I would give zero stars if I could. Emails are never answered, exams cannot be booked, tutors miss lessons because they are sick and the lessons are never made up. Run far away from this unprofessional company, their service is shocking.

I would not recommend them to anyone. What a huge struggle to get any information from them, and eventually they send a link half an hour before the session starts. I have been waiting for twenty minutes now for the host to start the meeting, still nothing for a course that I have paid in full. From day one their service was extremely unprofessional. Waste of time and money.

I have been aware of Healing Hands for a long time and have always wanted to do a course through them but could never afford it. I finally managed to get my finances in order to be able to take up one of their special offers and registered and paid for 3 courses. These were all correspondence and I was very excited. My review is based on correspondence/self-study courses, I am not sure what they are like when you actually go to classes. I started with the "counseling" course. I am very disappointed in this course. Firstly it is not a counseling course, in the fine print, it says it's a life coaching course. Sadly, however, it is also not that. I would say this course is at best an introduction to eclectic psychological principles. The course material is extremely dated and difficult to read as if it was written by someone who time-traveled here from the 18th century. I learned more about life coaching from the internet than this course taught me. It gives a basic overview of different types of psychological principles and schools of thought but does not teach you anything about life coaching. Also, if you dig deep enough into their website, you will learn that the claim that all the courses are "internationally recognized" is not entirely true. There is absolutely no accreditation or recognition by any official body for any of their courses. I now have to pay for another life coaching course to get actual accreditation and to learn more. For someone who doesn't take the initiative to expand their studies and rely solely on the information given in this course would be less than ideal in the real world. I would not recommend anyone to take this course if they want to be a counselor or life coach. Aromatherapy: I have worked through the workbook I was sent for this course and am ok with it. It gives a good overview of Aromatherapy oils, history, uses etc. The massage module is lacking, however. There are no accompanying videos or anything showing technique or correct protocols. The pictures in the workbook are low res and the size of a passport photo so not helpful. I would recommend this course if you want to know more about Aromatherapy, it's a good starting point. But further study would definitely be required especially if you would want to offer aromatherapy massage to clients. Herbalism: I haven't really gone into much detail yet with the course material, but it seems good. As with all these correspondence courses, the course material is a bit dated so further self-study would be needed if one is serious about the subject. It provides a good starting point however so if you have the cash to burn and you want a basic understanding I would recommend it. All in all my experience from a client/student perspective has been meh. The communication is extremely formal, so you never feel quite welcome. Things aren't clearly communicated and there are delays in getting a response (unless there is an invoice involved). The way things are done and the course material is dated, so if you are ok with that then it's not a problem. I haven't done the exams yet for any of these courses because I feel like, what's the point even. The courses are also not "internationally recognized" as stated so keep that in mind. All in all, personally I am disappointed with the experience. I wasted a lot of time on the counseling course specifically seeing as though I now have to pay and spend time to do another life coaching course to be accredited and time is precious! Lesson learnt!

I wanted to sign a friend up for a Holistic Massage course but wasn’t able to pay immediately. There was a 60% off (R1999) special running at the time for the Holistoc Massage course. I was told that if I pay in a few days that I will still qualify for the special. There was no specials for the next month posted yet so I really wanted the deal. Sadly I wasn’t able to get the money together at the time, but assured Bronique that I will be paying as soon as I was able to and she seemed fine with agreement. Then out of the blue my friend thanked me as he received the course materials via courier. I was puzzled because I had not made payment. Seems like they dispatched the materials without receiving payment which was very kind of them because my friend could start studying so long whist I tried to get the money together to pay for the course. But once the course material was delivered Bronique started calling and sending WhatsApp messages daily requesting the money. She clearly made a mistake by sending course material without receiving payment and had to account for the money and it started turning very unpleasant. I would also like to add they the course material is shoddy and substandard. Badly printed and illustrations all in black in white. Added to the mix is a DVD. I asked all my friends and nobody has DVD players anymore. Then today Bronique demanded proof of payment and threatened me with the small claims court if she didn’t receive proof of payment by tomorrow. She then also had the audacity to send me another invoice for R4999 (original Holistic Massage price) when their current special is R3999 for any two massage courses and keeping in mind that I signed up at R1999 for 1 course. At no point was a new price discussed or even a payment plan as I saw tonight they advertise on their website. If they think I’m going to pay a cent at all after what happened they are mistaken. I wish them good luck with the Small Claims Court. I want no further dealing with your company.

