It has taken me a while to find the words to write about my terrible experience. From the moment we started using Genesis and using the private midwife services everything seemed so amazing but the aftercare at Genesis is just terrible. Firstly I really wanted the experience of having water birth but it was not prepared therefore I could not use the bath. The night after giving birth not once did a nurse come to check how my baby and I were, we were given no advice on what to do my husband and I had to call the nurses. I was then given stilpane but I was not aware what medication it was as I was still out of it from the anesthetic which then resulted in it being passed. To my baby and she slept and did not want to feed. She then had low blood sugar and was force fed formula against my wishes. The worst part of my experience was the paeditrician, as we were leaving a nurse came running to us asking if we were aware that our baby has a tongue tie and we were so confused as it was the first time hearing of this. We demanded to see the paeditrician but she was too busy to see us. We then went back on the following monday to get her BCG injection, which by the way was not available at birth. The paeditrician insisted that she tokd us and I was probably "too out of it" to remember. We also did not receive anything from the hospital, no nappies, pads I even had to use my own linen savers for the bed. Honestly not what I had in mind and will not recommend to anyone. The only thing that I can say was amazing was the food and the lady who delivers it, she was so sweet and even broughy food for me when the nurses refused because we were already discharged.

Such a terrible experience, for a private clinic stay away from this place the staff are beyond useless! They are rude and make it seem like they doing you a favor yet they are workers there. If you want poor service then this is the place, there is literally nurses that do not want to help you with your child in a private room.We had to walk out the room carring our baby with all our stuff in our hands. The useless receptionist Zanele sits having private calls while you stand there waiting for her to assist you. Payment not made clear and they give you the forms at the last minute and tell you to checkout before 12 or you will be charged, covid rules do not exist here a visitor was asked to jump over the back gate by security so that we can allow them in the back door as they were not grandparents. Seriously what the hell? will never use this place again! Stay clear!

I accompanied my wife to Genesis and from the start to end experienced unsatisfactory service. We had booked upstairs rooms for which previously we were told we can choose to occupy any for the delivery. The first room the nurse took us to was ok, minutes after we were in she said it's too cold and then took us to another room that it's big and door and the bulk bed was exposed to the public when opened. My wife could be seen by anyone on the passage way whenever the door was opened. I kindly asked the nurse who was attending my wife if we can move to another room, as they we plenty of empty rooms upstairs and we were the only ones that were upstairs. She did not take it well and would not even talk back to me. Prior to that the nurse also sent me to walk around all empty rooms to look for a kettle and fill in questionare for my wife and it was the nurses duty. Later in the day we were told my wife contractions have become a weeker. Then they claimed to have given her a medicine to speed up labour, They said they give my wife two hours and if she is not dilated enough they have to do C-section at an extra cost of R30000-R50000. At 10pm same day the doctor wrote a note that my wife should be transferred to another hospital, as she does not have that extra money at hand. We had to look nother hospital in middle of the night. Considering that we arrived same day it's amazing that they were so impatient with my wife. We didn't have to even spend 24hours at the facility. We paid about R30000 for this pathetic service.

Brilliant friendly service from the gynae (Dr Sikakane), midwife (Ayanda Ngidi), pediatrician (Dr Bopape) and all other auxiliary staff. Entire experience was unforgettable from the first consult to my very last home visit. Very encouraging jovial patient-centred staff, and beautiful facilities that don't make you feel as though you are at a hospital/clinic, but rather at a mini getaway to meet your newborn. Staff always readily available and approachable, and decent meals. Accommodates family well. Clear breakdown of all costs from the get go with no hidden surprises. Multiple options for a birthing plan. Easily accessible facility, even in peak Monday morning traffic!

Please watch Mmaneo_v labour and delivery story on YouTube. She nearly lost her life because of negligence. She even has a follow up video with email conversations of Genesis basically trying to distance themselves from the horrible ordeal. Delivering a baby is such a scary experience, you need to know that those assisting you care for you.

I had the worst experience at Genesis! In fact i almost died because of negligence from the medical staff members. they promise you things that they do not deliver and lie when they are advertising their facility. My advice is don't go there! Rather use a normal hospital and get into a private ward than go to genesis. they are even unapologetic and will claim money that they don't deserve. Save your life and your child's life by not going to genesis maternity hospital
