. It only appears on the Grand Piano settings, and is sustained as long as held in. Searching online reveals many others with similar problems. I've e-mailed, I've called, I've Tweeted, I've Facebooked. I've tried talking to Casio Japan and Casio International. There is absolutely NO customer service. None. And there is nowhere to service these instruments and no one to give advice. If you spend a lot of money, rest assured, James Ralph - the sole distributor of Casio products in this country and where you get referred by everyone - now has it and will not provide you with any customer service. We have had 0 call backs, no response to e-mails, and have been given no phone number where anyone actually answers. It is absolutely disgusting. We are now forced to sell the instrument for much less than it's worth because it's impossible to get fixed or serviced by Casio. Think twice about buying any Casio products, especially in South Africa, and run far far away when you hear the name James Ralph as it's synonymous with a complete lack of empathy, respect, or service.

Short version... After almost a decade of being a g-shock customer I'm switching over to Garmin. The simple reason for this is that the cost of replacement parts have become outrageously expensive. Casio also no longer sells parts directly to the public. Instead you need to send your watch to a repair center to further get financially reamed post purchase. I considered purchasing the G-squad solar, but after considering the cost of parts, specifically the bands and bezel of which the cost cost of parts equates to roughly between 15 and 20% of the purchase price of the watch, I just had enough of being violated without the curtesy of lube. My first g-shock had a new bands and bezel replacement price tag of 40% on the purchase price of the watch. Seriously! I though I bought in my opinion an exceptional piece of tech, not ridiculously expensive plastic. It seems casio has embarked on a mission to make the acquisition of parts for either repair or customization so intensely unbearable that long time customers would rather fork out more money and part with watches that there is nothing wrong with than suffer the indignity of begging for parts for the expensive options or simply sell off the old **** and move on to competitors that will sell you parts for a fraction of the original cost with, what seems to be, an endless supply of parts and boundless array of options. Surely casio would be able to sell more watches if whomever is in charge of strategy didn't have head up own sphincter. Sure, Ferrari doesn't sell parts to backyard mechanics, but then again a casio isn't a Rolex...