Sadly I wasn’t able to get the money together at the time, but assured Bronwyn that I will be paying as soon as I was able to and she seemed fine. Then out of the blue my friend thanked me as he received the course materials via courier. I was puzzled because I had not made payment. Seems like they dispatched the materials without receiving payment which was very kind of them because my friend could start studying so long whist I tried to get the money together to pay for the course. Lately Bronwyn has been borderline harassing me daily via WhatsApp. She seems to think they money grows on trees. She clearly made a mistake by sending course material without receiving payment and now has to account for the money, but she has absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever. I would also like to add they the course material is shoddy and substandard. Badly printed and illustrations all in black in white. Added to the mix is a DVD which one is supposed to do what with!? I asked all my friend and nobody has DVD players anymore. It’s 2021. Today she demanded proof of payment and threatened me with the small claims court if she didn’t receive proof of payment by tomorrow. What a ****** audacity and a joke! At no point was a new price discussed or even a payment plan as I saw tonight they advertise on their website. If you think you’re getting any money out of me after all this! Also, good luck with the Small Claims Court! You can arrange via email with me to have the sub standard course material collected.

Review of my experience with Healing Hands Wellness By Karen Letinic, 01 February 2021 In my opinion, every form of healing has its place in society. Be it Western medicine, Eastern medicine, alternative medicine, or Homeopathy, each practice possess a similar goal in its effort to enforce wellbeing. It simply depends on an individual's needs and their pertaining circumstances. Complimentary healing has, however, always interested me, hence this is where my journey with Healing Hands Wellness began. What started as a desire to learn the art of holistic massage soon blossomed into the curiosity of all forms of complementary healing. Some people said it had become an obsession, but they were wrong. It had become my passion. I took advantage of the ongoing specials that Healing Hands Wellness advertised, and enrolled in the open-access course. After renewing my contract with Healing Hands Wellness for an additional two years, I managed to complete all 24 courses that they had to offer. I would recommend this route to other individuals that are considering in enrolling into Healing Hands Wellness, as it is the most cost-effective route and allows you to take charge of your own ‘road map’. To those looking at taking courses in wellness and complementary healing with Healing Hands Wellness, I will say the following based on my own experiences: The practical courses are truly excellent as they give a really good understanding of the course content. The instructors are patient and go at a pace that anyone can learn. Like anything in life, you reap what you sow, therefore you need to put in the time. It is essential that you practise each week in-between lessons, so as to master the techniques which have been taught, without becoming overwhelmed. One of the most impressive instructors that I had at Healing Hands was Kevi. She taught us that anyone can massage, and although learning the techniques was the most important element of massage, the intent while massaging made all the difference. With all those hours of hands-on-practice required in order to qualify to do the exam, I learned just how right she was. Thank you, Kevi. The correspondence courses give a basic understanding of the topics in question, certainly not enough to become a master of the practice, but enough to understand the concepts being taught and to pass the exams (especially if you follow the course content systematically, by reading each section and then doing the ‘test yourself questions’- don’t skip these). The manuals are worded in a way that almost anyone can understand their content. Whilst I found that some of the information was slightly outdated, or not entirely appropriate to the South African lifestyle, it was an easy way to perform distance learning. What I did was read the manuals and then, with that background knowledge of the course content, I did a lot of extra research of my own, especially in the subjects that captivated me more. This allowed me to strengthen my knowledge of the relevant topics and allowed me to form my own opinions with regards to the practices taught. Looking back, what I appreciated most of all is how much these short-courses taught me, and how much of this I currently apply to my everyday life. I now understand that being happy is a conscious choice. I learned how to be grateful and content with my life, which makes me a calmer person and helps me feel more in control of certain situations. I can say without any doubt that I have grown exponentially as a person since I started on my journey with Healing Hands Wellness, and a lot of this was a direct result of what I chose to take from the lessons that were taught. There were times that I did not agree with all the theory that was taught in the manuals. Ella Barker confirmed that one will never agree with everything that is taught and that that was okay. What was important, however, was to obtain a sound understanding of the concepts being taught, and make educated choices of whether to apply these lessons in practice. I appreciated her outlook and her willingness to understand that not everyone agrees with all the course content provided. I also appreciated that she respected the fact that everyone differs with regards to personal opinions and beliefs, and that those differences were tolerated when marking my exams. I respected the way the admin accepted they never always ‘got it right the first time’, but went over and above to rectify their mistakes. They always tried to accommodate personal circumstances, to make our studies easier, and that was very nice. Admin in any institute is always problematic, but how it is resolved says a lot about their integrity (Thank you, Rolene). My disappointment with Healing Hands Wellness is that they are not internationally recognised. In fact, none of their courses are even recognised locally by governing standards. Each course contains elements of SAQA unit standard qualifications, but not enough to get any official diploma. Even after successfully completing all 24 courses on offer, this was not enough to obtain an NQF accreditation. So, when all is said and done, there is no national recognition for all the time and money that has gone into one's studies. However, it was a worthwhile experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to further their own broad-based general knowledge of wellness, or looking to further their growth on a personal basis. I, therefore, considered what I was taught as a learning phase that has open my life to the next chapter, and would like to extend my thanks to everyone at Healing Hands Wellness.
