We was so disappointed so that we wrote to the CEO, Robert Haarburger, but as you can see "Der Fisch stinkt vom Kopfe her" (means: the management is responsible for the work ethic), he did not respond to his customer. Ignore them, "we got enough customer". But the staff was still nice, they tried to make the best out of the situation.

Mother's day special treat became very distasteful when we were cramped in the restaurant like sardines. There were no space to move and whenever someone got up from the table to get food, the whole table had to stand up to let the person pass. That was just putting a damper on the whole outing. Cannot believe that the restaurant did not care about the comfort of their paying guests. Very disappointed in Houw hoek.

The worst hotel experience ever! The room telephone didn’t work. There was no hot water from the bathroom taps. Although we were a family of 6 checking in, we were supplied 2 bath towels and had to argue and beg with housekeeping to get 4more towels for the kids. The reception were clueless when it comes to sorting out issues. All in all, a terrible experience. Rather go camping then endure this place

This review is being written before I have even visited the Houw Hoek Hotel. In mid September I mailed the hotel and asked them whether they had any specials on for October, and I was told no, they did not, so I booked two nights in October at the regular price. Last week I received a promotional mail from the hotel advertising three nights for the price of two at a cheaper rate than what I paid. I took this up with the hotel, and they advised that the decision to offer this promotion in October was made AFTER my initial enquiry. However, I received a credit for difference between what I paid and what the promotional price is, although I was unable to take the additional night as I had already booked three nights at Avalon Springs immediately following our stay at Houw Hoek. So credit to the hotel: they could have told me that the promotion was not valid when I booked, but they didn't and I appreciate receiving the credit. Good customer service.

I write this this with great disappointment in Houw Hoek Hotel. On the 11/08/2020 I made a booking with your hotel for my daughter and her husband to make their first night as husband and wife a memorable night and that it was but not in a good way. At about 12:00am they were woken up by an unbearable smell of paint fumes. They couldn't sleep at all due to the fumes. It was so bad that they had to take medication because they started experience heavy headaches . I called your offices yesterday and spoke to the Manager named Marcia who was completely unhelpful, she informed me that they did indeed paint the room and mentioned that they should have gone to reception to let them know about the fumes. She then mentioned that she would offer them a free lunch which I found to be unacceptable!? I was also promised that she would get back to me regarding my complaint which she not done after leaving my details! Why did they place them in an freshly painted room?why was it their responsibility to inform them about the fumes? My booking was made well in advance. What a horrible experience for newly weds! They couldn't wait to leave your hotel the next morning. I feel that my money was completely and expect a full refund.

Best place for a break-away. Nestle in the Houw Hoek Mountains with the most beautiful scenery from your balcony. Accommodation is clean and value for money. Staff is friendly and helpful Buffet breakfast is excellent Lots of space for children to play in the beautiful gardens Swimming pool is well kept and clean Safe, with at least one security officer on duty 24/7.
